Background, appearance, personality and role:
Background: Randgríðr was born to an Ulfen father and a half-elven Taldan mother in the small town of Heldren, Taldor. Her father a woodcutter and her mother the baker’s daughter, Randgríðr’s life has been decidedly perochial. For a half-elven woman her age in a village this size it would be unheard of to be unmarried—unheard of were it not for her unique traits. Randgríðr’s father is a massive man who often tells stories that his father told him about the far north, stories of battling giants and stories of how giant’s blood may have entered their veins. Her mother is tall for a Taldan, a side effect of elven blood, and loves to tell the stories passed down to her about her elven lineage. A child of two worlds, Randgríðr has always been fascinated by the outside world. To her, though, she has found nothing more important than protecting her home.
Being as blessed as she is physically and a devout follower of Erastil, Randgríðr joined the militia as soon as she was old enough. Her parents were not surprised at all by the decision, and her father gifted her his father’s shield upon making the decision. Heldren does not see much out of the ordinary, and that is why after 16 years of militia service many from the outside would call Randgríðr a novice. She knows that her training could be better, that she could go out and use her talents to gain treasure and fame, but her family is more important than anything. The only way she could be convinced to leave this village is by a force that would endanger its people.
Appearance: At 6’4” Randgríðr towers over most of the citizens of Heldren. One of the only people she has ever met who stands taller is her father, though in his aged state he has slumped to be of even height. To a human Randgríðr would look to be in her early twenties, her long near-white hair back in a traditional Ulfen braid. As one who loves nature and one who is proud of her elven heritage she loves to let her mother weave flowers into her hair when she has the spare time.
Personality: Being raised among humans but physically being very different from them has left Randgríðr still developing her sense of self at 32 years of age. Randgríðr doesn’t have the greatest common sense, and in matters of reading and charm she’s about average. She practices all four of the languages she knows often with her parents and they have something of a quadra-lingual code among them. Elven birth rates being as they are, Randgríðr is an only child and therefore feels a strong obligation towards her parents.
Matters of love and friendship are hardest for Randgríðr. No man has ever expressed a genuine interest in her and the few young women who have end up married not long after. She has trouble maintaining friendships long-term as her overbearing protectiveness happens to annoy most of the village folk.
Role: Randgríðr exists to be a wall between her enemies and any ranged members of the group. Might consider grabbing a polearm with reach and combat reflexes pretty early on depending on the group composition.
