Sigghild was a fairly happy go lucky barracks rat until her nineteenth birthday. Both of her parents were career military, so the barracks life was a safe existence. She had an almost instinctive knowledge of how to work the system and the personalities. She formally joined when she was seventeen. As a seventeen year old, she was diligent about doing her duty, but equally diligent about having a very good time off duty.
Shortly after her nineteenth birthday, she vanished, only to return three years later with an astonishing number of scars, especially on her back, a working knowledge of both elvish and undercommon and a deep abiding hatred of evil creatures in general. She switched her allegiance from Desna to a more pro-active god (Iomedae) and began to build a reputation as a trouble smasher (much like a troubleshooter, but more up close and personal).
Sigghild is much more focused and serious than before. Her superiors began to use her for more responsible roles. Given a mission, she would look for multiple ways to complete it, and select the means that best suited the goal. If that meant killing all the orcs, then the orcs would all die. But if that meant talking through a difficulty without fighting, she would do that.
Siggy (and she hates that nickname, btw) is a rising star among the junior to middle ranked military officers. She leads combat missions from the front and rushes to any danger point. She has never left anyone behind, but is willing to retreat to conserve her forces. She admits her mistakes and accepts responsibility. All of which has earned her the love and respect of the soldiers she commands.
A forced prostitution ring most recently suffered the impact of her brand of diplomacy and everyone is absolutely certain that the few surviving pimps will never ever do that sort of thing again. She followed a party of pimps and browbeat them into spilling details about their higher ups. She then followed the trail of confessions all the way to the top. Those foolish enough to resist, died. The wiser ones lived, but found new homes either in the Suicide Corps or abroad.
At this point in her career, the military looked to apply polish. Just before her encounter with the slavers she was Lieutenant of the King's Guard, which role involved less guarding and more discretion than the title implies. It also involved very little interaction with the King. Her job was to screen applicants for audiences with the King (under supervision) and to help control his schedule. She has grown mightily in tact since starting the position.
On the lighter side, she loves horses and has been known to gamble (badly) on very pretty ones if they are racers. Her father and mother are both sergeant majors for the king and are pleased to see Sig settling down, but they would still like to see her married and to have grandchildren. A career isn't everything and they aren't getting any younger. Consequently, she'd like a break from constant fighting and, more importantly, her parents. She's almost certain there are eligible men in the other kingdom as well.
