Rouqas is a catfolk barbarian that lives near Biston and works as a blacksmith for Selyna Duntherhall.
Rouqas was born and raised in a tribe of catfolk in the mountains southwest of Biston. Everyone worked hard to ensure that there was food to eat and shelter to live in. Rouqas discovered at an early age that he had a eye for weapons and the forge. Often he was found with the tribe blacksmith learning all he could about the forging of weapons. When he was not working the anvil he was out hunting and learning the land. When he was old enough he traveled further out and eventually began visiting Biston. He visited there often cause he was fascinated with town life. It was not like living in a tribe at all.
As he grew more familiar with the area he was approached by a local who needed a guide through the southern mountains to the coast. Rouqas had never considered being a guide before. After he finished he went back his tribe. For some reason though, he could not get the thought of Biston out of his mind. He really liked being a wilderness guide. During the next few months his visits to Biston increased. As he became more familiar with the town he eventually noticed a smithy. His interest was piqued. Wandering over, he met the owner, Selyna. Over the next 6 months he kept a friendly relationship with her and she soon offered him work there.
During a time when he was out with a caravan, his tribe was attacked by bandits that roamed the area. Normally they would have been able to repel the attackers but on this occasion the men were out on a large hunt as there was an unusually large amount of wild game in the area. When Rouqas arrived at his village he found everyone dead. Nothing was left. Overcome with anger he vowed he would avenge his tribe. In Biston, he poked around and eventually overheard some braggarts from Korvosa boasting about a village they had “defended” against. They even described his parents! He would find out more about who they were and why they were over here.
At length, when Rouqas turned 19 he moved closer to Biston in some nearby foothills (about 20 minutes to get into town). He has been working for Selyna off and on when he is not out guiding caravans and the like through the mountains. He really enjoys his current work and is looking forward to the next caravan that comes through.
