I was curious as to why Absalom is named Absalom. Is it the Biblical reference to Davids 3rd son who died in the bow of a tree that he got his neck stuck in?

Whoooopsiiiiee!

I am currently creating a Bard (who is mostly a woman of pleasure) and a half-elf. She has a camera and a canvas. With the spell of shared memory she will create an illusion of what she has seen and paint it. After that she photographs herself in front of it. Ta da! Instant hero status for a poser.

So, what is the CR rating of 4 CR 20 creatures?

For the camera, there is already an item published by Paizo that should fit the bill...

Autonomous Cartographer

That helps! ty

Personally I see the Bard as a bit more useless than the Monk. I seem to remember a Magician NPC class or was it a type of Rogue? The point is they have to be able to 'fake the funk', so the character should be able to do some things. As mentioned before, the share memory spell would do just fine and a camera.

The camera makes the story line easier seeing as how not everyone's characters can read and pictures cross language barriers as well. This way the 'posers' will be easily recognized for recruitment.

Any other ideas for useless characters?

So an Alchemist and an Illusionist of fairly low level, otherwise they could be true adventurers...and a camera.

I have an idea for campaign flavoring, but I am unsure how to proceed. The PCs will get a heads up on an upcoming mission and determine they need help. The first people that should come to mind (if I do this right) will be some 'adventurers' they have seen in pictures/calenders.
The idea is there are a couple of really fantastic looking 'posers' who follow some adventurers or go to places deemed safe by the Pathfinders and collect some pieces around the area as well as take 'pictures' of themselves at the locations to sell later in Absalom.
What I need are suggestions for 'poser' classes, as in people who can fake being an adventurer, but not really be effective at it and an item to replicate images and/or capture images onto parchment.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

Does anyone have a firm answer about the 'stacking' of Snatch Arrows and Missile Shield?

My understanding is if you use Armor as DR then you should use the optional rule for hit points as well....it does seem to be a lot to keep in mind for a game.

Very nice! Impressive, in fact!

The Advanced Races Book does say goblins live to be 60 years old. They are also nocturnal, so the way they rate age could be based on the lunar calender. They could easily consider themselves to be a minimum of 10 times the solar age (if you follow what I mean). The same could be said for Yoda...nobody really knows. He could have given his age from his planet (if his home world orbits 10 times faster than our own) or from the lunar cycle.

I see this class has a lot of restrictions. A negative four for any weapon used that is not their own? You mean other than the four they can pick for the Weapon Training a'la fighter?
I also see you have more skills and skill points and a d12 for hit points.
The skill points I can see being that they are not trained in the bevy of weapons other fighters are, but I don't know about the d12.

Me have problem reading common human.

Is there any difference for masterwork and/or magic armor when it comes to the max amount of Check penalties and/or Dex bonus?

I remember in some early campaigns that magic armor allowed you to use your full Dex bonus, so I had to ask.

Currently we are running a good and evil campaign at the same time, but in the near future I will be starting a global campaign. It starts in Absalom.

We don't have a rogue in the party so the fighter checks for traps.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I think the Aboleths showed up first, but the Dragons would probably say otherwise.

Say that to my face! or Say that one more time.

Nunzio and Guido have been regulars in my campaigns, but the fairy godfather has yet to be seen...I guess he is still in the closet.

A 70+ year old goblin lich! Now there is something different. Should I be scared or do I laugh?

93. That isn't how I understand the rules.

79. Do you really think arguing with me is going to change my mind?

Hand to hand and whatever is at hand. What you also should make is Q, so he can have concealed weapons. Maybe a wand of magic missiles, too.

Not meaning to argue, I am just asking this question due to the fact I have some friends who are deaf and for all intensive purposes mute.
I know some sign language and can read lips to a degree.
As players it is a little difficult to understand what they are saying compared to the others who can hear and speak, but it is still not all that difficult.
We don't view it as hampering, just more as broadening our horizons. In game they don't always have a deaf character, but more often than not they will go with a mute character. They normally get lip reading and/or sign at the beginning.
Some of our other players (to include myself) decided to 'hinder' our characters as well. Though it is a hindrance it is still a playable character.
Isn't it fair to at least grant sign/lip reading for languages known?

Nice ones Interzone!

I like it!

I had a GM who, once we (the party) had succeeded at a great battle or an extremely hard win, he would 'reset' the world (effectively negating what we accomplished) or have us 'correct' what we had just done.
Overall it was a good story when you look at it from the outside, but on the same note, the players were robbed.
The armies we defeated, the god we banished, the demons we thwarted, etc...*makes face for bad taste in mouth*

I once had a GM who had a story line where all the characters were barbarians from Valhalla (I know, don't ask) and they were venturing into the prime material plane.
Our first encounter was with the main baddie. Unfortunately, for all of us, one of our players decided to scout ahead and ran into him first. One thing lead to another and 'our friend' sold us out and he was allowed to travel on ahead.
When we came across the baddie we had some disagreement due to what the first person had said to him and a challenge was given and accepted.
Being honor bound barbarians we each were killed one by one by the bad guy in honorable combat.
The only survivor was the traitor.
I know this is backwards for what this thread is about, but it had the same effect on the GM as the baddie being killed from the start. He was very ticked off and we never tried that campaign again.
If the GM had been more aware of what the players beliefs were, as those characters, I think he would have started a bit different.

When me kill two group o peoples. One me stuck on sword an hit other with him still on sword! HAAAAA HAAAAA HAAAAA! fun fun.

(translation: In a campaign where 2 teams were competing with each other to get the treasure Rotuthem was guarding he laid waste to virtually everyone. The fight between him and the Monk Minotaur was epic, but the necro trying to sneak up on him was struck by a backswing from the Bluespawn godslayer. The sword went through him like a rotisserie stick. It did not slow down his attacks vs the monk. It just got real messy.)

Whatever happened to them? They were such wonderful creatures and Pathfinder didn't include them? Did I miss them or did they go 4th ed? I pray to Tiamat that is not the case, but if that is what happened then it looks like I will have to make use of that new book on races.

Rotuthem ... a Bluespawn godslayer. He had 1 level of Fighter and was able to apply 1 attribute point to his Dex which increased his AC by 1. That was all it took to shift the odds.

I only got to use him in one campaign. There were 2 teams of PCs and I played the monster. It was a blood bath! Only one PC other than mine survived (due to the rules of engagement). We were supposed to have several more campaigns, but some people moved away (like the people that created the campaign.). I miss that character.

That would be me.
