Background:
Background:
Sanira was born to human parents, but emerged from the womb as a fetchling. Her parents were appalled, and they abandoned her in Karpad's Shade Row. Raised by fellow fetchlings, Sanira has never known humans to be particularly kind to her. Even her adopted parents were cold and distant, having little desire to raise someone else's burden. At 15 she began to live on her own, in one of the many small shacks that made of the fetchling ghetto.
With an undeniable link to the plane of shadow, she has forever felt the draw of the Midnight Lord ebbing within her very being. At the age of 18, her master reached out to her with a power unlike any she had felt before. As her essence boiled over with newfound energy, the strength of her faith doubled.
She had always been devout - having had the good fortune to be born within the nation of Nidal - but Sanira changed that night. Cutting deep into her body, she marked herself with the Midnight Lord's imagery. Blood poured from her body, and she passed out in a growing pool of her own essence. Yet she did not perish. When she awoke - three days later - her body had not only been healed, but perfected. The scars wound about her like lace embroidery, and each was like a work of vicious art upon her. Four jagged cuts zig-zagged their way across her face, half-blinding her in the left eye. Her legs had been crippled nearly beyond use, with pieces of jagged metal embedded into the skin. Tattoo-like images had imprinted themselves into her torso. On closer inspection, she found these to be burns, scorched into flesh with an otherworldly fire.
The agony was nearly too much to bear, but it was a gift.
She had been made into one of the most perfect and beautiful of Zon-Kuthon's worshippers.
She passed her Lord's trial with flying - greying - colors, and the powers of shadow no longer flowed through her bloodline, but through her very soul.
Appearance:
Sanira stands of average height for a fetchling, weighing a little over 100 pounds before her blackened, jagged armor is included. She is surprisingly muscular for her size, but this has not dulled her sense of wit. Lithe and alacritous, she moves remarkably quickly despite the pair of spiked chains winding about her legs, perpetually digging into the flesh. Dried blood has caked on them, and every so often a few new beads of crimson snake down them. Her armor is embedded with a skull wrapped in chains, in honor of the Midnight Lord. Her helm is topped with a trio of spikes, each ending in a stained silver point. Beneath the metal that covers much of her body, she wears a simple priest's garb.
Only her face and forearms remain exposed to the world. Her pale yellow eyes stare ahead, as scars cross her face. The left eye intersects one of these scars, and the eye itself shows signs of the injury. Long, black-grey hair dangles out from the helmet on either side of her face, ending just above her bosom. Her forearms display an intricate scarring that winds up her arms and passed into the metal cage of her armor. Her hands are gauntleted, with each finger bearing razor-like metal nails.
