About Sichelgaita One-Eye

A tall, whip-thin young woman with fiery red hair- usually tied in a thin plait - and a black patch over her left eye, Sichelgaita is rarely seen without her spiked half-plate armour, and never without Reason, her masterworked longsword.

Born in the village of Fusil to poor parents - a horse-tamer father and a herbalist mother - Sichelgaita used to have little thought of leaving the village and the Verduran Forest, and might have stayed there for the remainder of her life. Fate, however, had other plans.

The Lumber Consortium has long sought to overturn Fusil's compact with the fey and open that area of the Verduran Forest to exploitation, but on Sichelgaita's 17th birthday, their scheming took a murderous turn. Using their close links with the Aspis Consortium, they dispatched a hefty force of mercenaries (with no proven links to themselves, of course) to destroy the village, ultimately allowing later resettlement. Thanks to early warning by the fey, the people of Fusil and the Druids of the Verduran interior were able to rout the enemy, but not before many outlying homesteads were destroyed. Sichelgaita's father died that day, and her mother and younger brother might have joined him if Sichelgaita herself hadn't managed through sheer luck and stupid bravery to kill one of the mercenary leaders, losing her left eye in the process. To add to the heart rending day Talia, her best friend since childhood, went missing, her home burned to the ground.

With her father dead, her younger brother traumatised, and her best friend missing, Sichelgaita left Fusil, taking with her only the sword of the man she slew. She travelled to Almas, where she joined a small, somewhat impoverished Paladin order. Since that day, she's trained and honed her skill, determined never to let what happened to her home befall anywhere else...at least not if she can help it.
