Traits
Child of Oppara (Appraise): You belong to a noble family that matters in Taldor, though as the story begins you may or may not be on good terms with your relatives. Your upbringing among the city’s well-to-do gives you an upper hand when it comes to knowledge of high society, and you start the game with a modest inheritance. With Princess Eutropia’s efforts to provide for Taldor’s common citizens and overturn years of tradition, new lines are being quietly drawn in the sand, and you have found yourself embroiled in these intrigues whether you intended to be or not.

With this trait, the assumption is that you belong to a minor noble family (and can make up your family name). In this case, your family keeps a small manor in Aroden’s View or Senate’s Hill. If you want to be a member of one of Oppara’s major noble families, you must take the Noble Scion feat at 1st level.

You gain a +1 trait bonus on Appraise and Knowledge (nobility) checks, and one of these skills is always a class skill for you. The Noble Scion feat (see the sidebar) does not have a Charisma prerequisite for you. In addition, you start play with a noble’s outfit, a signet ring, and a single additional nonmagical item worth no more than 200 gp.

Rich Parents: Your starting wealth increases to 900 gp.

Tactician: You gain a +1 trait bonus on initiative checks. In addition, once per day when you make an attack of opportunity, you gain a +2 trait bonus on the attack roll.

Drawbacks
Vain: Whenever you fail an opposed Charisma-based check, you take a –2 penalty on all Charisma-based checks for the next 24 hours.

Feats
Martial Weapon Prociency, Simple Weapon Proficiency, Light Armor Proficiency, Medium Armor Proficiecny, Shield Proficiency

Extra Performance: You can use bardic performance for 6 additional rounds per day.

Noble Scion (Basri): You gain a +2 bonus on all Knowledge (nobility) checks, and that chosen Knowledge skill is always considered a class skill for you.

Basri (Elven and Elven Curve Blade): You come from the long line of ambassadors, diplomats, and travelers that make up the Basri, and your family maintains the strongest ties to the elven nation of Kyonin of any Taldan humans. Select one of the following as a bonus starting language: Celestial, Elven, Gnome, Sylvan. You gain proficiency in one of the following weapons: longbow (including composite), longsword, rapier, or shortbow (including composite). If you gain proficiency in all martial weapons at 1st level, you can instead select elven curve blade.

Scribe Scrolll: You can create a scroll of any spell that you know. Scribing a scroll takes 2 hours if its base price is 250 gp or less, otherwise scribing a scroll takes 1 day for each 1,000 gp in its base price. To scribe a scroll, you must use up raw materials costing half of this base price.

Skills 5 (4 Class + 1 Racial)
ACP -5

Non-Standard Skill Bonuses

Special Abilities:

------------------------------
SPECIAL ABILITIES
------------------------------

Bardic Knowledge (EX): A skald adds 1/2 his class level (minimum 1) on all Knowledge skill checks, and may make all Knowledge skill checks untrained.

Inspired Rage (SU): At 1st level, affected allies gain a +2 morale bonus to Strength and Constitution and a +1 morale bonus on Will saving throws, but also take a –1 penalty to AC. While under the effects of inspired rage, allies other than the skald cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration. At 4th level and every 4 levels thereafter, the song’s bonuses on Will saves increase by 1; the penalty to AC doesn’t change. At 8th and 16th levels, the song’s bonuses to Strength and Constitution increase by 2. (Unlike the barbarian’s rage ability, those affected are not fatigued after the song ends.)

If an ally has her own rage class ability (such as barbarian’s rage, bloodrager’s bloodrage, or skald’s inspired rage), she may use the Strength, Constitution, and Will saving throw bonuses, as well as AC penalties, based on her own ability and level instead of those from the skald (still suffering no fatigue afterward). However, inspired rage does not allow the ally to activate abilities dependent on other rage class abilities, such as rage powers, blood casting, or bloodrager bloodlines; the ally must activate her own rage class ability in order to use these features.

Scribe Scroll:At 1st level, the spell warrior receives the Scribe Scroll as a bonus feat.

Raging Song 12 rounds/day (SU):A skald is trained to use music, oration, and similar performances to inspire his allies to feats of strength and ferocity. At 1st level, a skald can use this ability for a number of rounds per day equal to 3 + his Charisma modifier. For each level thereafter, he can use raging song for 2 additional rounds per day.

Starting a raging song is a standard action, but it can be maintained each round as a free action. A raging song cannot be disrupted, but it ends immediately if the skald is killed, paralyzed, stunned, knocked unconscious, or otherwise prevented from taking a free action each round to maintain it. A raging song counts as the bard’s bardic performance special ability for any effect that affects bardic performances. A skald may learn bard masterpieces (Pathfinder RPG Ultimate Magic 21).

A raging song has audible components, but not visual components. Affected allies must be able to hear the skald for the song to have any effect. A deaf skald has a 20% chance to fail when attempting to use a raging song. If he fails this check, the attempt still counts against his daily limit. Deaf creatures are immune to raging songs.

If a raging song affects allies, when the skald begins a raging song and at the start of each ally’s turn in which they can hear the raging song, the skald’s allies must decide whether to accept or refuse its effects. This is not an action. Unconscious allies automatically accept the song. If accepted, the raging song’s effects last for that ally’s turn or until the song ends, whichever comes first.

At 7th level, a skald can start a raging song as a move action instead of a standard action. At 13th level, a skald can start a raging song as a swift action instead.

Versatile Performance (Sing) Sense Motive and Bluff: At 2nd level, a skald can choose one type of Perform skill associated with the skald class. He can use his bonus in that skill in place of his bonus in the associated skills listed below. When substituting in this way, the skald uses his total Perform skill bonus, including class skill bonus, in place of the associated skill’s bonus, whether or not he has ranks in that skill or if it is a class skill. At 7th level, and every 5 levels thereafter, the bard can select an additional type of Perform to substitute.

Well-Versed: At 2nd level, the skald becomes resistant to sonic effects. The skald gains a +4 bonus on saving throws made against bardic performance, as well as all sonic or language-dependent effects.

Background:

Ah, I hate this traveling in the open thing people in caravans do, how do peasants do it? I digress, why am I here, its a long story.

I am a Basri. Hold up, you’re serious? You don’t know what that means? It means that I spent an equal amount of time here in Taldor. Shelyn no, not this small boring town, the capital to be exact. I also spent quite a bit of time in Kyonin, accompanying my father Darius on his diplomatic missions to the elves. You see I am a noble, the 12th in line for the Lion Throne in fact, fine the 28th if you want to be technical about it. Our family have the strongest ties and relation to the elves and so for years now we have secure their aid in helping Taldor.

My father insisted that I learned to defend myself, “Every diplomat faces an attack on their life at some point”, he would tell me every time we traveled to and from Kyonin. As I spent half of my life exploring the magic world of the elves, they taught me how to use the magic of words and song to enhance my burgeoning martial training. This stuck more than the weapon play, and I excelled at using my song to make my father’s diplomatic attaché stronger.

You must have noticed that I am on my own here, yes? Heh, well, that is a story as well. Look I was of age, I can make my own decisions, and its not like my father hasn’t partaken in any “extra-diplomatic” relationships in order to further his own agenda as an ambassador. Was I caught with an elf yes? Did my father punish me by sending me to this town as an ambassador from Opparra? Yes, but look if you let me into this caravan, I can be your diplomat. You can put my abilities to your use. And maybe just maybe if I do a good enough job, my father will let me come back to Taldor. And do you know what I’m going to do if that happens? Finally get a nice meal and a long bath.

Appearance and Personality:

Bri is a 20 year old Taldan woman, with blonde hair and blue eyes, who very much embodies the stereotypes and culture of Taldor, physically and emotionally. Beautiful and provocative, Bri spends much of her waking hours maintaining that composure. Bri is quite kind as being gentle goes farther in diplomatic relations but can also be incredibly condescending (most times unintentionally) to those that she deems beneath her status, mainly Qadirians and commoners. She has a fascination with elvish people and culture. Although snobby in general, Bri has an intense devotion to Taldan customs and tradition and will protect valiantly any who by law or honor she needs to protect. She tries not to be rude to people as that hurts her diplomatic prowess however and can be quiet kind to others when it benefits her.

Training in the art of battle and magic, Bri carries with her the family longbow and elven curve blade first given to the Basri family when negotiations where first brokered between Taldan and Kyonin.
