About Sarnath Shepard

Character Sheet on the Mythweavers website.

Appearance:
Sarnath has certainly seen better days. His facial hair is overgrown, covering his chin and cheeks in a sheet of wild brown hair. His eyes are large and round, always out of focus, as if constantly daydreaming. Sarnath is well-built, tanned and fit, though not particularly muscular. At 5'5'', he is relatively short, and his limbs stick close to his body.
Sarnath wears long, dark green robes, the edges of their sleeves decorated with a convoluted pattern in deep blue. On the back of the robes' hood a lizard is depicted, its tail coiling around itself multiple times before wrapping around the robes' neck. Most of the day, Sarnath can be seen carrying his signature placard, a large wooden board on which a sentence is written in large green letters: "A reckoning is not to be postponed indefinitely."

Backstory:

"Hearken now, sons of Riddleport, hearken, for the end is nigh!"

Sarnath lived a seemingly normal life. His job, while not something he took pride in, was passable: a door-to-door merchant, offering various items and unneeded deals at the comfort of your home. He lived alone in a house on the edge of the Windward District, watching the Varisian gulf in sombre silence. But on what little free time he had, Sarnath didn't go drink or gamble like his few friends did; instead, he sat with what strange book he could find and studied occult and arcane esoterica, trying to unravel the mysteries of his dreams. Yes, since he was young, Sarnath was plagues by dreams of unspeakable horrors and unthinkable images. One thing connected all these dreams: a dark cloud, sitting perfectly static in the centre of Sarnath's vision of the dream. Sarnath studied day and night to reach the true meaning of the dark cloud, but one day, the cloud came to him.

"Too long have we abused His realm; too long did we go without making a major sacrifice to appease Him!"

The appearance of the blot in the sky shook Sarnath's world. Until now, all manifestations of this eldritch mystery appeared in Sarnath's dreams. Now its influence leaked into the material world, and Sarnath knew this is a sign. The day the shadow appeared, Sarnath had another dream: in this one, a hideous creature with a voice both incomprehensible and crystal clear called to him, telling him of the Great Old One named Bokrug, compelling him to join its cult and spread its faith to the waking world. Years of dreams gnawing into his sanity made Sarnath abide, deciding to abandon his job and warn the people of Riddleport of whatever danger the blot could pose. Days and weeks passed, and no one seemed to care for Sarnath's truths. It was then he decided that the people of Riddleport have ignored Bokrug for too long, and will thus be destroyed by the blot; and if the end is coming, perhaps he should enjoy a normal man's pleasure for once, and try out the Golden Goblin's Cheat the Devil and Take His Gold tournament?

"Bokrug is the Beast in the Water, the Oncoming Storm; all is nothing for him, and nothing is what all will be!"
