Background
Ren's father was a half-elven ranger, living in the woods far away from the center of the valley when he met Ren's mother - human woman from a small village. They instantly fell in love, but it wasn't destined to last. She died giving birth to a boy and a girl. Midwife declared girl stillborn, but the boy gave a loud cry before she could say anything about him, so she gave him to his grieving father and quietly left the cottage with the silent little bundle that was Ren's sister.
The boy grow up to be spitting image of his father, although his hearing and sight were not equal to his old man's. Father trained him to use the long bow and pair of kukris, to climb and survive in the forest, always moving and hunting through the woods, never returning to that village. One day they met an old friend of Ren's father - a tired old Dwarf who wanted nothing more then to escape the world of priesthood politics and to set up a little forge. Ren's father helped him to build a cottage and then accepted his invitation to join him in that little clearing in the forest. Years went by and Ren learned from Uncle Berol - that was the name of the old Dwarf - how to forge blades and armor and from his father how to tan leather and make bows and arrows. He learned to read and speak different languages. And then, one night the raiders came. There where both men and Dwarfs. Ren's father fought side by side with Berol, but he died defending his friend, for it was obvious that Dwarf was the target of that attack. Ren tried to help his father, but he received a sword blow to the head for his troubles. The raiders left him for dead. When came to his senses, his father's corpse was cold and Berol nowhere in sight. Ren moved his father to the cottage, and then burned it to the ground, taking some things before that. When the ashes got cold, he started to follow the tracks left by the murderers.
