Rhous Vel Belizea was born with the silver spoon.
Youngest scion of the Vel Belizea, one of the obscenely rich families of Oppara, wealth inherited form centuries past when Taldor was still a world power. The Vel Belizea had ships full of spices sailing from port to port, and enriching the family.
Rhous Academy, as most young Vel Belizea did when they came of age, was sent to one of the best Arcane Academies in all Taldor – the Crown Circle. His obscene wealth easily covered the costly fee of the school, and Rhous, although smug and a bit lazy, learned the basics of the arcane art.
Unfortunately Archelaos, Rhous’s oldest brother, invested a big chunk of the family’s fortune in an expedition to hunt the terrible Kraken! Three solid war galleons, a small army of the toughest mercenaries of the Inner Sea armed with state of the art cannons, and several of the Family most powerful magic items all disappeared at sea during the hunt – no one quite knows if because of a storm, pirates, or the beast itself.
In an attempt to regain some of the wealth, Rhous’s father, the Vel Belizea patriarch, gave in mar-riage his daughter Olympias a (Rhous’s sister) to a wealthy merchant – somebody of lower birth but loaded with riches, in an attempt to unify their trade and become economically relevant once again. Unfortunately the merchant revealed himself for a con man when, the very night of the wedding, bedded Olympias and then disappeared with both her dowry and what remained of the family for-tune.
Unable to keep paying the Crown Circle fee, Rhous got the the Oppara docks and got a job on a ship – his family living in a now treasure-empty manor they could barely afford. Rhous vowed to catch his sister’s treacherous husband, to find news of his brother and to bring back his family to her former fortune. Using his magical abilities he became a valuable member of the Razor Coast sailing workforce, both as lookout and a sailing master thanks to his ability to fly and control winds.
Goals:
Catching Rascaro Malvez, the conman who tricked his sister, is a personal matter for him. He’d love to have closure on the fate of his brother Archelaos – to know if he’s lost at sea, if he found the kraken and got killed by the beast, or else. And he has promised his father he will restore the family fortune. Right know though he’s enjoying the life on the high seas, and has little wish of coming back to a landlocked life of luxury.
Personality:
Rhous is well-learned and sarcastic, and a bit of a smart-mouth. His high education shows in the way he talks. He’s also a big show-off especially when it comes to his air mastery, and enjoys being the lookout on the ship he currently works in, levitating high above the mast tied with a rope.
Appearance:
Rhous is tall and thin, with tanned skin and dark hair. His clothes are of good quality, and well kept, both the practical sailor’s outfit and the formal clothing he uses on land. He usually wears jewelry – bone, wood and bronze when on the sea, silver and small gems when dressed formally. He usually keeps with him his small travelling spellbook and leaves the main tome safely hidden in his cabin.
