If you do not mind a bit of advice, I think that giving your familiar the Sage Archetype would be very appropriate. Especially after it becomes an Imp.

I don't mind the advice at all, in fact, I welcome it! And thank you for your input regarding the bluff vs. profession(barrister) question.

Thanks both of you for the quick answers!

Okay, one more (quick?) question regarding Asmodean Advocate. It states that "She can use her Profession (barrister) skill for Bluff and Diplomacy checks. This benefit also extends to her familiar." Now, a viper familiar grants a +3 bonus on bluff checks. So, does that bonus still apply if an Asmodean Advocate is using the Profession(barrister) skill in place of a bluff checK? In other words, do you have to actually be rolling a "bluff" check vs. a "profession(barrister) for bluff check" to get the +3 bonus? It seems intent would suggest that, given that you're required to take the viper, that the bonus would apply regardless of what actual skill is being rolled (you're still ultimately attempting to "bluff" someone), and even though it's pretty much perfectly in character to start rules lawyering, I'd rather not have the DM (and the players) hate me THAT much.

Hello Folks,

I've got a concept for a LN "infernal lawyer" character via the Asmodean Advocate archetype. (see link below). As I intend to stay out of melee combat as much as possible, opting for dexterity in lieu of strength, I'm looking for any compatible options that let me exchange unneeded armor proficiencies for something at least possibly more useful, even if sub-optimal. The character will be heavily skewed towards social interactions, opting for ranged combat via channel ray and/or ranged weapons/spells. I figure I'm going to be sticking to light armor. Cloistered cleric seems like it might be compatible but I don't claim to be an expert at Pathfinder or PFS so I figured I'd ask her before I show up at a table with the character.

If this option isn't legal, anyone know of any other options that would legally mesh with Asmodean Advocate in line with my previously stated character intent?
