Background::
Few remember where Scalebite hatched, and he rarely speaks of it himself. He simply says he was born beneath an unforgiving sun, where strength was measured by the scars one carried and mercy was considered a flaw. His jagged teeth and weathered scales earned him the nickname "Scalebite" long before he chose it as his own, a reminder of the life he left behind. Though he survived through cunning and ferocity, he found little purpose beyond the next meal and the next fight, wandering the roads as little more than another dangerous drifter.
Everything changed when the Refuge of Wonders crossed his path. Expecting suspicion and steel, Scalebite instead found laughter, open hands, and a warm meal. The circus welcomed those the rest of the world dismissed as monsters, oddities, and misfits, asking only that they contribute their talents and protect one another. Under Carlyle the Magnificent's guidance, Scalebite discovered that discipline could replace brutality, and that the roar of an applauding audience was sweeter than the cheers of a bloodthirsty crowd. Whether astonishing spectators with impossible feats, guarding the troupe from danger, or quietly helping raise the tents before dawn, he finally found something worth defending.
Now, as both a Pathfinder and a proud member of the Refuge of Wonders, Scalebite travels not to prove he is the strongest, but to ensure others never have to endure the loneliness he once knew. He believes every forgotten soul deserves the chance to belong somewhere, regardless of their appearance or past. Though his imposing frame and toothy grin still frighten strangers, those who come to know him find a steadfast protector with a surprisingly dry wit and an unwavering loyalty to his found family. Wherever the circus sets its tents, Scalebite stands watch, ready to remind the world that even those born with fangs can become a source of hope.
