Old Heirloom weapon was overpowered because it was a TRAIT (by definition representing 1/2 a feat) that gave you 300 gold in weapon upgrade
in other words you started at level 1 with 300 free gold, a feat and +2 to hit. the only limitation of the trait was that you were limited to one specific weapon but thats not a huge drawback as you can just pay to upgrade your weapon. I am not saying it broke the game... but you have to admit it was way more powerful than traits were intended and was pretty much never used except to gain free first level access to a weapon you otherwise not purchase or weild effectively. to be honest mechanically speaking current version is not horrible, you still get a free feat if you want and turning mundane to masterwork is super easy. How would YOU balance the trait ICY? remembering that taits are supposed to be half a feat.
if heirloom weapon is masterwork its like a trait that gives you 300 gold plus the other abilities. another reason it was overpowered as MS mentioned. but it is silly that the weapon that your basically stuck with is not even masterwork. I think that as a trait they could have gotten away with just making the heirloom weapon trait give you a masterwork weapon of your choice then they could get rid of the rich parents trait and all would be well. Lucky for me Im a sword masta. that mek me sword always do masta-work.

heirloom weapon:
You carry a non-masterwork simple or martial weapon that has been passed down from generation to generation in your family (pay the standard gp cost for the weapon). When you select this trait, choose one of the following benefits: proficiency with that specif ic weapon,
make an elf (so that curved blade is martial for you)
you now have a finessable d10 18x2 with +2 to CMB/D Sunder. there is no greater weapon in the history of the game.
this is funny because believe it or not I AM Jamaican! and truth be told we ACTUALLY use pronunciation respelling in net and text communications when we want to. trust me you would not even understand a word of actual Jamaican text speech, hell I barely do my self ^_^ But lis'in bredrin. dis bastadized simplified an easy peasy fa spits and shiggles. we not talkin' fate a' de world philosophy we chat bout game stuff an' when i use dis characta I talk like dis fu fun. However, i do NOT put Charm spells anywhere NEAR that catagory. I'm a 'long-term' thinker. Torture will leave MUCH longer scars than a charm will. Ja... but chicks dig da scars After a couple of hours, your mind/thoughts/opinions are returned to you and your non the worse for wear.Ja... cept now you curl up in da corner wonder why you wuz screeming, "yea daddy give me more" instead'a tryin to fight. me, I tek da beat down. After torture it will take a LOT longer to heal... and while you kept you 'free will' You can never play the guitar again... your face may be hideously scarred... you could be crippled... LOTS of 'painful' things that were done to you that you have to live with forever... Why always gotta compare nice gentle charm person to da worst mos' crippling evil torture you can rekkon? scales dont match. If you da kind to use dat kind of torture you prolly da kind to use charm person to mek me rape me kids, kill me mudder and eat me dog. If dat da case I still tek da torture.
I don' lik da stoopid dervish dance too cheaty face campy to me. mek str total ded stat. dut dat just me. Ja, Katana be da betta cuz katana c'n use wid two hand for normal hit den use wid 1 hand for da spell strik PWN! Now dat I look at you stats I see why you want the dex weapon though... gess dat OK but so many dump stat mek me face cry. next level me tek favor enemy min/max ^_^
I look forward to pathfinder 2.o but if this is gonna be .5 edition I'd rather see them just make an Ultimate Core which consolidates the important core changes that came from other books. ... Or dey c'n mek dem big changes dat just piss people off an den i mek a new game called Awesome usin all deez rulz dat a'redy exist an you be play dat next year.
catfolk aint cats any more than humans is monkeys. so catnip prolly dont work on them. but if you want to roll play it for spits and shiggles give them something like +2 dex, +2 str, -2 int, -2 wis and roll random action rolls so that when ever they try to do something they have a 75% chance of doing what they want to do and a 25% chance of doing something else something else does not have to be bad like attacking an ally... maybe they want to attack the target but instead they grapple it and start nibbling its ears. or maybe instead of shooting a bow they try to hoola hoop with it. or they run around the bar offering sex to the person with the longest name. |
