BACKGROUND
Spoiler:
Originally part of a small, nomadic band of hunters in the Shadowfell, Rivan was the only one who survived when the hunters were ambushed by a lich, who siphoned off the souls of his kin. Although badly wounded in the struggle, Rivan fled till exhaustion caused him to black out.
When he woke, he found himself before The Raven Queen, his thirst and wounds long gone. She gave him a choice: Serve now and die later, or die now. Wanting revenge for his fallen kin, Rivan chose the former and became a Winter Knight in the service to the Queen of the Dead. She then promised to provide him with the information to avenge his fallen kin, provided he grant her his undying and unswerving loyalty till death and beyond. Revenge would come in time, but first he had tasks to complete for his Queen... PERSONALITY
Spoiler:
Rivan is a grim and laconic Paladin of the Raven Queen. A loner who values silence, he tends to observe from the background, speaking only when necessary so that he can better scrutinize those he meets.
His loyalties are something of a mixed bag, and while he does value the friendship of those he trusts, he tends to not get too attached to anyone in particular. To him death is just as natural as breathing and not necessarily a thing to lament. In fact, death is something of a reward for faithful service to the Raven Queen; something he hopes to achieve one day...but until then he has much work to do before his goddess calls him to her... APPEARENCE
Spoiler:
Armed with an evil-looking scythe, clad in his ornately crafted, holy armor granted to him by the Raven Queen, and engulfed by his long dark cloak with it's shredded ends, Amael strikes an imposing presence on and off the field of battle. He moves with precision and grace, uncharacteristic of those garbed in the heaviest of armors, and seems to fade in and out of the shadows that seem to follow where ever he goes. In combat he strikes swiftly, appearing suddenly out of nowhere and fading just as quickly, only to emerge from the shadows in a new location.
Amael is well built and lean, with piercing obsidian eyes that miss nothing, long white hair, and a mysterious nature about him. His bare flesh is riddled with scars of various shapes and sizes, with the most prominent being the scar across his neck; a personal blessing from the Raven Queen herself. In the center of his forehead is a tattoo of the sign of the Raven Queen, a gesture of his never ending obedience to her teachings. |
