Rosa had been relieved they put the creature down but the torture that Domitian had to experience afterwards was... something else entirely.

It challenged her as a witch and an alchemist to try and brew for him anything that would ease the pain he was experiencing from the foul creatures taint that it had left upon him. She also thought inwardly that it was better him than herself or Lyra and that made her kind of hate herself a little for thinking like that.

When he finally made it through his ordeal, she was thankful and glad, she continued to make her herbal teas for him because brewing things always brought her peace of mind despite everything.

When they had gathered their things, she turned to Domitian and replied, "It's probably best if we do move quickly, we already lost quite a bit of time and who knows what those things are doing in the meantime right now." She looked off into the distance.

The following morning Rose will be fidgeting with her belongings. She still had a couple of the impossibly strong mixtures that she had brewed much like the liquid ice that she had used on the creature, but she also remembered how difficult and costly it had been to somehow miraculously brew such a potent alchemical weapon. She still had others left but wanted to desperately save them for the troll issue they knew they were hunting for currently before they came across the strange abomination.

Were there other creatures like this lurking around? And Lyra said it had been a strange magical phenomenon. What happened to prompt such a thing being birthed?

These questions nagged at her and made her bite her lip softly in thought as she poured over her research and her notes, more out of nervous habit than anything.

Rose listened to the conversation, chewing on her thumb some as she thought about the recent events that had transpired. She couldn't disagree that since the night of the blood moon things had been very very different. And the idea that it would just keep getting stranger and worse gave her a gnawing feeling in the pit of her stomach.

She reached for her staff to let her fingers play with the carvings she had made upon it, tracing the runes gently as thought about everything being said. She flinched some at Lyra's sudden animation and inspiration and when she mentioned her thoughts, her reassurances, they weren't completely foolproof, but a chance was more than nothing and that hope would have to be at least their starting point for now.

Rose would nod still shaky from the adrenaline. "I am fine, I am just trying to help Lyra keep steady after exerting herself with that foul pillar business." She smiled weakly, still nervous that the creature would still find some way to get right back up again.

She looked to the others, particularly Domitian. "Are you alright?" She asked showing concern knowing the foul thing had hit them several times.

Rose stood shaking and breathing deeply for several moments, feeling the weariness of the fight finally take toll after it had finally seemed as though the creature was finally no more.

Once she had regained herself a bit she quickly made her way over to Lyra to check on her, as her fight had to have been the most taxing of all. She took in the devastation of the pillars with wide eyes as she could only hear what happened not wanting to spare glances back until the creature was finally put down for good.

"Well that was quite eventful and I hope we don't have a repeat performance any time soon. Though..." She placed a finger to her chin. "That thing was wholly unnatural. Wonder what caused those pillars to spring up in the first place." She bit her lip as she thought about it, then looking to Lyra, but deciding on more helping her to her feet rather than picking her sister's brain for esoteric knowledge for the time being.

Female Half-Elf (Drow) Bramble Brewer/Grenadier Alchemist 5 || Bonded Witch 5 (Gestalt 5) | HP 68/68 | AC 16, T 15, FF 11 | CMD 19 | F +7, R +9, W +8 | Init +5 | See in Darkness, All-Around Vision; Perception +16

Rose was surprised at how quickly it moved, shocked at how each time it got back up it started having more features, looking more humanoid that wretched abomination, and horrifed when it spoke. It was becoming more intelligent and that was a terrifying possibility if they didn't manage to deal with it before they exhausted all their capabilities.

She moved to try and position herself better as the creature was a little further away still than she would prefer, reaching into her bags once more to gather her ingredients. She wanted to save most of her flasks for another time, so for now she decided to add an unstable accelerant to her bomb, the elixir she drank before filling her mind with images on how best to construct it, it would not splash and instead be intensely concentrated on the location hit, so she prayed it would not miss it's intended target and she had already hurled the bottled conflagration towards her foe, watching as the chemicals sloshed and combined together in a swirl of volatile beauty as the bottle sailed through the air.

Moving strategically to a position 20 ft from creature. Unstable accelerant + targeted bomb admixture + explosive bomb. 26 to hit, 31 points fire damage, creature is on fire (1d6 fire damage per rnd). Extinguishing the flames is a full-round action that requires a Reflex save (DC 18). Rolling on the ground provides the target with a +2 to the save. Dousing the target with at least 2 gallons of water automatically extinguishes the flames.

Rose was about to hit it with an attack when it decided to turn toward Lyra and leap with horrifying force. No no no! Was her immediate thought as the creature was going for her, but what happened next was almost too quick to follow.

Domitian rushed passed her with such speed to intercept and then powerfully slap the creature back down to land almost directly in front of Rose. She moved back out of caution and surprise.

Once she regained her composure again, she nodded. "Keeping at the ready would be best, those spires aren't broken quite yet." She was ready to pull the components to strike it with another bomb at the first sign that it would rise once more.

Rose frowns as she didn't feel as though her hex took hold of the creature. In fact it felt like nothing happened. She grit her teeth, muttering, "Resilient abomination..." She sighed and reached into her bags to pull out a shimmery opalescent bottle and quickly swigging the mixture. She shuddered a little bit at the bitter taste, but immediately she felt her mind sharpen and she could picture better how to focus the power of her explosives so they only affected something more potently.

She cast a look over her shoulder briefly at Lyra, hoping that her ritual was going well, but not able to steal a longer glance as the creature in front of them demanded their immediate attention. After she drank her extract, she moved only slightly closer, getting ready to throw another explosive and then tactfully retreat to a safe distance if she needed. She was already thinking of the next action as she prepared her next attack.

Targeted Bomb Admixture extract consumed (bombs do not splash, bonus int dmg doubled), moved forward 10ft to be at 20ft range.

Rose felt nervous as she used her strange shadowy wings to bring her closer to the creature and closer to Domitian and Moira. She felt chills along her arms and back, as the creature looked even stronger than before, but she was also very much determined.

Gathering her courage he decided to do one thing that she thought wouldn't draw apparent ire from the creature, she would damn the foul thing with a hex upon it. She felt her third eye open and her will stretch forth to tug at the creature's fate as she damned it and cursed it to have Misfortune.

Moving to 30 ft from creature using wing fly speed and then Hex: Misfortune upon it. (DC 18 Will Save, 1 rnd duration, Anytime the creature makes an ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check, it must roll twice and take the worse result.)

Rose turns to see the creature beginning to slowly move again and her heart drops. She did not have another one of frigid flask that managed to completely wreck it the first time. She hoped that at the very least they could keep the creature at bay until Lyra could finish the ritual she was performing. She was just nervous considering how lucky she was to finish the fight in the first place... But maybe the others that had various divine gifts could do as much if not more as her abilities had done previously.

She swallowed and breathed steadily as she got ready for whatever the creature had next to throw at them. She pulled a shimmering tincture similar to before and quaffed it, feeling the power manifest a shimmering barrier as it had done so before and got ready to loose yet more arrows at the thing.

Rose approached Lyra from behind, her shadowy wings keeping her aloft before landing softly. As her spells began to wear off one by one, she felt herself beginning to grow back to her original size, but her skin remained it's rough wooden complexion.

She breathed a sigh of relief looking over at the refuse that remained of the creature and then back to the pillars of darkness. She pulled out her own book and began to take notes of both the effects of her bomb combined with the flash-freeze flask she had managed to create on the creature itself and the dark pillars that seemed to have had a hand in creating the creature.

She frowned some, as she knew those pillars would continue to be a problem if not carefully dealt with. There was no telling what would be the next creature reanimated if they continued to stand.

Female Half-Elf (Drow) Bramble Brewer/Grenadier Alchemist 5 || Bonded Witch 5 (Gestalt 5) | HP 68/68 | AC 16, T 15, FF 11 | CMD 19 | F +7, R +9, W +8 | Init +5 | See in Darkness, All-Around Vision; Perception +16

Rose had let her all her affects take hold and she became almost like a small rough wooden sprite of spite as she narrowed her eyes at the thing that lay before her. She grit her teeth as she watched the creature crawl itself out of the sickening sack of... whatever the fel it was that it decided to birth from. She took her bow and prepped her arrow with one of her concoctions that she managed to make in their time working at the kingdom they had slowly had been building.

She pulled out one of the concoctions that held the the flask of alchemist fire and attached it to her arrow, fastening it quickly to ensure that it would remain attached to the shaft. Then she pulled out her precious unstable accelerant that she had made, and quickly added it to one of the reagents she had prepared, letting it dissolve into the mixture and carefully affixed it to the arrow and took aim towards the creature and let it go. "Hope you like heat!" She hissed as she let the arrow fly.

Round 1:
First shot, fire explosive arrow with fire alch weapon: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
arrow dmg: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
bomb dmg: 4d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2, 5, 6) + 6 = 22
alch weap dmg: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
DC 15 reflex to extinguish or fire dmg of 1d6 continues to burn

Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29

She shook her head, disappointed as the shot went wide, and she reach her hand into her bag. She gingerly took out a extremely frosted flask that steamed even from being removed from the confined space of her magic bag, which she had used a sliver of the ice formed from the cursed bow that Moira had crafted so very long ago. She carefully affixed it to her next arrow, her only flask of this essentially flash-freezing mixture, that she had managed to craft from that same sliver of potent cold. She almost wanted to lament after all she went through to create the damn thing, but it was necessary to see if it could stop this creature in its tracks.

She then also took one of her catalysts that held super chilled reagents and also decided to affix the concoction to create an explosive arrow of supreme chill as she leveled the bow at the rampaging creature. "Maybe this will cool you off." She smirks as she lets the arrow fly towards the creature to hopefully hit the damn thing.

Round 2:
Second shot, cold explosive arrow with super cold alch weapon: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
crit confirm: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
arrowdmg: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
bomb dmg: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6, 4) + 6 = 22
alch weap dmg: 6d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3, 2, 5, 4, 5) + 6 = 31

Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21

After letting loose with two potent attacks of varying elemental strength, she will nurture her gift of power they received and will her shadowy wings into being, looking abstract as if drawn attached to her, and she will take the the air quickly, moving to a position to put her just within range and she concentrates upon her inner eye to will a terrible hex upon this creature.

Round 3:
Wings, flying, keeping a range of 30ft up and away from creature and ground, casting misfortune hex DC 18 will save. If save, nothing. If fail, all ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check, it must roll twice and take the worse result.

Exact buffs posted in discord.

Rose started to pull various bottles and flasks and drink them while making quick gestures and chants. She felt that if Domitian and Moira's efforts weren't going to be strong enough to deal with the thing before it was birthed, she had better prepare herself for what may rear its ugly head.

Her skin began to take on that familiar roughened texture and she placed protective charms on herself as she downed extract after extract to fortify herself and reduce her overall size hoping that all of this would be a boon to assist in making her strikes hit while simultaneously protecting herself.

Rose turned to her sister with her eyebrows raised in visible surprise at her reaction. She knew better than to second guess her, however, considering previous experiences she had with her both growing up and even more recently on their journey to present.

She exchanged the familiar feel of her staff for the firm wood of her bow, taking note of the various items and potables that she had on hand in case of any encounters upcoming. "What would you recommend be the best way we go about destroying them?" She asked quietly, as she put a hand to her chin in thought.

Rose didn't like the idea of trading her mode of transport for one of a far lesser speed, but agreed to gently climbing down from her horse and tying it much like Mehaila did. She also looked around cautiously at her surroundings, nervously gripping her carved staff to comfort herself. "I hope it isn't ferocious beasts that have the horses nervous." She cocked her head and turned to her other companions.

Rose stood up and stretched some. "I believe I have some of our preparations already made, but please don't hesitate to let me know if we need anything further before we head out." She smiled taking her staff in hand and running her fingers over the runic carvings made within. She was pretty sure she had everything they may need to deal with the troll incursion, but extra preparations couldn't hurt.

Prior to Moira's Ice weapon incident...:

Rose was happily crafting her various concoctions and potables after Lyra and her had decided to go cash in some of the valuable gems they had managed to fish from the mine. It allowed them a few luxuries and granted her to finally be able to do what she had always wanted to do, craft. She placed all her newly acquired valuables together in her shop and managed to dig out a thick hide apron, she placed on a set of spectacles and began her careful work. She had received a request from Moira to make a couple of potions and prepared herself to concentrate her energies and time into doing so.

Her fingers appeared to dance along her various instruments as she brewed each magical liquid one after the other. many of them she was able to complete in one sitting, stopping to occasionally break and get some air, food, or rest before tackling the next batch of potion to be made and bottled. It wasn't long before she finished a dozen or so of the potables and had personally delivered them to her at her workshop, trying not to interrupt her as she was toiling away making each of their companions some of her own creations.

When she returned to her shop she found Mehaila was there and wanted to create some potions of her own magicks as well. She couldn't say no to the opportunity, but did forwarn her how long it would take to make each of them that she requested. Once that was agreed upon and settled she immediately began brewing the liquids and having Mehaila fill them with the power that each of them needed. There were a couple...complications... but she finished with all of the ones asked for and identified the ones that had failed as well. One of the failures, which was harmless, she disposed of it.

Once she had completed the immediate requests for potions, she decided that she needed to enhance her stocks of her alchemy tricks, wanting to make some oils and liquids that could be an asset in their fights. This time she would wear heavy gloves along with her apron and some goggles as she was mixing far more dangerous chemicals.

She started to make accelerants for enhancing the power of her strange bomb creations and was able to make quite a few extremely quickly. Satisfied with her results she decided to then create batches of Alchemist Fire, as who knew if they were going to need it in the future. As she was making them there was an extremely potent one she managed to create and she carefully labeled it and set it in it's own place. As she continued to create bottle after bottle of the extremely flammable liquid, there was a mishap, a fumble, and she knocked over one of the bottles and set fire to her lab, consuming two of the bottles in the process. Thankfully she managed to isolate the damage but it took her six more days to replace the parts of her lab that weren't damaged.

Not wanting to be set back by a minor accident, she finished out the batches of Alchemist Fire and switched to making Alkali Flasks. This was an acid that if used against acidic creatures, reacted stronger to their acidity. She immediately made an extremely powerful dose, and was ecstatic at the creation. This feeling was short lived as she spilled the following batch and both acids were lost, along with part of her lab again. She pouted as her poor lab was beginning to look more and more like a warzone from all the scorch marks and acid burns. It would be another six days before she would be able to replace the lost instruments from her lab once again.

Upon her return, she had renewed vigor and determination and more than a little caution. She decided to create and carefully isolate each batch further she created to do her best to limit further damage. She wasn't infallible by any means but haste makes waste was how the adage went... She set herself to continuing to make batches of Alkali once more. Once she felt she had enough of them, she gathered them. She carefully counted out the number of doses of each that she had created and decided to create an equal number of a strange liquid that permeated cold to round out her capabilities.

First creation was a huge success much like her other ones, creating a particularly powerful dose of the mixture. She followed that with a couple more, and by the time she had finished she grinned as she had an idea. She decided that she wanted to use a special funnel that she had acquired to carefully combine some of the flasks that she had created. She gently mixed the potent fire with the potent alkali to make an even more potent version of both, and gingerly contained it, as even the normal flasks wrecked havoc on her lab. She then performed the same action to mix a liquid ice with an alchemist fire, with great success. Following with mixing a liquid ice with an alkali flask, also a great success.

Once she was satisfied with all the things she made, she took a well deserved break.

She had been researching potions and alchemy and wanting to push the limits of possibility, she knew what she could make but then she made the potent fire, acid and ice, and this made the wheels in her mind spin wildly. Could she make anything stronger? She wanted to experiment and make some of the other typical alchemical items, tools and remedies to see if she could possibly improve upon them. She also had another late-born epiphany. Mehaila was able to assist her with making potions of spells she didn't have. Was there a limit to this as well? Could she make potions or even extracts of spells that weren't normally drank? What would happen? What could happen? All of these ideas had her scribbling in her books and notes and schematics and formulae, not wanting to let anything be missed in her crazed pursuit of unlocking secrets not only about her art, but perhaps about herself.

The starfall occurrance was a painful time for all of them, as their slowly growing child of a kingdom had already suffered it's first casualties in loss of man, farms, and the mine. Each of those stung in their own way, but all of them had made great strides to rise and overcome this misfortune. This was only to be followed by another threat lurking in their lands, as hunters were finding themselves being hunted in turn.

She found herself at a table with the others, discussing what they should do about this Troll threat they had found themselves with. Perhaps it was their own fault they didn't deal with them sooner. The last two years had not done her any favors, as she became isolated and socially stunted with her studies and experiments. She nervously tugged at her hair, twirling it in her finger as she quietly responded. "I-I agree, w-we probably should h-have done something about them before now..." She let go of her hair to gently grasp her weathered staff, breathing a deep breath as she looked to the others. "I-I mean, I am more than happy to help, since we have an obligation to do so, right?" She felt more determined with her staff in hand, a bit more confident.

Rose followed both of them into the crystalline shop, her eyes looking at all the ice-covered surfaces, admiring them. She jumped at the cracking sound as she turned to see the broken remains of the ice pillar and the wall behind the pillar demolished. She was quite stunned, but not nearly as stunned as she watched the human pluck the bow out, throw it into a furnace and then begin to smash it with her hammer. When the bow began to wail, it made the hair on her neck stand. Once it was silent was when she dared to come closer.

"Well, huh. Didn't think to just smash the bow..." She looked carefully at the scorched and deformed remains of the bow, before turning her gaze back up and smiling to Moira. "Happy I am that it is no longer a threat to our sapling of a kingdom." She straightened and then pulled out her journal and a pen to continue to make notes, returning to her former ideas and calculations as if nothing were wrong. "Much to do, much to be done!"

Rose looked rather apologetic, rubbing her neck, "I am sorry for the poorly timed comment." She watched in awe as the two of them got closer and she followed them as carefully as she dared. Her eyes widened as she watched Lyra flick a fiery bead into the shop, only to have it exploded within and blast the door forward from it's hinges.

She shivered some as she moved behind the other two towards the shop, scorched and charred from Lyra's assistance having kissed every surface within. She let out a gasp, only to cough from the frigid air as her eyes met with the various frozen surfaces still and the pillar with the weapon responsible held within.

"Even if this was not the desired effect, that is quite the powerful enchantment that thing bears." She said in a mixture of awe and worry.

Rose had been making various trips in among all the time she had spent with her newly set up Alchemy Lab. She was ecstatic to be able to work on her inventions again as well as make a few things that her companions had asked if should could make for them as well. She was more than happy to oblige and right now she wanted to find her sister so they could perhaps take a trip to Absolom so that she could help her find one of the potion shops there as she was thinking about expanding her research on potions that she knew and if there were any others she could learn to make.

Or at least that was the plan, before she came down to the cauldron and found panicking people fleeing and ranting about some deathly chill or some such. As she drew nearer, she kept her distance as she could already feel the temperature drop quite suddenly and a familiar figure in a deep red cloak almost disappear into the mist only to have a bang signal their return.

She pulled as close as she dared, trying to figure out what was going on while putting her own wishes aside for the time being. She listened waiting for Moira's response to Lyra's query, curious to know what she could have created that was so bloody cold.

Upon hearing Moira's response, she flushed a little. "I don't know what to say, that's quite the present." She smiled before returning to her serious countenance. "What can we do? Most of us can't even get near it." She bit her lip softly and fidgeted.

Rose watched in apt fascination as the bear attacked Moira, and then she must have blinked too long, because she didn't even immediately follow where Moira went before the bear started taking arrows. Just as quickly the bear managed to turn and start barreling towards her once more before it was executed with a shot mid-leap and landed on her.

It felt like Rose had stopped breathing for some time, as the strange sigh washed over the immediate area, she also breathed deeply, and started to follow Domitian and Mehaila in their decision to approach.

She stumbled in her steps as she thought the bear was moving, but it was the shifting and changing from bear to old man to dust that caught her off-guard. She grimaced as she watched him rapidly decay so quickly that the flesh and tissue was immediately desiccated. She found herself in awe how quickly it had happened, and then concerned at the sound of Mehaila heaving and retching nearby.

"You didn't breathe in the remains did you? Hold on, I may have something to remedy the sickness and taste..." She started to rummage through her supplies, pulling out the bottle which she took the algae sample with earlier, pausing for a moment as she did so.

Looking for a remedy within my belongings for Mehaila, any change to the algae sample from before?

Rose had watched Domitian and Moira with almost a sense of detachment as they waiting for their quarry to come and reveal itself. She almost giggled at the trap having freed itself, but the feeling was slowly replaced with dread as she saw the creature make its appearance. She frowned and turned to her sister, watching her ready a spell.

And then blinked as she walking into... nothing? What? How? It made no sense and even Lyra was perplexed and unhappy with how things were going. She moved closer to Lyra, asking "What is it? What happened?" She didn't understand what was going on but she knew Lyra had pieced something together and she began to worry what was to happen next. She reached to touch her own staff, more as a sense of comfort since Lyra's outburst was concerning in what it could mean.

She turned to the others about to be set upon by the large bear, watching their fight in awe, feeling even more detached than before.

Rose turned from her bottle of green algae she was taking notes upon to the collective number of plants that Moira brought to her. She pulled out a set of simple lenses from her bag and laid the plants on some cloth in order to better examine them. After careful scrutiny and comparing the plants against her own notes about various poisonous plants that Lyra and herself had personally cultivated when they were growing up together.

DC 30 Alchemy to identify poisonous plants.

After several moments she bit her lip softly and looked over to Lyra. Seeing her shake her head and frowning, she turned back to Moira. "I can see that you gathered these because they look like poisonous plants, but these are all mundane. I doubt even if you combine these you could even sicken what you use them on. And are you absolutely sure you wish to use poisons on this task of yours?" She pushed the lenses back up the bridge of her nose.

Rose looked up from her messing with the pool of algae and saw Delan approach and her heart almost leaped. "Delan! Good to see you!" She jumped up and moved over to him, letting her voice drop as she came closer to him for an embrace. "Is everything alright? Are you sure about joining us?" When she pulled back there was a slight look of concern in her eyes before it was once again replaced with the mirth she showed at his return.

"I most certainly won't turn you away, but those two seem engrossed in the ruins of Erastil. I wouldn't get between them if I were you." She teased and gave him a nudge before breathing a deep sigh and looking around them once more. "A lot of plants, but where are all the animals, the critters... so much green." She said, thinking out loud as she looked once more at the bottle she gathered and the extremely thick green algae within.

Rose was a little intrigued at the hot springs as it smelled strongly of sulphur, which peaked her curiosity and she spent time searching around for any reagents she could save for later use within her alchemy creations.

When it they were at the overgrown temple of Erastil and saw the water was green, she took a small sampling. "It looks like algae, which would mean that some of the fauna that was keeping it in check might have dwindled some to allow it to flourish so strongly." She looked around for any other signs of life aside from just the flourishing plant life in the water and upon the stone.

Rose thought for a moment as they readied themselves for the combat. "Do they breath some kind of weapon? Like acid or sleep?" She drew her bow, wishing that she had a little more preparation for what they were about to deal with. "How do they fair against cold?" She drew an arrow and started immediately making a concoction using her bomb reagents to create one of her notorious bomb arrows as a surprise parcel to their reptilian foes.

Rose hummed softly as they traveled after the most recent camping they had made. She swayed softly on her saddle as they rode, before she paused her humming.

"Lyra, I don't recall a reason for your distaste of spiders... How come, dear sister?" She did not absolutely adore them either, but had more of an appreciation of the eight-legged creatures. She also found the more intricate and finely-made webs to have a kind of beauty to them, with morning dew causing them to shimmer as if bejeweled.

Rose looked more and more excited at the opportunity to clash against the trolls, until Lyra had advised against an immediate confrontation. She looked a little deflated, but she had to agree with the logic of it. As dangerous as her creations were, they weren't unlimited and it wasn't a guarantee that they could even bring one down quickly while having to deal with several others.

Preparation was definitely the better aspect to valor at this current time as they would need to come up with a plan and possibly some other means to supplement their capabilities.

"Fire and acid...well we definitely have some of each, but we could use more to be sure." She said, rubbing her chin.

Rose was idly humming until she heard that Mylee was reacting to having spotted something. She also began to prepare herself, pulling a familiar bottle out of her belongings and having it ready to drink as soon as they neared the source of their tiny companion's distress.

As soon as they neared the hill where whatever was lingering there drew closer, she swallowed her mutagen to allow the effects to take hold, hardening her skin and feeling a slight numbing mentally.

Rose had joined her sister as they approached, watching the trapped creature struggle, yip and whine. She watched Lyra moving around the pit and pick up something before the sound of a yelp drew their attentions. Moira was trying to end the creature's misery, but unfortunately her first strike had not scored true to cleanly kill and she saw Lyra move as if she were going to unleash a verbal lashing upon their human companion. When Lyra almost immediately relented, it caused Rose to bite her lip.

She knew how much Lyra loved and cared about nature. Rose herself had an admiration for the verdant herself, but knew the path she walked diverged ever so slightly, and it was cause of that they were so different despite being twins. Twins... She thought almost bitterly, they looked almost like night and day when the average eye glanced over them.

She shook her head of the thought, standing beside her Lyra, as she performed rites for the animal and using the power of the staff, buried it once more. Her hands touched the runes of her own staff, as she whispered a small prayer of her own and looked around them into the darkness for any that might be watching them cautiously.

Rose sat on her steed, shivering with anticipation as the other two vanished from sight, waiting with Domitian and Lyra until some form of a signal had been made. She hated to wait, but she also knew that if she was careless, she would hate having to replenish her supplies all the more.

As she waited, and grew antsy, she listed to the soft sounds apart from the yipping from ahead. The sound had somewhat of a familiar quality to it, but she couldn't quite place it. She leaned over a bit to quietly mention to Lyra, "What kind of animal or many of them, do you think is making that noise?" She rubbed her chin in thought as she tried to pick through her memory and their upbringing, if she could place the sound.

As Rose spoke with her twin and examined the berries in question from the Silverthorn tree, she agreed that they would definitely be plausible for making a rather remarkable type of ink. She gently took them into her care and when first chance allowed itself to be presented, she brought out her travelling lab and began setting to work to make as substantial an ink as she could from the berries.

She concentrated and expelled some of her special power reserves in order to push the likelihood that should would succeed at her task. And it indeed did bear fruit, so to speak. Not only had she achieved the result of a fine ink, it was a rather special ink and when she told her twin about it, she was giddy with excitement.

"I might have gone a little overboard, but I think you're going to absolutely love what I managed to brew up for us!" She said quietly as she could, her pitch slightly raised due to her child-like glee that she was experiencing. "Tell me, tell me what you think of it?" She said as she gently handed her the bottle with the newly created ink shimmering inside. She already had an idea of what she had made, but it comforted her to have her sister also provide an opinion, whether it be an affirmation or correction.

After they began their journey and hear the odd noises ahead of them.

When they slowed their horses at the sound of the yipping and howling, she watched the two that were best at going unnoticed quietly slip down from their mounts and into the brush. She waited back with Lyra, reaching into her back and feeling for the familiar bottle that housed her mutagenic compound, ready to down it quickly if needed.

Rose thought for a moment as she pondered Mehalia's question. "Well if it had properties of poisonous plants in either the fruit it bears or it's leaves. There is some kind of caustic attribute it managed to pick up that I noticed from it's most recent feeding..." She made a motion as if to push up spectacles, which with the obvious absence of them made for quite an unusual gesture. "I would have to try various small samples from it to be able to confirm my hypothesis for sure."

She helped with moving the bones as well, knowing more hands makes less work. Or that would be ordinarily true had the work not involve massively dense bones that felt like they were made of rock.

"I'm all for exploring the rest of this wilderness, just look at what we came across in only a fraction of the area we have covered so far!" She smiled, eyes gleaming at the possibilities of what else may wait ahead of them as they journeyed.

At Lyra's invitation, she needed no further provocation to climb into the heated water and let her stress and worries wash away.

When it came to hauling the "meat" that they managed to peel from the giant boars bones to their precious tree. She felt a minor pang of concern after seeing what the creature did to earth and vegetation, but her worries were stifled as their tree consumed the flesh eagerly. She did pause when she saw that the roots had taken some form of change smelling acrid and hissing as they made contact with various surfaces.

She looked back at the bones of both of their most recent kills and let out a soft whistle. "It's a sizable amount of material, but without proper tools and knowledge, it could go to waste." She bit her lip in thought as she pondered what they could do with it all. Reagents or tools came to mind, but she still wondered about the properties of the strange veins that spread and permeated the bones of the boar.

Rose watched her sister begin to dig into the beast with her knife, then sighing in irritation to find herself a bigger knife. And find one she did, as Rose lifted her eyebrows when Lyra came back with a curved sword to hack away at the carcass of the beast.

When given the glands, her eyes widen as she carefully dug through her alchemy gear to find a suitable container to preserve the volatile glands that were removed from the boar. It took her several moments to safely store the glands, clean her hands of gore leftover on the glands, and begin to furiously record the details about them into her formula book and potential applications as well.

Rose pondered for a few moments. "It would be nice to be able to take all the bones, but they are quite big and heavy... Where could we even put them?"

She turned to look at the enormous carcass that had be slain, partially butchered and a tusk yanked free from it. There was a shiver she felt that wasn't entirely to blame on the severe storm. What could have happened to make a creature into such a beast. It was huge, trampled entire trees and sullied the earth, it had strange red veins that laced it's bones and probably permeated through them.

All these thoughts nagged and tugged at her mind, and with all they had experienced over the last couple weeks that more creatures like this boar may appear. Not exactly the same, but just as terrible.

Rose came closer to see what Domitian was referring to whilst he continued to look at the massive tusk that he wrenched free of the beast body.

She squinted and cocked her head, shaking it after a few moments of scrutinizing the tusk. "Can't say that I have any ideas about what that could be, then again the creature itself is rather unusual and unnatural. Would surprise me that there's more to it than first glance."

Rose had crouched against the tree, hoping that it would hold against the giant boar's attacks to try and gore her. Fortunately it held just long enough for her two enormous companions to close in on it and strike it with heavy blows.

She couldn't see much from hiding behind the tree as she heard the tree creak and groan from being hit from the swine, and then the wet sounds of swords biting into flesh and the gurgling of the creature in death throes.

She crept carefully from behind the tree, still under the effects of her mutagen as she looked up at Moira quickly trying to rip large trophies from the corpse before the enlargement magic ran it's full duration. She then turned at the sound of Mehaila's voice and shook her head. "Thankfully I managed to escape unharmed for the most part." She looked back at the tree she had been behind and winced at the large gouges that had be made by the boar's attempts to get through it to her.

Rose blinked her eyes in surprise, watching as Moira and Domitian swelled in size from Lyra's magic. She smirked and quietly moved closer to where the beast was trampling the earth and felled trees immediately around it.

"I shall do what I do best." She quietly murmured. She then glares at the creature, a strange feeling from the tattoo on her forehead as she invokes her hex power upon the over-sized swine to make it more vulnerable. Feeling her power, she quickly acts to begin weaving a spell, hand on her touching her staff as she softly calls to her Patron of the Shadows. "Oh chilling dark, filled with woe, sap the energy from my foe. Make them weary, unable to stand, bring exhaustion by my outstretched hand." She chants and stretches her hand forth to project a black ray of energy toward the massive creature. She then called up a surge of her bestowed power to quickly pull and drink a murky mixture, feeling her already hardened skin become strengthened and tougher than before.

Rose turned back to the others, a bit nervous and unsure as she wasn't fond of the memory of what happened last time there was a severe lightning storm around them. She bit her lip in thought.

"If we want to still make Moira and Domitian bigger, I can help with that..." She instinctively reached for her staff, as reassurance for herself and emphasis for her words.

"If you mean to wield the storm's energies again, be my guest dear sister. I just hope you know what you are doing." She shook her head, but nonetheless would not stop her or tell her otherwise. Lyra had always been gifted, her latest fey incarnation another example of such. She rubbed her dendrite-infused neck with her hardened palm, still not quite used to the feeling of her own strange magics. She smiled, "Course that means if you think we have a chance..." The hesitation from her voice dropped and became more determined, firmer than her enhanced flesh, as she smiled.

She trusted her, she trusted them, they would see this through, through storm and dangerous wilds.

Rose stiffened at the sounds that were being heard aside from the terrible storm that raged around them. She didn't think it wise to go potentially picking fights with the weather as such, but she could not argue the negatives to having the upper-hand in an engagement if they should need to come to blows.

She grimaced as she once again pulled out her usual murky substance and carefully quaffed it, feeling the familiar tingling of her skin becoming rougher and her movements more graceful. It always felt like her senses dulled slightly whenever she imbibed the mixture, but there was always risks when it came to experimentation and discovery.

She carefully made her way over into the brush as the others had, but she also took her time and was slower to follow as she wanted to check her available extracts that she had prepared as she moved.

Rose emphatically discussed the plans that she and Lyra had come up with a while ago, looking earnestly excited that their ideas for founding a city are slowly coming to fruition bit by bit.

The change of the weather put somewhat of a damper onto her spirits, but she would grin and bear it. It was just rain after all. However the other sounds that reverberated aside from the gentle sounds of thunder gave her slight pause.

She nodded at Mehaila's comment, preparing herself for what lay ahead for them in the pouring rain.

Rose smirked back at her sister, refusing to take the obvious bait. She however did listen in earnest to her sister recount a tale that she wasn't even aware of. She took her staff in hand and gently rubbed her fingertips over the groves that made the runic carvings upon the staff.

She had originally made the carvings because the shapes they made were pleasing to both her eyes and touch, but now she wondered if something more ancestral was hidden away in the strange carvings she had etched upon the sturdy wood. Especially when hearing about the ancient elves from her sister.

She made her way over to comfort Lyra near the end of her story and feeling the emotion that she fought to keep in check. "As well we should, it's not everyday a tree changes its breed and eats meat. We would be insane not to want to learn more from it, and the little we do know barely scratches the surface." She chuckled softly, patting her sister's back.

Rose perks up to the exchange between Moira and Mehaila, but she nonetheless has an opinion to offer as well as she moves closer to them.

"A hunter assumes the risk that hunting poses. They are just as likely to lose their own life to what they hunt as successfully hunt it if they don't take care or inexperienced. As the caretakers of this creature we have given life to, it is our duty to educate those capable of understanding to respect and keep their distance from our charge, less they find themselves in great peril."

She raises an eyebrow as she doesn't quite understand if there is further need to argue or if the point could be made that they need not declaw or defang their creation so long as they warn others properly so as to avoid unfortunate accidents.

Rose was still dealing with her scorched, burning pig. She watched as the fat continued to burn for some time.

She turned slowly when she heard other sounds than the crackling flames on the pig near her. She watched as the other pig carcasses were claimed by their strange tree they had helped grow. The music and discoloration gave her pause and she eyes twitched as she mulled over in her mind what she knew about the natural world.

53 K. Nature rolled on Discord with Display of Intelligence as well

She watched the tree interact with her sister and looked back to the still burning carcass in front of her. She poured some of the ashen liquid she gathered to douse the remaining flames on the pig carcass. She then flexed her still wooden appearing arms and slowly dragged the body of her pig kill over towards the tree, deciding to donate the carcass rather than let it rot and waste further.

"As it's parents of a sort, we should care for it. It seems to take some time for the tree to burn through the calories it just consumed. Eating like a snake where if it has a large quantity of meat, that satiates it for some time." She grunted as she tugging her offering closer to the tree, before pushing it forward with a mighty shove.

58 Craft Alchemy with Display of Intelligence and Mythic Surge

As she got closer, she took a more analytical look at the tree and she looked as giddy as a young child in a sweets shoppe. "The berries, the leaves, the bark... so much of it is a series of endless possibilities for using the material that it produces. It's far too young, and quite dangerous to attempt that kind of cultivation. In time there may be many discoveries that can be made from it that none have even thought to attempt creation of..."

She giggled a bit and wiped a sleeve across her mouth as she realized that she had been actually drooling some as she rambled about what she had come to understand about the true from her own studies.

Rose managed to avoid being deafened and blinded by her sister's flashy finale to the wild hog encounter. She walked around, still very much looking like an over-sized effigy, though the spells she consumed and called upon ran through the fullness of their duration in short time, her dendrite mixture would linger for quite a while yet.

It was just something that she became accustomed to, especially as perfecting the mixture further would only prolong its effects more and more. She was pulled out of her introspection for a moment when Domitian showed concerned for Moira, but at a casual glance she appeared to be unharmed. She was heading to help with the carcasses and saw the one she immolated thoroughly. She winced at the burnt, unpleasant smell, reaching to grab her arrow, and watch it crumple in her grasp. She worked at breaking down the husk into mostly ash and using a solution of her own making a form of liquid enrichment for soil and plants.

Rose needed no further urging after Lyra shifted back and spoke. She pulled an arrow and prepared one of her volatile explosives to attach to it. She took steady aim and lined up for a central swine of the pack that was still fleeing. She loosed the arrow and watched it sail quietly with its package.

As soon as the arrow struck the hide of the one she had chosen, there was a squeal of pain followed by the explosive detonation as the creature was swallowed up in fire. The flames rained onto the others, leaving the slower ones to feel their own hides scorch as the fires licked at them.

She winced as the one that she hit almost appeared to char from the intensity of the explosion, and knew that the arrow she had used was beyond recovery.

Rose carefully picked her way through the brush, quiet as she can be, carefully pulling one bottle of her strange liquids that she carried on her, quaffing it, and then feeling her hardened flesh become thicker and more gnarled like aged bark. She then calling upon the power gifted by the phoenix that seemed so long ago, she did the same with another, albeit different colored, potable in her possession. She felt the energy form before her, not unlike a disk that hovered in front of her.

Swallowing the last of the second potion, she began to quietly chant to herself, almost only mouthing the words, knowing that her patron could hear her beckon of his power as she gently touched her staff that was fastened to her back. "Deepest shadows, darker than black, cloak me with you, and protect my back. Drape upon me, a mantle unseen, coat me in its, protective sheen." Once she felt the pull of the magic settle upon her, she smiled, and then crept forward once more. She could feel her eyes peer through the darkness and shades like they were nothing. There was a time she cursed the cat-like eyes, but now they came in handy when the situation presented itself time and time again.

She strained her hearing for her allies, hoping that they were being careful and that they didn't hit each other when attempting to down their quarry, either alone or collectively.

Rose was enjoying the conversation until the racket coming for the west interrupted them. Seeing the look that Lyra gave them, as well as Shirak disappearing as well, she reached into her belongings and pulled bottle. She pulled the cork from it, downing the thick, syrupy substance quickly. As she reached for her bow, the concoction had already begun to work, her skin growing roughened and harder. She peered into the darkness, carefully stepping into the brush as well, casting a glance back at the others. "We would be remiss if we didn't at least try to savor the hunt as well right?" She chuckled quietly before disappearing as well.

Rose watched the multi-colored ribbons of light swirl and wrap themselves around them, but staying far enough to not touch them. She frowned and reached out to grab one of the ribbons, determined to understand the magical ribbons, and actually touched one.

It was as if that was all the invitation the glowing tendrils needed. Just as she had reached for one, that same one seemed to leap towards her and contact was made for the briefest of moments. Time seemed to slow down for her as she felt the thrum of magic connect with her palm as the ribbon brushed gently against her.

It wasn't unpleasant, for an instant, until time seemed to re-establish itself and the shock leaped up her arm and raced along her body as a both alien and pleasant feeling threatened to overwhelm her.

It lasted for only a moment and she looked around in a mixture of confusion and understanding of what exactly she just had happen to her. She felt she understood the magical ribbons of power, could feel the influence of a strong powerful entity of magic. She could see the magic as easily as she could see color and art, even as the magic began to wane.

What she couldn't see was that her unusual tattoo of a third eye on her forehead was glowing a soft blue as she observed the magic that she had embraced slowly begin to wane from her sight.
