Dishonorably discharged from the Molthuni military for dereliction of duty. Refused to follow an order to raze a village in Nirmathas during one of Molthune's many assaults.

Charged as a war crime, Rainart escaped and fled to Lastwall, where he took up the mantle of paladinhood in Iomedae's name, spending several years beating back the relentless hordes of orcs, undead, and the occasional demons spilling out from the Worldwound to the east. He reached the rank of Sergeant a second time, and kept it for over a decade.

An incubus named Garrovix seduced Rainart and caused him to fall from grace when he agreed to help the incubus slay a half-elf merchant named Tamrin Salbec in order to "liberate" Garrovix. The murder of another mortal being caused him to lose his powers, and in a rage, he slew Garrovix.

Rainart became bitter and directionless, wandering the countryside throughout Nirmathas, Belkzen, and Lastwall, making a name for himself as a ruthless mercenary for decades.

Now in his twilight years, some of his anger has dissipated, and Rainart longs for a cause to fight for once more. Having heard word of a legion of renegade hobgoblins active in Nirmathas, he's come spoiling for a fight against his former compatriots.
