Chopin was how I really got into Classical music. I can never get enough of the 4th Ballade. And Killer GM - I'm with you on the 2nd concerto, both the 2nd movement and the whole thing. There's something immediately accessible about Chopin's music.

I definitely agree. Another thing about Chopin - It just seems to "fit" into your hands to play it. Its not like some of the Liszt pieces that just dont seem to "work" for piano at all. I love playing Chopin. :)

The Chopin "cello" etude (opus 25 no 7) has to be one of my all time favorite pieces.

Dang, I'm really sorry to hear that.

No hard feelings, though. Sometimes things like this just happen. Hope to see you around on the boards.

As Mitnal approaches the stables he begins to get excited. "Horses!" he says to no one in particular.

Shantare makes a face, and reluctantly makes her way into the barn. She obviously doesn't like horses.

Shantare stretches, obviously wanting to get out of the inn. "Well I don't really care what we do, as long as we do something productive. It looks to me like just sitting here isn't really accomplishing anything." She gathers up her bag, and makes to sit up. "My vote would be to start off to wherever we are going."

female human ranger/1

"Yes," Shantare says. "Let's go see the sheriff. I don't think we will get very far in finding the goblins otherwise."

"I mean for making baskets from. I like the colour they add. ... I know there are other uses for Smokegrass but ...," Mitnal says changing the subject with some embarrassment "Anyhow, did you see any kind of grasses or sign on the goblins that might tell us where they hide?"

"No, I actually wasn't looking for grass on the goblins." Says Shantare, obiously glad to have something to keep her busy. "It is a good idea to look at their possesions, though. Did anybody take anything off the goblins?"

"Ta-la-ta-la...
I have a friend who faces any danger,
tracks like a Shriikirri-Quah ranger,
fast and brave, strong and pretty,
what a shame she's not Shoanti.
Ta-la-ta-la Shantare!"

Shantare turns bright red, and attempts to look busy fumbling with her bag. She looks around, frantic for the bar maid to come to give her something to do.

"Yes, I can fight with my crossbow as well." Shantare says to Gengar. "I just didn't have time to get it out during the fight. I'm not much of a teacher, but I could help you some." She suddenly looks very high-and-mighty, with people asking her for help.

female human ranger/1

Shantare sits back in her chair, looking around the room. They are all in need of cheering up. She thinks while looking at Mitnal.

female human ranger/1

"That is quite a tale." Shantare says to Mitnal. "Whether or not it is true is not for me to decide, but it is a fine tale nonetheless." She raises an eyebrow and smiles slyly, obviously not believing him.

female human ranger/1

"Whatever you have that is steaming hot" Shantare says to the lady, dripping and shivering. She settles down into her chair, and looks around at the rest of the inn.

"That may take some time," Jessa states, "Goblins can squirrel themselves away practically anywhere. In the meantime, someone should try to divine any clues left behind...and by that, I mean here at the gravesite as well as the outskirts of town, to determine who led these goblins here and why."

"Yes, I agree." Shantare says to Jessa. "Finding the goblins would take a lot of time, time that we don't have. Also, we have no idea how large this Goblin tribe is. We might be occupied for a long time while the city is left undefended. It looks like there are few people who can actually fight."

'If I hadn't been the youngest my father might have lived long enough to teach me this skill,' Mitnal thinks glumly.

Shantare looks at Mitnal for a long moment. "If you are willing to learn, then yes, I suppose I could teach you. Once we had a spare moment, of course." She looks away at the tracks, and puzzles again at the large one.

"We couldn't just stand there and watch people get killed, now could we?" She says to the mayor. "I'm sure anyone in our position would do the same."

female human ranger/1

Shantare walks around the town, looking for a goblin that might be hiding, her hate of goblins growing at every scene of wreckage she comes across. Finding no goblins, she wearily makes her way to the Rusty Dragon and falls into bed.

The noble seems to be stunned. Or possibly in shock. His eyes are wide, and fixed on you.

Shantare is still not far from the noble, so she overhears his conversation. Ungrateful brute! She thinks spitefully. I help save you too! She looks away, pretending not to be offended by this.

female human ranger/1

I'm guessing that I can attack again?

Shantare strides over the goblin she has just killed, and attacks another.

Attack roll 7+3=10. I don't think that is enough, but if it is; 1d6+3 =6 points damage

Shouldn't that be +3 on your attacks with your rapier? 2 from strength and +1 for class. Not to be a nosy parker but ...

Ooops! My mistake. Thanks for noticing that.

Shantare takes another swing at the goblin, although she is visibly weakened. Come on! She thinks. It's just a goblin!

Attack roll 12+2=14. 1d6+2=6 points damage.

Shantare advances towards the goblins. She looks in surprise at the flash of color from Jessa, not realizing she had people behind her. She swings her rapier at the closest goblin.

Attack roll 10+3=13. If that was enough, then 1d6+2=4 points damage.

Shantare looks around, looking for more goblins. She notices the noble, and starts running towards him.If you carried a weapon with you, this wouldn't happen! She thinks with some spite, and runs over to help him.

Your rapier strike nearly ran the goblin through at the shoulder, and hurt him badly, you think, but he's still up, and now quite angry. He swings at you with the dog slicer and gives you a nasty cut in return. See my previous post on the subject for the actual rolls, but I believe you take 4 points of damage.

Shantare's blood starts to boil with the indignity of being hurt by a goblin, and readies another swing with her rapier

Is it back to my initiative yet?

Shantare air of happiness from the festival disappears, and she scowls with anger. Nasty Goblins! She draws out her rapier and advances to the nearest goblin.

female human ranger/1

Shantare walks around the festival, trying to take in as much as possible. Every time she passed a merchant selling something she liked, (which was quite often), she look down at her very limp coin purse and sigh. I really do need to find a way to get some money. After a while of looking hungrily at all of the things she couldn't afford, she wandered off to Kinmorn's archery range.
"I see the range is popular." She says, noticing the children. "Can I try?"

female human ranger/1

Ooops! I posted the last one before I noticed there was another page, so here is the next day.

Shantare awakes and dresses excitedly, happy that the festival day has finally come. She rushes downstairs, grabs a bite to eat, then rushes out the door. She looks around at the merchants.

Has the festival started yet, or will it wait till the afternoon?

"Alright if I sit with you?" She looks a little embarrassed, usually content with sitting with herself, but at the moment is tired of silence.

"Not a lot to do in Sandpoint at the moment if you're not getting ready for the festival. How did you enjoy you're stay at the Rusty Dragon last night? I don't often eat there myself but it made an interesting change of pace yesterday. I plan on eating dinner tonight at the White Deer. You are certainly invited to try it out, perhaps get a little more of the 'flavor' of the town. Bring whoever you'de like if you want to come."

"No, there is not much to do. I've been just wandering around all day long." She says with a sigh. "I actually found the Rusty Dragon quite nice, much nicer than I expected, really. Maybe I will eat at the White Deer tonight, It would be a nice change of scenery." She looks around, wondering if her other companions would eat at the White Deer.

Kinmorn sees Shantare walking around as he sets up his archery range. He gives a friendly wave.

Shantare looks around, as if not believing that someone would be waving to her, then starts to walk uncertainly to Kinmorn. "Hello. Practicing your archery? I actually have found crossbows more suited to my needs." She says with a matter-of-fact tone.

"Good morning, M'lady. Indeed, we have porridge with honey, fresh bacon, and we can even make you a poached quail egg, if you like. Your friend was up and out early this morning. I heard her mention she was on her way to find Mitnal, the basket weaver."

"Porridge and honey would be nice." She says to Kynni with a dismissive wave of her hand, her mind on the coming festival. She looks over her shoulder at the door, wondering if Jessa would still be with Mitnal. She sighed while looking around, wondering what she would do until the festival.

"This should be fine, I think." But Jessa pauses to defer to Shantare, in case the outdoors woman preferred to shun a soft bed in favor of the hard ground...or, in this case, floor boards.

"Is there a place for me to wash away the trail dust before supper, as well?" she asks Ameiko.

"I'm fine sleeping on the floor, actually." Shantare says, uncertain to be sharing a bed with a person whe hardly knows. She looks around the room with approval, obviously fairly pleased with their new accomadations. This isn't such a rustic town after all. She thinks with a smirk
