Rindilnir nods, relieved to be out in the cold air again.

"Point the way, my friend." says Rindilnir as he draws his swords, ready to trailblaze through the river o' rats if necessary.

Rindilnir gives a grand bow as Milgith leads them into the hall, as he bows a single drop sweat falls from his nose. He rises and exits the home half-walking/half-fleeing, avoiding eye contact, his lip bleeding from nervous chewing.

"Perhaps we could lure the fithy creatures into one of these live-in torches then let Ferguth have his way with 'em."

He thinks back to the blessed arbors of his homeland, his fingers absentmindedly tracing the scars on his face.

"Rats!"

Rindilnir also nods in agreement.

As Varn steers the wagon to the mayor's abode, Rindilnir gives his blades a few passes with his whetstone.

If we do have to drink an ocean, I intend to drink deeply.

"Alot more wine!" says Rindilnir bewildered.

"What on Rassilon, is going on?"

Rindilnir defers to to his comrades with healing expertise.

Rindilnir nods as if to say, yeah what he said.

"Maybe rats have eaten the orc's food supply as well."

Rolls:

Common Knowledge: =1
Wild: =4

Survival: =7
Wild: =3

After observing the note, Rindilnir says "Looks like if we don't get this wagon to Dunross soon, "they" will be the ones eating horses... and probably rats as well."

Rindilnir draws his swords and looks around for orc assailants.

Once the wagon comes to a halt he jumps down to inspect the arrow riddled mound.

"Hear, hear!" Rindilnir exclaims, his soul stirred by the skalds reverent words.

”There is definitely something strange going on here Varn. The hair on the swords seems to suggest an animal but if it wasn't the rats that attacked the these people then where are the tracks? As for the gear, I could see the rats eating anything that had gore frozen to it but then there should be some remnants left behind.”

Rindilnir finishes his porridge, stands and stretches. ”Well we better be off. Thanks for the breakfast. Not bad... for human fare.”

“Well lets get a fire going downstairs it looks like it's going to be a long cold night. I don't know what the funeral customs are for these people but maybe we could collect their swords and wrap them in this cloth to give to the good people of Dalsetter. As for the bodies, the ground is likely too frozen to dig a decent grave, we could use their wagon as a pyre if we can find a nice open spot away from the trees to set it alight.”

Serin Skald wrote:
As the group heads up the stairs, Serin begins to spin, half seriously and half in jest, a lurid tale about rat kings, and how they long to gather elven hair to weave their tails more tightly together....

"Remind me to tell you the old elven tale about the bard who sang wolf."

Rindilnir heads outside to retrieve his own pack from the wagon then brings it inside and places it next to Serin's pack. Hearing about the rat tracks and frozen blood drops, a puzzled look washes across Rindilnir's face ”Just rat tracks, no orcs or other predatory creatures? Seems odd don't you think.”

Rindilnir draws his swords and heads up the stairs with Varn and the others. “I hope there is something up there that can make sense of all this.” Rindilnir says, still troubled.

Rindilnir checks to see if he can recall anything about the insignia, then moves to examine the scratch marks in the wagon near the flour, trying to determine the creature's species.

Rolls:

Insignia
Common Knowledge: = -1
Wild Die: = 9

Scratch marks
Knowledge Nature: = 3
Wild Die: = 1

The bard's bawdy song catches Rindilnir by suprise, the elf erupts in laughter and falls out of the wagon rolling in the snow.
When he catches his breath "You first, Serin!" is all he can say before the laughter takes him again.

Curiosity gets the better of Rindilnir as it becomes evident that there is nothing for his blades render into tiny pieces. He moves over to the abandoned wagon. Just what was under that tarp anyway? Using his twin blades as tongs, Rindilnir deftly pulls the tarp aside to reveal what is underneath.

Taking his cue fron Serin, Rindilnir moves to flank the tower opening with blades at the ready. Once in position he gives a quick nod to Serin.

Rindilnir nods in recognition as Varn points out the lack of horses, then dismounts the wagon and draws his twin swords, staying close to but out of Varn's way as Varn searchs the area for clues.

"If there are any hostiles about, they are in for a rude awakening." says Rindilnir arrogantly as he twirls his blades with a grin spread across his scared face.

Notice check = 1
wild die = -1

"I agree with leaving them for carrion but lets at least drag their bodies over into the bushes so the animals can eat in peace and future travelers won't be unnerved by humaniod remains on the side of the road."

Rindilnir makes a quick show of scaning the surrounding area and then as he climbs abord the wagon, he say's "Don't worry Serin. No signs of wolves yet. It be awile till there scent is strong enough to draw them close and we'll be long gone."

Rindilnir's face contorts into a mask of horror as the burning orc meets his end but quickly regains his composure, bowing and even chuckling a bit in response to friend Serin's wit.

As Varn goes to soothe the horses, Rindilnir cleans the blood from his blades before picking out a bow and a quiver of arrows from the fallen attackers.

Rindilnir draws his second sword and unleashes a furious cyclone of steel.

Round #4 actions:

Rindilnir uses his bladedancer edge against all orcs.
running roll = (1d6=6) Total pace = 12

Attack orc next to Rindilnir move to P-15 continue moving to M-12 (attacking the orc next to Varn while in O-14) attack orc next to Ferguth continue moving to G-12.

MAP = -2 (-2 draw sword, -2 bladedancer, +2 joker)

Round #4 attacks
attack 1 = 31
attack 2 = 1
attack 3 = 7

Ok due to the danger of using this attack (all targets not shaken or killed by my attacks get an attack of their own as I leave combat/adjacent). I got scared of attack 2 results and spent a bennie to re-roll all. bad move! :(

Round #4 attack 1 Fighting die (1d10.open(10).each(-2)=4)

Round #4 attack 1 Wild die (1d6.open(6).each(-2)=3)

Round #4 attack 2 fighting die (1d10.open(10).each(-2)=5)

Round #4 attack 2 wild die (1d6.open(6).each(-2)=0)

Round #4 attack 3 Fighting die (1d10.open(10).each(-2)=4)

Round #4 attack 3 wild die (1d6.open(6).each(-2)=0)

This would trigger 3 attacks against me so I spent another bennie (Ahab, you bloodthirsty whale slayer, you!) and now out of bennies ended up with this.

round #4 attack 1 fighting die (1d10.open(10).each(-2)=3)

round #4 attack 1 wild die (1d6.open(6).each(-2)=11)

round #4 attack 2 fighting die (1d10.open(10).each(-2)=3)

round #4 attack 2 wild die 1d6.open(6).each(-2)=1)

round #4 attack 3 fighting die (1d10.open(10).each(-2)=7)

round #4 attack 3 wild die (1d6.open(6).each(-2)=8)

Damage =
round #4 attack 1 damage die (2d8.open(8)+2=10)
whoops a possible raise on attack 1 extra damage die (1d6=5)

round #4 attack 3 damage die (2d8.open(8)+2=16)

I think I downed 2 orcs but the orc next to Varn gets a free swing on Rindilnir as he leaves adjacent.

Rindilnir finds it difficult to focus on his foe with flaming orcs running about.

Round 3 Actions:
Rindilnir's parry was reduced to 4 due to the wild attack so Orc #3 should have hit. :(
If the orc's damage gets a shaken or worse here is a
Spirt Check:roll for posible shaken result (1d6.open(6)=4, 1d6.open(6)=1)

Round 3 Actions:
Draw second weapon and attack nearest orc twice!!
MAP = Main hand -2, Off hand -4

Round #3 attacks main hand (1d10.open(10).each(-2)=5, 1d6.open(6).each(-2)=1)
Round #3 attack off hand (1d10.open(10).each(-4)=-1, 1d6.open(6).each(-4)=1)

"Ahhh! Not the horses!!!" cries Rindilnir, with a pained look on his face. "Filthy savages". Rindilnir curses under his breath.

Round 1 actions:
Rindilnir draws a single sword, then runs to the orc at Q-19 and slashes wildly.
MAP = -6 (run-2, draw -2 & attack-2)

Run die 1d6 ⇒ 4 total pace = 10 Move to P-18
Wild Attack: -6 map, +2 joker +2 wild attack = -2 to fighting and +4 damage (joker/wild) parry = 4 until next action

Fighting Dice: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
Wild Die: 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3

Spend Bennie to re-roll
Fighting Dice: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (10) - 2 = 8 + 1d10 ⇒ 6 = 14
Wild Die: 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1

Damage (hit w/ raise I think) = 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 8) + 4 = 15 + 1d6 ⇒ 5 = orc-kabob

Rindilnir cries out "Ambush!!! Orcs in the bushes to the right!" as he grabs the reins to bring the wagon to a halt.

Actions:
If a riding check is required.
Riding Check: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
Wild Die: 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4 + 1d6 ⇒ 1 = 5

If a Riding check is not required to halt the wagon, Rindilnir would like to draw his weapons also (assuming that halting the wagon is still and action I would have to make an agility roll at a -2 for MAP to draw both weapons).
Agility Check: 1d8 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4
Wild Die: 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4

Either way... Dismount at the end of my turn to G-12
(a move action I assume, I could find no info in books or on fourms for dismount)

Dice Rolls::
Notice Check:1d4 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2 + 1d4 ⇒ 4 + 1d4 ⇒ 2 = 8
Wild die:1d6 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1

Fighters in the front, mages in the back?

For some reason, I can't help but see Varn at the reins.

“Oh... yes... the bag, I'll see to it at once!” Rindilnir says, eying the door, happy for a reason to leave.

Freedom!!!

“I'll leave the rest of the details of vegetables and linens in your capable hands.”

Rindilnir stands and gives a quick but somehow still graceful bow, then turns and makes a bee line for the exit.

Bless you, Serin. You've pulled my arse from the fire again!

They better not tell me we're staying the night here. o.O

As soon as we arrived, that’s when I saw it , the Four Sheaves, it's sign flapping in the crisp air and above that, it's roof... It's thatched roof... Easy, Rindilnir... It's ok.... thatched roofs are perfectly safe... they are... right?..

Serin and I enter the inn with the two humans we met the night before, down by the market square. We are all directed to a table and the older human, Varn i think his name is... as if reading my mind sits in the corner... leaving Serin and I with the best seats... the ones closest to the door... ok... this isn't too bad... if something terrible happens, gods forbid... something terrible like.. oh... I don't know... the whole place going up in flames... Serin and I ought to be able to make it out unscathed... not like last time...

Ok... just hold it together... just relax... everything’s fine... stop frowning so much, I don't think the others have noticed yet... they seem to be making light conversation... although Varn has looked over this way a couple times... just don't look at the roof... make eye contact with the humans... that’s it... don't look up... maybe I'll have a drink to take my mind off things... .... .... ok that’s not helping... where the hell is this guy!!!

Finally he arrives... after making me wait in this saxa death trap for half an hour... a whole half!!! an hour... at least he gets down to business... this Rodgar, he tosses a map onto the table... then he asks if we'll take the job...

Keep it together... Varn looks over this way again... Ferguth, is saying something as he points at the map... is it getting warmer in here?... Serin is saying something now, he looks at me approvingly.... is that smoke?...

“We'll do it!!!” Rindilnir bursts out suddenly. “We'll take the job, how soon can we leave.!!!”

"Then tonight I shall have a drink for free while you sing my victory!" says Rindilnir with a smirk.

Dice Rolls:
Use Wild attack +2 to fighting and damage, -2 to parry until next turn.
Attack Orc #1 with main hand.
Fighting:1d10 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Wild1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
If hit 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 8) + 2 = 13

Attack Orc #3 with off-hand.
Fighting:1d10 ⇒ 4
Wild1d6 ⇒ 1
If hit 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (7, 8) + 2 = 17
damage die aced 1d8 ⇒ 3

Spend a bennie to reroll, Attack Orc #3 with off-hand.
Fighting:1d10 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Wild1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
