Background:
Ustalav natives, the Belmer Family history can be traced all the way back to the Shining Crusade - when their oldest ancestor, a footman named Karl Belmer, decided to devote his life to the eradication of the undead (which ultimately resulted in suicide, when he became inflicted with ghoul fever). Since then, the firstborn of each generation of Belmer's has been trained vigorously in the art of stalking, trapping, and slaying these wily foes.

Robert was no exception to this tradition, though his own career got off with much less luster then his ancestors did - he likely would have never made enough coin to scrape together the necessary equipment, if it weren't for the benefaction of Professor Lorrimor, whom he met while investigating a rash of "ghoul" attacks on livestock in southern Ustalav (it was, rather quickly, discovered that the actual culprit were a group of goblins who'd snuck inside the farmer's fences).

Both Robert's skill with a hammer and his investigatory knack caught the Professor's attention, and Robert served the professor as research assistant, guide, and bodyguard almost a dozen times in the decade since then. News of the professor's death reached Robert while he was hunting down a necromancer in neighboring Lastwall, and he is currently hurrying home to attend the funeral.

Personal Beliefs/Ethics:

What follows is a short list of things Robert holds near and dear to his heart - beliefs he'll cleave to, things he'll almost never do/will almost always do even if it isn't the most efficient course of action, etc.

Ever Vigilant: Part of what makes the undead so dangerous is the fact that they are nearly human - were, nearly human. Intelligent undead could be hiding anywhere, and those who'd animate unintelligent undead could be as well; Robert is constantly on watch for both of these, and never rules out anyone whom he doesn't personally know.

The Only Good Ghoul...: is a dead ghoul. Robert will never flee combat with the undead, unless there's absolutely no chance of victory.

Sanctity of the Dead: As a devout Pharasman, Robert is opposed to making mockery of the fallen, and will never condone acts of graverobbery or corpse-violation.

Loyalty Above All: Despite being a generally untrusting individual, Robert is steadfastly loyal to those whom he does call friend or ally - and is willing to go to great lengths to assist them, even at personal cost.
