Backstory: As a relatively young elf, Raphael wanted to see the world. So when a strange mermaid showed up and prepared to travel, Raphael used this opportunity to propose a strange partnership. He would sail around the Inner sea using whatever boats or floating devices they could find as well as maintaining Ouliette's all-important Land-delver's chair. In return, Ouliette would defend him from all the nasty stuff that tries to kill them, letting him enjoy an adventure in relative safety.
And so began an unlikely partnership...
