"What is this force comprised of Acolyte? Were it possible, not risking our heavier equipment would be preferable with regards to current circumstances. For now, we must get equipment and our Brother Ancient settled into the tunnels and we shall reconvene with the Inquisitor once those tasks our complete." And Scorpelio pointedly turns away from the Acolyte to the Dreadnought and continues. "Come, Brother Ancient, the tunnels are this way." With that, Scorpelio will try to lug as much gear with him as possible as he leads the Contemptor down into the tunnels. Well, since no mention of anyone else taking the TDA was made, I guess I have it on? Yay for Ap15 everywhere I guess :P
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
If I am taking the TDA, I'd also take the Power Fist. I'd probably Arm Mount a Melta Gun to it if no one is taking it and just roll with the Combi-Plasma we have for maximum versatility. Otherwise, I agree with the list. We probably should take every Power Weapon in storage though since being Space Marine-Grade they're pretty much relics in their own right :P
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
"I Shall see to it, Brother Raptor, that any xenos who dare attack our base result in naught but an act of suicide on their part." What roll would I have to make - if any - to set the parameters of the bases automated defenses to follow the guidelines provided my Micrastur? I don't think the Siegecraft talent (which I dont have) would be applicable? Soooo...tech-use? Set Automated Defenses: 1d100 ⇒ 17
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
"Well, Brothers, it is now, I feel, that we are truly tested beyond what would be expected of us. Beset on all sides by the perfidy and arrogance of the Xenos, we go now in the name of the Emperor to stem the tide of their advance and to lay them low beneath our feet. Ave Imperator!" And queue base building montage? :p
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
Yeah. Its just a shame we can't slap on at least the Multimelta onto the TDA Suit since there is a Model Precedent now. with the Justaerin Kit though it is 30k Specific. With the Arm Mounting though, the TDA suit could have a Wrist Mounted Storm Bolter (GK Stlye) or Melta Gun and Pair it up with the Heavy Flamer to have on hand. Its also a shame that we don't have a Cyclone Missile Launcher but them's the Breaks. But yeah, for general-purpose, we'll probably be using our Bolters for the most part with maybe 1 other secondary weapon as a safety net in case something unexpected happens. We do have a limited supply of SIA though so we'd have to use it pretty sparingly. But we do have an Underslung Grenade Launcher to make use of so that can help us off-set our SIA Consumption. ...Also its Tau so we kinda want to run in and punch them in the face since they categorically suck at that AND we have access to Power Weapons.
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
Never saw TDA with a Servo Arm? Well then... Let me enlighten you! Also, my Servo-Arm is currently a Breaching Augur :p Also, having a Suspensor'd Heavy Bolter means that it can fire up to 12 shots a Turn due to 2 half-action full-auto attacks. Dang. Sniping at almost nearly a Kilometer away is definitely something we need to try if only for the shenanigans of it.
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
Argh! You're right, we don't have an Assault Cannon available. Well, since we have missile launchers, Lascannons and a Multimelta at our disposal, I'd rather not sacrifice that flexibility in our weapon options by strapping our devastator in TDA. If we're all for letting you have it and you don't mind using a Combi-Weapon (plasma/flamer), Storm Bolter or Heavy Flamer, then lets do it. Otherwise, it seems like I'd be the only other person who seemingly wants to use it and since I'd be unable to use my Plasma Gun per RAW for what TDA can take, I'd be able to hand it over to one of you guys which would give our Armory a total of 2 Plasma Guns and 1 Combi-Plasma at our Disposal which can be pretty useful to have in addition to us having 2 Plasma Pistols for use. (Too bad we don't have a Dark Angel with us. So. Much. Plasma.) We also have an Arm Mounting so one of us could also strap a Basic or Pistol Class weapon to their arm which should help with our overall versatility while out and about. Theres also a Suspensor in there that we will obviously strap onto heavy weapons. Too bad we can't slap a Telescopic Sight onto the Lascannon for 900m sniping range. We also have 2 Jump Packs that Micastur and whoever doesnt take the TDA could use to reposition and whatnot. So thats more or less my brain vomit for this :p
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
Yeah we de have a fair amount of TDA-able heavy weapons at our disposal too so its not like he'll get stuck with having to swap to a Storm Bolter. It also means having another auspex at our disposal since if I wore it I'd probably have to choose between my implant or the suits system and whatnot. He wouldnt have his wolf senses though as I doubt it would be all that good to run around in TDA without the helmet on. In my case, all I'd do is have AP 15 all over due to The Flesh Is Weak giving me some decent soak to tank for the squad with. At best it would also mean having a 2nd Heavy Weapon in the squad since I'd be able to One-Hand it.
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
"How far below the surface are these tunnels found? Deep enough and they should be safe from most bombardments and since they're tunnels, would mean reinforcing them would be a simpler task though it would possibly limit our escape routes. That said, it would open up our avenues of attack for striking remote and distant locations depending on how traversible these tunnels are. Interesting...very interesting..."
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
"Aye, having any Dreadnought - especially a relic such as He - would be of immense aid to us and I doubt he will object to his inclusion in our operations after such a long dormancy. Though I omitted to bring my Servo-Arm with me for this task, I will confer with the local Tech-Priests to see if we can't get any detailed maps for the area and if we would be able to construct some defences or at least reinforce our primary position in the little time we have to set up." "As for our gear, I am in agreement with your assessment though we should probably decide what to do with our suit of Tactical Dreadnought Armour at our disposal since I highly doubt we'll have the facilities to equip or remove the suit once we leave the station."
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
Brace yourselves for the wall of text! "Hmmm, this being an Agri-World puts us in a very delicate situation. Losing such a resource would mean the deaths of billions unable to subsist without the tithes produced here and, should it be captured, mean that these very same resources would be used to instead feed the foul xenos." "However, we know that we should expect some form of reinforcement unless our envoy's have somehow been intercepted or Astropathic Message been blocked or corrupted - both unlikely events. So, in this scenario, holding out for their arrival would seem like the most prudent measure though with the forces at our disposal and those arrayed against us coupled with our environment, we'd be truly hard pressed to repel them." "The only local terrain that we could use to our advantage is the jungles but that is populated by Aggressive and Territorial native fauna which we have already encountered which, coupled with Kroot presence, would prove more detrimental to our efforts than beneficial." "Whilst a decapitation strike could prove effective, we only would only have a single real opportunity at eliminating the proper target - the identification of which could take a significant amount of time - and were we to fail and eliminate the wrong target, make any and all future efforts much more difficult to accomplish. I would personally advise against such a course of action until such a time as we can effectively make use of such a method." "Too, speaking as a Son of Dorn and Imperial Fist, I would advise against fighting a defensive siege; the terrain being wholly unsuited to such a tactic not to mention our lack of a clearly defensible location and siege materiel." "However, if we could funnel the majority of the Xenos forces into engaging us in the Habitation Blocks of the planet and fighting on our terms in confined quarters where our lower numbers and, in our specific cases, greater efficacy in all things combat, then we should be able to whittle down their numbers sufficiently whilst also possibly stalling them long enough for reinforcements to arrive." "The main issue with this idea is making these Habitation Blocks or other locations such as Manufactora and Generatorium locations of such value that their loss would either cripple the Xenos Efforts or render the planet worthless." "With regards to the latter idea of rendering the world worthless, threatening the Overload and/or Meltdown of the Planetary Generatorium and the venting of its byproduct into the atmosphere and possibly causing a planetary apocalypse might prove incentive enough though, at this stage, this is all supposition and guesswork on my part since, despite my calling as a follower of the Omnissiah, I ply my trade in matters of warfare. If it were possible for us or at least I to obtain the technical specifics of this planet's machinery from the local Tech-Priests then it might provide another path to victory for us."
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
Scorpelio will update his squad as being friendlies for the automated weapons IFF and update the systems to look out for Tau and Kroot before meeting up with the rest of the squad. "No matter which course we decide to go for, Brothers, it would be best for us to confer with the Inquisitorial Agents and Imperial Command before coming to a decisive plan of action. Whilst aiming for a quick victory would be best for us due to our limited supplies, we have no real idea as to how many Xenos are attacking us and while a Decapitation Strike would disrupt them for a time, would it be enough to break them utterly? Too, since we have no idea how much material they're devoting to this conquest so drawing things out might be more detrimental to us and our limited supplies."
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
What are the bases automated defenses like? Do they need to be repaired/reactivated? "It seems we haven't much time brothers. I'm forwarding the inventory of the base's Armoury to you all. It seems we have some powerful tools at our disposal but I would like to make the least amount of use of them as possible. Still, equip yourselves as you see fit though I would caution against using the suit of Terminator Armour currently at our disposal; at least for now." "Brother Ancient, will you be joining us as we meet whatever passes for Imperial Command of this world?" "Yes, Brother Micrastur, I'm currently in the process of doing so. Currently running a Systems Diagnostic on the bases Automated Defenses, I should have a report soon."
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
I guess we'll have to play smart now! We cant just go in like Rambo and just Run & Gun :p BOYS WEVE GOT SOME TDA :O! And holy moly Browman, that is one heck of an Armory! ....I'm really tempted to go This Route but with a Power Fist and Wrist Mounted Storm Bolter / Plasma Gun.
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
"Many thanks, Brother Ancient." And Scorpelio will make his way to the Primary C&C center or equivalent and attempt to gain access to the Stations Systems unless he encounters resistance but not before sharing the Floor Plans with the rest of his squad. Tech-Use: 1d100 ⇒ 4 With a Combi-Tool for +10 and Int 44, thats 5 DoS. Unless I have to shoot something first :P
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
"Certainly. Brother Ancient, you know the layout of this base the best, where would the Primary Access Cogitator or, failing that, a secondary access cogitator node be located?" he asks after sheathing his Combat Knife, checking over his bolter and clamping it to his thigh finally switching back out this his Plasma Gun instead.
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
Frustrated by his ineffectual attempts at shooting the Servitors dead, Scorpelio drop-and-maglocks his bolter to his Breastplate and draws the Combat Knife sheathed at his waist and attempts to disable it as quickly as possible, his Breaching Augur rearing back to strike as well. Combat Knife Swing: 1d100 ⇒ 76This is getting frustrating guys... His combat knife seemingly doing no damage to the Servitor, Scorpelio brings down his Servo-Arm mounted Breaching Augur upon it. Breaching Augur: 1d100 ⇒ 10vs WS 47 for 3 DoS This uses my Reaction for this turn. It does hit the Servitors head though!
If the augur doesn't use the Arm's 75 Unnat x2 Strength, Scorpelio in his armour has 67 Strength with Unnat x2.
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
Not used to hearing the deafening rapport of an a Dreadnought-borne Kheres Assault Cannon in such tight confines, Scorpelio's first shots go wide, not wanting to waste any more bolts, he fires again into the press of Servitors. Semi-Auto, Short Range Shots: 1d100 ⇒ 77 vs BS 68
Yet his bolts do little to thin the number of servitors - or any visible damage for that matter. He mentally opines that the extensive use of his Plasma Gun has dulled his proficiency with a Bolter much to his dismay.
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
"I follow, Brother Raptor." And Scorpelio switches to his Bolter, knowing that with the nature of this engagement, putting more shots down range will be more beneficial to their endeavors. Aiming down the same corridor as Micrastur, Scorpelio readies his weapon. Overwatch at Full-Auto down the corridor as soon as Micrastur opens fire and a Servitor is visible.
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
I assume that the Binary Chatter is just random garbage and not anything intelligible for Scorpelio to discern? "Hmm...Any of these rooms contain a veritable arsenal of wargear that may be of great use to us in the coming battles we're to engage in. Preventing any harm coming to these items should be our priority though, for all I know, they might have already been destroyed when these servitors." "What say you, Brothers? Lure them out room by room down these hallways to the training room? Though I fear that any disruption would cause those in the other chambers to go berserk and to lash out."
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
"Aye, funneling them all into tight confines would definitely work into our favor. I do, however, wish for us to conduct the cleansing in the isolated sub-basements wherein they currently reside or as closely as possible mainly to prevent any possible tech-corruption from spreading to the rest of the station."
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
Dont worry dude! Its all good. "Then, Brother Ancient, we have our task for the current moment. If you are able to ascertain the status of your fellow Ancient who were posted here on Vigil alongside you while we clear the lower sections of the station, we shall reconvene later once our task is accomplished" And he finally relaxes to turn to the Raptor. "It seems we have a task laid before us. What say you Squad Leader?"
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
"They are a young Xenos race by galactic standards, Venerable One, the reason as to why they were not exterminated upon discovery is a mystery even to me but, they are not to be taken lightly." And he breaths a sigh of relief over the teams comms. "While they are unable to perform warp travel and are thus slow to respond to distant threats, their technology is otherwise as advanced as it is profane. Primarily focused on shooting and mobility, these blue, three-fingered and cloven footed Xenos make extensive alliances with other minor Xenos races to compensate for their low numbers." "Honestly, Ancient Cousin, the only reason they remain a thorn in our side is because they aren't big enough of a threat for us to devote the necessary resources to eradicating them; Orks, Eldar and the Great Enemy are magnitudes more worthy of opposition than these bottom feeders."
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
Well, we're of the same bloodline so hopefully I can swing this our way. "Roger that. We share the same Genesire in Dorn so hopefully his internment has left him whole enough to recognize that." and Scorpelio faces the Ancient Dreadnought and whispers "Primarch-Progenitor, may your guidance fill me so we of your lineage may instead join forces to fight back the encroaching xenos." lowering his weapons and putting himself between him and the rest of his squad turning in such a way that his Bright Yellow Imperial Fist Icon be facing the Templar and shouts back: "HAIL, ANCIENT AND VENERABLE COUSIN! SON OF DORN, THE PRAETORIAN OF TERRA! AND FELLOW ANGEL OF DEATH IN ETERNAL SERVICE TO THE EMPEROR OF MANKIND!" he greets the Adamantium Behemoth. "I, FELLOW SON OF DORN UNDER THE BANNER OF THE IMPERIAL FISTS, AM HERE BY WRIT OF MY VIGIL WITH THE DEATHWATCH ALONGSIDE MY COMPANIONS TO RECLAIM THIS WATCH STATION AND TO BRING IT BACK INTO OPERATIONAL STATUS!" He States. "TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE VENERABLE BROTHER FOR THE TAU ARE ASSAULTING THIS WORLD AND WE PLAN TO IMPEDE THEIR ATTEMPTS WHILE A FLEET OF THE IMPERIAL NAVY TRANSITS TO AID US IN THE DEFENCE OF THIS SYSTEM!" "BY YOUR WILL WE SHALL DO ALL WE CAN TO BRING THIS STATION BACK ONLINE AND AWAKEN ANY BRETHREN YOU HAVE SERVING VIGIL ALONGSIDE YOU! AND TOGETHER WE SHALL FACE THE XENOS THREAT TOGETHER AND RIVERS OF THEIR BLOOD SHALL BE SPILT FOR THEIR CRIME OF ATTACKING A WORLD BELONGING TO THE IMPERIUM OF MAN!" And, speech done, he remains in the same position but lowers his voice and whispers to his team over their internal vox network "It is out of my hands now, brothers, should my Venerable Cousin be intent upon our destruction, I'd be loathed to inflict any harm upon one so honored as to be interred within the mighty frame of a Contemptor as well as spill the blood of one of Dorns lineage. By the Omnissiah I pray that his internment hasn't affected him gravely yet..."
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
"Prime Guardian? That is a designation I've not encountered before..." Inhaling sharply, he continues" Quickly now brothers we must reach the Command and Control center for this station and shut down the automated defence systems as well as bring the primary power reactor back online if it isn't already." And Scorpelio, plasma gun at the ready, follows the team lead down the hallway.
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
"Aye, indeed Brother Wolf, you and yours definitely stand out more than we do especially in the colors of our Vigil. Were I in Chapter colors, however, I would think the situation reversed - at least at a distance. But, for now, we have tasks to perform." "It shall be done, Brother Raptor." I'll try to appease the machine spirit. VERY disappointed in myself for not having thought of bringing Sacred Unguents. As he starts working on the Door Panel, Scorpelio will start chanting in Techna-Lingua to appease the Machine Spirit as he attempts to coerce it to open the door and cease hostilities for we are Space Marines in the service to the Omnissiah and Emperor and are here to bring the station back online so we may repel a Xenos invasion. tech-use 44 + 10 = 54: 1d100 ⇒ 74 At this point, I'll use another FP to Re-roll because apparently RNGesus isn't on my side.
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
"The doors are made of Adamantine Brother Librarian my Plasma Gun is unlikely to work. Now, if nothing appears from these doors anytime soon, then I'll put the Breaching Augur I brought along for such an eventuality to good us" He replies flexing his Servo-Arm-Now-Breaching-Augur.
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
"Aye, Wolf Brother, there are two of us here present who could draw their lineage back to the Legiones of Old I'm an Imperial Fist But I doubt the Watch would leave such Venerable Brothers behind at a dormant station, to do so would be, to me, a slight upon their honor. I am of the opinion that these are either STC Automated Defense Turrets or Heavy Combat Servitors." And Scorpelio quickly packs his Combi-Tool away and draws his Plasma Gun taking cover by the doorway if possible.
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
Would I have security clearance codes to get into the watch station? I think we talked about this and I dont. Seeing the console, Scorpelio brusquely walks towards it and assess its current state. If it is workable, he will first attempt inputting standard Adeptus Astartes clearance codes to see if he can get the doors to open; either his own Chapter Specific ones, his Techmarine ones or any Deathwatch ones he'd have maybe even all of them if he can. If those don't work, he'll attempt to appease the Consoles Machine Spirits and supplicate it to open the door so he may gain access to the station so that he may bring it back into honorable service within the Watch so that it may provide unto us, the Emperor's Angels of Death, the necessary means to repulse a foul Tau invasion upon one of His domains. As he does so he calls out to the team over the vox "Cover me, Brothers, I have no idea if I'll be able to get past these doors with ease and if I am unable to, then we'd best be prepared for any automated countermeasures." Tech Use 44 + 10 combi tool =54: 1d100 ⇒ 65 If the test is Ordinary or Harder, thats a fail. Otherwise, at Routine or easier, its a success.
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
Scorpelio follows the Longfangs lead and scans the area for any threats. The idea that there are more of those reptiles skulking about doesn't sit well with him. Awareness = Perception 45 + 20 Auspex Implant + 20 Heightened Senses and Auto-senses. Total of 85
"Indeed, we cannot afford to be slowed down by the native fauna."
Male Human Rank 1 Techmarine
"If it is in a functional state and I have the necessary raw materials, given time I should be able to keep us supplied to an extent. Though without Servitors to speed up the process, the speed at which I'll be able to keep us supplied will be greatly limited should the situation come to it. However, if we are able to get into contact with the planetary Mechanicus Manufactora, it should help us immensely if I can sway the local Tech-Priests into aiding us in our endeavor." And he promptly stores his gear and takes his seat aboard the Thunderhawk. |
