Personality: Saru is gregarious, funny, quick-speaking, and completely untruthful. He hasn't told anybody his real name for years, and enjoys taking peoples' identities for fun just to, say, clean out their bank account or fool their wife into sleeping with him.
History: Saru grew up in Minkai, living city life with his father since he was very little. Ever since he was small, he always noticed the discrimination that his father met in town. In his human form, he was too recognizable with his distinctive auburn hair, and in his fox form he was regularly bullied, especially with smelly chemicals poured all over his nose or other such nasal tortures.
Saru got very tired of it, very quickly, and it took a long time to decide, but when he was an early teenager he abandoned his father and struck out on his own, leaving his home city in Minkai and attempting to travel as far away as he could get. There was nothing as oppressive to him as Tian culture, after all, and so the very first place he ended up going was the Crown of the World, to negotiate passage across the frozen wasteland.
Perhaps "negotiate" is the wrong word. Perhaps "steal the identity of a noblewoman for as long as it took to cross the Crown before abandoning the caravan once he had reached the Lands of the Linnorm Kings".
He had a fun, adventuresome time in Varisia, then, but it was unfulfilling. As many Harrow decks he went through, cheating people out of their gold for fake readings, and as many houses he cleaned out, he could never seem to do a lot more than make the ends meet. He needed...some way to gain large, ridiculous amounts and/or piles of cash. He needed a big job.
Greatest Fear: Saru's greatest fear is to be in an unescapable prison, where nobody will speak to him and there is no light.
Uncrossable Moral Line: Saru will not kill a man without provocation, nor will he steal from the very poor or cause a child pain.
Physical Description: In either form, Saru is lean and very thin, and nor particularly tall either. He stands about 5'6'' and weighs about 110lbs. His fur in fox and hybrid form, as well as his hair in his natural humanoid form, is completely black.
Goals and reason for accepting the letter of invitation: Saru's goals are very, very simple. He wants wealth, and he wants to see the world under a guise of legitimacy. On the other end, he has a very particular set of skills that he wishes to be able to use. There are several things that he can do that very few people in the world can do.
