Remidax Gotubo grew up as most Mwangi tribesmen. He spent his youth collecting firewood and hunting small game. His father and mother held mediocre status within the tribe and Remi's life was foretold to have the same mediocre status. Even when he bested the more important family's sons, he was never given credit for his prowess, compared to the other families.
In his early adolescence, Remidax accompanied his father to the coast to collect clams, crabs and driftwood. It was there, that he met his first pirate. He was immediately impressed with the swagger with which the man carried himself and at that point decided that was the life for him.
Throughout his early teenage years, while the other youths played at mock battles and hunting trips, Remi played at swashbuckling and a sailor's life. Constantly chastised by his mother and father for having such dreams, Remi learned to keep his dreams to himself.
Finally, at the young age of sixteen, Remidax stole away in the night and travelled to the coast, making his way to Oyster Cay, where he joined up on the first ship that would have him. Signing on as cabin boy, Remi learn to love the smell of sea air and the roll of the wave beneath his feet.
Being a fast study, Remidax soon showed promise as a sailor, laring the jargon, rope work, and myriad other skills that makes a sailor and pirate. The next few years, Remi spent as full time sailor, never taking much shore leave, but joining up on the next ship that was pulling out of port.
As his last ship put into port, Remi found himself in the notorious dockside tavern known as the Formidably Maid looking for work. That is where he ran afoul of a press gang from the pirate ship Wormwood...
