Randal was born in Sandpoint to Leah Raygren, a poor single mother who did her best to keep him out of trouble for as long as she could. By the time he was 7, he was wandering the streets singing and juggling for coins and sneaking into taverns to perform as often as he could.
As he grew, he began to wonder about his father, and who he might be. Randal loved to see people entertained, and one evening after slipping into the Rusty Dragon, he saw a man telling stories of high adventure and wondrous beasts. The man held the attention of every person in the bar and the ladies stopped breathing when his eyes passed over them.
Randal could not find the courage to speak to the man, but asked a waitress who told him the man was cupshot, and to pay no mind.
Sir Cupshot
From that point forward, Randal called himself 'Cupshot' during his street performances. This seemed to delight his crowds, and by the time he was old enough to realize what it meant, he was too fond of the name to let it go.
As he grew, and street performing failed to remain lucrative, he looked for ways to earn money, and the call of adventure was too great. Easily shifting his skill with juggling into mastery of a longbow, he began to seek out danger (profitable danger).
