Abilities:

Class Skills Acrobatics (Dex), Bluff (Cha), Climb (Str), Diplomacy (Cha), Disable Device (Dex), Disguise (Cha), Perception (Wis), Sense Motive (Wis), Sleight of Hand (Dex), Stealth (Dex)

The summoner’s class skills are Craft (Int), Fly (Dex), Handle Animal (Cha), Knowledge (all) (Int), Linguistics (Int), Profession (Wis), Ride (Dex), Spellcraft (Int), and Use Magic Device (Cha).

Weapon and Armor Proficiency The expert is proficient in the use of all simple weapons and with light armor, but not with any type of shield.

Summoners are proficient with all simple weapons. Summoners are also proficient with light armor. A summoner can cast summoner spells while wearing light armor without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance. Like any other arcane spellcaster, a summoner wearing medium or heavy armor, or using a shield, incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in question has a somatic component. A multiclass summoner still incurs the normal arcane spell failure chance for arcane spells received from other classes.

Spells A summoner casts arcane spells drawn from the summoner spell list. He can cast any spell he knows without preparing it ahead of time, assuming he has not yet used up his allotment of spells per day for the spell’s level.

To learn or cast a spell, a summoner must have a Charisma score equal to at least 10 + the spell level. The Difficulty Class for a saving throw against a summoner’s spell is 10 + the spell level + the summoner’s Charisma modifier.

A summoner can cast only a certain number of spells of each spell level each day. His base daily spell allotment is given on Table: Summoner. In addition, he receives bonus spells per day if he has a high Charisma score (see Table: Ability Modifiers and Bonus Spells).

A summoner’s selection of spells is extremely limited. A summoner begins play knowing four 0-level spells and two 1st-level spells of the summoner’s choice. At each new summoner level, he gains one or more new spells as indicated on Table: Summoner Spells Known. (Unlike spells per day, the number of spells a summoner knows is not affected by his Charisma score. The numbers on Table: Summoner Spells Known are fixed.)

Upon reaching 5th level, and at every third summoner level thereafter (8th, 11th, and so on), a summoner can choose to learn a new spell in place of one he already knows. In effect, the summoner “loses” the old spell in exchange for the new one. The new spell’s level must be the same as that of the spell being exchanged, and it must be at least one level lower than the highest-level summoner spell he can cast. A summoner may swap out only a single spell at any given level and must choose whether or not to swap the spell at the same time that he gains new spells known for the level.

Cantrips A summoner learns a number of cantrips, or 0-level spells, as noted on Table: Summoner Spells Known under “Spells Known.” These spells are cast like any other spell, but they may be cast any number of times per day. Cantrips prepared using other spell slots, due to metamagic feats, for example, consume spell slots as normally.

Fused Eidolon A synthesist summons the essence of a powerful outsider to meld with his own being. The synthesist wears the eidolon like translucent, living armor. The eidolon mimics all of the synthesist’s movements, and the synthesist perceives through the eidolon’s senses and speaks through its voice, as the two are now one creature.

While fused with his eidolon, the synthesist uses the eidolon’s physical ability scores (Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution), but retains his own mental ability scores (Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma). The synthesist gains the eidolon’s hit points as temporary hit points. When these hit points reach 0, the eidolon is killed and sent back to its home plane. The synthesist uses the eidolon’s base attack bonus, and gains the eidolon’s armor and natural armor bonuses and modifiers to ability scores. The synthesist also gains access to the eidolon’s special abilities and the eidolon’s evolutions. The synthesist is still limited to the eidolon’s maximum number of natural attacks. The eidolon has no skills or feats of its own. The eidolon must be at least the same size as the synthesist. The eidolon must have limbs for the synthesist to cast spells with somatic components. The eidolon’s temporary hit points can be restored with the rejuvenate eidolon spell.
While fused, the synthesist loses the benefits of his armor. He counts as both his original type and as an outsider for any effect related to type, whichever is worse for the synthesist. Spells such as banishment or dismissal work normally on the eidolon, but the synthesist is unaffected. Neither the synthesist nor his eidolon can be targeted separately, as they are fused into one creature. The synthesist and eidolon cannot take separate actions. While fused with his eidolon, the synthesist can use all of his own abilities and gear, except for his armor. In all other cases, this ability functions as the summoner’s normal eidolon ability (for example, the synthesist cannot use his summon monster ability while the eidolon is present).

This ability replaces the class’s eidolon ability, bond senses, and life bond.

Biped Size Medium; Speed 30 ft.; AC +2 natural armor; Saves Fort (good), Ref (bad), Will (good); Attack 2 claws (1d4); Ability Scores Str 16, Dex 12, Con 13, Int 7, Wis 10, Cha 11

Free Evolutions claws, limbs (arms), limbs (legs).

Darkvision (Ex) The eidolon has darkvision out to a range of 60 feet.

Link (Ex) A summoner and his eidolon share a mental link allows for communication across any distance (as long as they are on the same plane). This communication is a free action, allowing the summoner to give orders to his eidolon at any time. In addition, magic items interfere with the summoner’s connection to his eidolon. As a result, the summoner and his eidolon share magic item slots. For example, if the summoner is wearing a ring, his eidolon can wear no more than one ring. In case of a conf lict, the items worn by the summoner remain active, and those used by the eidolon become dormant. The eidolon must possess the appropriate appendages to utilize a magic item.

Share Spells (Ex) The summoner may cast a spell with a target of “you” on his eidolon (as a spell with a range of touch) instead of on himself. A summoner may cast spells on his eidolon even if the spells normally do not affect creatures of the eidolon’s type (outsider). Spells cast in this way must come from the summoner spell list.

This ability does not allow the eidolon to share abilities that are not spells, even if they function like spells.

Skilled (Ex) - Stealth An eidolon becomes especially adept at a specific skill, gaining a +8 racial bonus on that skill. This evolution can be selected more than once. Its effects do not stack. Each time an eidolon selects this evolution, it applies to a different skill.

Shadow Blend (Su)*In any condition of illumination other than bright light, the eidolon disappears into the shadows, giving it concealment (20% miss chance). If it has the shadow form evolution, it instead gains total concealment (50% miss chance). The eidolon can suspend or resume this ability as a free action.

Fused Link (Su) Starting at 1st level, the synthesist forms a close bond with his eidolon. Whenever the temporary hit points from his eidolon would be reduced to 0, the summoner can, as a free action, sacrifice any number of his own hit points. Each hit point sacrificed this way prevents 1 point of damage done to the eidolon (thus preventing the loss of the summoner’s temporary hit points), preventing the eidolon from being killed and sent back to its home plane.

This ability replaces life link.

Appearance:

Oktavia stands approximately 5'9, a very light build but with a beautiful natural complexion. She refuses to wear makeup and tries to keep her face dirty to cover it up, too easy for people to see her mother in her features. She prefers to keep her red hair (another gift of her mother's) shoulder length, enough to help cover her face but not long enough to be a problem. Her eyes, colored like emeralds, are the last part of her features.

Personality:

Oktavia has been shunned for much of her life. Shunned as an outcast by her siblings growing up, shunned by her father's friends as the bastard she is. Even after her mother's death the people who came to her asking for her story weren't interested in her. They wanted to know what her opinion of her mother was, with her father and step-mother. They sought stories to turn into plays. Oktavia quickly learned to tell them what they wanted to know, if nothing else to get them to go away.

This has taught her to hide behind a mask, a lie. When visitors would come, she found ways to hide and to escape. This was easy before her mother was involved in her life, no one truly cared. But after the fame, she truly sought to live outside the eyes of others.

But despite feeling alone, she herself is not a solitary loner. She still indeed craves human companionship, but people that would see her. So long she has pushed others away who didn't want her at all, those who wanted what she wasn't. Now she tries in her own way to make things better. When she invaded someone's house to steal, she left something to mark her passage, to know she existed. But she would then fade away.

This is Oktavia, the need to prove that she, the real Oktavia exists. yet she still hides who she is.

Background:

Oktavia was born the daughter of Rodori and Denskela Rusken. At least that's what she had thought. Rodori worked originally as a guard, now as a guard captain of a slaver merchant. Primarily reponsible for standing guard when slaves were prepared to be sold, it was said by his men Rodori possessed two things in great abundance, the respect of his men and a fertile seed.

Over 30 years of marriage he had managed to produce nine offspring, eight of them by his wife Denskela. It was the ninth that caused him his greatest issues in life. One night, on loan to a theater troupe, he was tasked to provide a guard for the actress Eria Deepshade. She had received a threat upon her life, and the organizer of the theater was on good terms with Rodori's boss. So he found himself set to guard the beautiful performer. And a good thing too, for the assassin wasn't prepared for Rodori's well trained men.

Eria was impressed by Rodori. While not a trophy like many of the actors with whom she had worked, he was attractive in a different sort. Wishing to repay him, Rodori found himself unable to resist her temptations. A single errant night, one he had hoped to leave behind him instead caught up with him almost a year later.

A messenger arrived at his door one evening bearing a young babe. The same blessing which had already given him 5 children had sought to bring turmoil into his life. Rodori's night with Eria had borne them a child.
Rodori and Denskela took the girl in, who was named Oktavia. At first they tried to pass her off as their own, but the mouths of the other children eventually revealed the ruse. The revelation stressed the relationship between Rodori and Denskela, between Rodori and his subordinates when they found out, and even the other children wouldn't play with Oktavia, seeing what it was doing. In the end, the family would recover, but Oktavia would always be an outcast in the family.

By the time Oktavia had grown to be 12, Rodoir and Denskela's family had grown to 9 children including her. The oldest has already moved out and begun to form a family of his own. It was now that Eria Deepshade entered back into their lives. Giving up Oktavia had always weighed upon Eria's mind, but she always assumed she would simply bear another child when she was ready. She learned that was not to be the case. The only reason Oktavia came into being was because of Rodori. So Eria decided instead she wished to learn more of what had become of her daughter, returning to Westcrown for the first time since Oktavia's birth.

Eria's first visit was not a welcome one, neither Rodori or Denskela wanting her involved in their lives now. Pushed away, the nevertheless kept returning to their home, attempting to get a glimpse of Oktavia. Finally they relented and allowed Eria to visit her. The visits were brief and supervised, the situation explained to the young girl. In fact Eria began to teach young Oktavia how to act, promising to get involved in the theater. Things seemed to work out at first, but they quickly came to realize Eria wasn't just interested in Oktavia. She wanted a family. She also wanted Rodori. Eria's advances were subtle at first, but quickly turned overt. Before long Rodori and Denskela were fighting again, nearly every night.

Then things escalated again. Ormog, one of Oktavia's half brothers, had grown mad at his parents fighting and blamed her for it. So one day he told Oktavia in anger if she just left with Eria, everyone would be better off. She took this to heart, and during Eria's next visit asked to go with her. Rodori and Denskela were arguing in the kitchen over Eria's brazen embrace and thus the two of them snuck out the back. When they finally realized what had happend, they were long gone.

Rodori wasted no time, gathering several of his off duty men they began to search for Oktavia and Eria. The first day proved fruitless, unable to figure out where Eria took her. Finally they called it quits that day, but agreed to gather again to search the next, and the next. Nearly a week passed before they managed to find out Eria had taken Oktavia to a small abandoned performing house.

Rodori and his men bursting in, Eria in waiting. Oktavia dangled from the ceiling unconscious while the line holding her was connected on stage. Eria stood there, knife in hand and ready to cut it unless Rodori heard her out. He said he would. She began to proclaim her love for him, a love which he refused to reciprocate. She continued on her tirade against him, when she turned away for just a moment, a moment long enough for Rodori to draw a handaxe from his side and fling it into Eria's back with a loud thud. With a surprised gasp, she turned to look before falling to the floor dead.

Rodori recognized her speech. It was from the play the night he guarded her. A Heart Denied, a Heart Stolen. The lines Eria spoke were the ones her character did in the play, right before she killed the child she had conceived with the prince in bitter revenge, then taking her own. Rodori remembered it well, well enough to know she would turn before the big scene, and when she did he took advantage of the moment.
Oktavia rescued and Eria dead, word of what happened spread quickly. In fact, it brought an odd sort of fame to the family, for the play itself was quite famous and Eria herself well known. Sadly this fame did more to ostracize Oktavia than anything. For a short time many a playwright came, seeking inspiration in the true tale. There weren't people interested in her, but rather her story, a story she wish had never happened. Her parents continued to fight, though not as often as when Eria was present, but more than they had before. Her siblings shunned her ever greater.

Six more years passed. Several more of Oktavia's siblings married and moved on. Others had formed circles of friends outside the house. But Oktavia herself was simply alone. The fame had passed but not all the memories had. Now she had a different pasttime. Oktavia learned well how to avoid those she didn't want to see her. With these skills, she began to travel around the city. Always alone, she began to lash out at the city around her. Able to sneak out, she figured she could begin to sneak in as well.

She started off small, roaming people's houses when she learned they were gone. She became skilled at lying too, times when she was caught sneaking out a window. As part of these trips she eventually started to take minor trinkets, things people might notice were gone. She preferred doing it to her father's friends, this way able to learn if she had been caught or not.

Her last theft was truly a step too far. She decided she would see if her father could catch her. Knowing he was on duty, she snuck into the warehouse he watched over the slaves. Her goal was to hang a sign towards the back of the cells, nothing fancy. Something her father would complain about to know if she had succeeded. While she made it in fine, one of the slaves saw her engaged her in conversation. He convinced her to open his door so he could escape. She agreed, figuring it would embarass her father. As he made to leave, he hit her over the head, took her picks and proceeded to begin opening the cages for the other slaves. They were ready to try to revolt and escape. They were not great in numbers, and the guards well armed, so were quickly put down.

A few hours later, Oktavia awoke in her bed. Her father had managed to get her out of there before the owner had come, and one of his men brought her home. The two argued about the events, finally Oktavia leaving.

Writing Sample:

Oktavia made her way to her target, a two story home. She had visited two nights before with her father, a professional visit of two guard captains discussing business. Rodori took her with as she and her brother had been fighting again, and he wanted to keep the two of them separated.

Turning down the back alley, Oktavia calmly walks, keeping an eye out for anyone in the alley. A beggar had caught her two weeks ago and she didn’t want to have to try evading another so soon. The coast clear, she quickly moved and began to climb the side of the building. Once again she was glad for her flat figure, one thing she didn’t inherit from her mother Eria Deepshade.

Reaching the second story window she silently opened it and ducked inside. She knew no one was to be home, it’s occupant at the theater, a bit of information he let slip during the visit. Regardless she knew to be cautious, anything could have happened.

She made her way down the stairs, her heart racing but her breathing even. She crept down each step until finally making her way to the ground floor. She didn’t dare light a candle, using only the natural light coming in from outside. She had memorized the layout from two nights prior, carefully walking the path she planned. Her goal was in sight, his new painting. It depicted the death of Aroden and the rise of Asmodeus, or so he claimed. To her it was an ugly thing. Pulling out her dagger, she put two gashes into the work marking an X. Revenge completed.

The man who’s house she was in was a cruel taskmaster. Oktavia had learned he used the events with her mother to discredit Rodori and beat him out of a promotion, enough of a reason for her to be here now. But it was worse. He was also a bully to the children in the streets, cruel to any who crossed his path. Three days prior he had his men beat a boy who’s only crime was bumping into him. One of his arms was broken and he had several fractured ribs. Rodori wanted to say things to him, but had to hold his tongue in check.

Instead, Oktavia decided she would do what she could. So here she was, in his house. The picture destroyed, she proceeded to head to his bedroom. She knew his wife had expensive tastes in jewelry, and would probably not know a few pieces were missing. Finding the box was easier than she had thought. Opening the contents, she started to rummage through. If everything was missing, she was certain she’d draw more attention than she wanted. But a couple pieces they wouldn’t as readily notice. Hopefully it would be attributed to vandalism and time would pass before the earrings she selected would be noticed missing.

A door opening below alerted Oktavia to the return of it’s owners. ”Oh no, they’re home early!” She thought to herself, quietly moving to the doorway. A curse from below said they already found the picture. Hugging tight the hood she was wearing around her head, she pocketed her prize and opened the door, running across the hall. It was too late to sneak out, that she knew. She only had one chance.

Her run alerted the man below of her presence, sending him running up the stairs. A trained soldier and not in his armor, he was quick. Oktavia gave it her all, coming to her entrance, now her egress. She leaped out the window, rolling as she hit the ground. The impact jarred her body, but she managed to minimize the damage. Taking off down the street, she heard a loud thud behind her. Apparently he was not so lucky jumping out the window. It was a matter of course for her to lose him in the crowd at this point.

An hour later she was at her fences store, Dirk Glasgow. ”I dunno, girlie, these don’t look to be pure silver to me.” He looked through his eyepiece, examining the material.

Oktavia knew he could be lying to her. She only had a brief look, and she wasn’t very good at appraising quality. But Dirk was about as honest as a fence could be. It was how he made a living, and a dishonest fence was quickly a dead fence. Besides, he hadn’t said they WERE fake. ”C’mon Dirk, you know that’s good material. How about 20 golds for ‘em?”

He looked at them again, and grumbled to himself. ”Fifteen, final offer.”

Oktavia returned a frown, ”Whatever. I’ll take it.”

Coin was exchanged as Dirk smiled at her. ”By the way, I hear the Kasprey Theater House is going to do a production of ’A Shade too Deep’. Probably gonna be lookin’ for some actors. You could probably make a bit of a profit, being Eria’s daughter and all. Whaddya say, want me to put you in contact with ‘em?”

This wasn’t unusual. Dirk had quickly figured out who Oktavia was, and since had tried to put her in touch with various theater groups. For a price of course. Normally Oktavia would decline these offers, but this one especially. ’A Shade too Deep: The Rise and Fall of Eria Deepshade’. ”I’ll pass on that, Dirk. But if you have any better rumors, let me know.”

He just gave her his normal insincere smile, ”Sure thing. Don’t get yourself knifed in the back out there.”

Oktavia took her leave and began heading home. It would be getting dark soon and she had no desire to be killed by a knife in the back, or a shadow beast.

Silver Eyed Shadow:

Appearance in Eidolon Form

When summoned, Oktavia's eidolon will appear as though her shadows rise up and consume her, giving her a shadow appearance. The mark on her forehead will take the appearance of a silvery set of eyes, mistaken for the shadow's eyes if you don't look closely.

Her powers will be to only partially exist within our world, able to lash out with tendrils of shadow at opponents and to bring about darkness.

Evolution wise, I'm looking at a Shadowform/shadowblend, reach with claws to simulate lashing out with shadows, wings for flight, darkness spell like ability, see in darkness ability, and along those lines.
