The half-orc's story:

Dorvena Sequana was a young, brash sorceress with a lot of potential, and a thirst for adventure.

So she decided, at the tender age of sixteen, to join a group of adventuring souls intent on exploring Urgir in the Hold of Belkzen, to uncover some dwarven historical treasures for the Pathfinder Society, which loosely financed the expedition.

Almost a year passed in Urgir, before the "pinkskins" ran afoul of the Orc warchief Burtak Gol, vassal of the feared Grask Uldeth of the Empty Hand, the ruler of Urgir. Burtak Gol wiped the band of adventurers, only sparing Dorvena so he could take pleasure from her.

Nine months later, half-orc twins - one male and one female - were born from Dorvena.

The young woman, severely traumatized by her ordeal, survived the following years by virtue of the love she allowed herself to feel for her two children, Inka and Ragne'kan (Flower and Whimper), as they were named by the tribe. She was kept secluded in the manse of Burtak Gol, amid the corridors of Urgir, and slowly acquired status as one of the concubines of the warchief, using her sorcerous powers to make herself indispensable to him.

Inka and Ragne'kan lived a strange existence, torn amid the brutality of their orcish brethren and the love of their mother. Their father ignored them for the most part, except when the fancy took him to do some martial sparring with his children ; luckily, they managed to avoid being permanently crippled by these occasional outbursts of fatherly " affection".

The twins had a deep bond between them, which time only reinforced. They were able to communicate with each other with only their thoughts, and they reacted as one during the numerous brutal showdowns and harrowing battles of their orcish life, which helped them survive. It felt as if they were one love, with their mother the only other source of kindness in an ocean of brutality.

In combat, they were inseparable, the boy using his shield and axe to block their opponents' frontal assault, thus covering for his sister, while she ravaged her enemy, darting her long-reaching deadly barbed lance from behind his brother's back.

When they were sixteen, her father became definitely interested in Inka, in a most unwholesome fashion. Dorvena Sequana decided it was time to escape, like she had planned for a long time. She hoped her warrior twins were now up to the task.

Alas, one of the other concubines discovered Dorvena's preparation for the long trek beyond Urgir's walls, and warned Burtak Gol. The warchief had Dorvena put to the chains, and he almost killed Ragne'kan when the young half-orc tried to protect his mother, wounding his son with his scimitar within an inch of his life, before discarding him on a pile of refuse and absconding to his chamber with Inka.

Alone on top of the refuse, Ragne'kan managed to drink a potion for curing wounds that he had acquired for his family's planned escape from the Hold of Belkzen. Rousing from his bed of manure, he went directly to his father's chamber, where a ghastly vision awaited him.

Defending herself from his father's twisted carnal appetite, Inka had managed to put out one of his eyes during the struggle. Enraged by the pain, the Orc had retaliated by running her through with his scimitar.

Ragne'kan leapt upon his father, and the two struggled mightily. Finally, the half-orc succeeded in putting Burtak Gol's remaining eye out. Then, while his father howled with pain and terror, Ragne'kan hacked at him with his own scimitar. When Burtak Gol's cries stopped, the once mighty orc warchief had been reduced to bloody pulp.

Ragne'kan took his still-living sister in his trembling arms. As her life slipped away from him, their two spirits merged like never before. She was calm, almost serene, while he shuddered with sorrow. She had one last request for him.
"Brother, I would like to see the world outside the Hold. Mother and you must take me from this place."

Then she died, and Ragne'kan felt a part of him going with her to the nether realms. And conversely, it seemed a part of her remained with him in the world of the living.

Ragne'kan managed to free her mother, and together they escaped from the Hold of Belkzen. They arrived in Lastwall, where his mother and him fought agains the Orcs' menace. But Ragne'kan - who now had chosen the name Ragn'Khan - never felt at ease in this nation of men, and besides he wanted to show his dead sister as much of the world as he could.

So he bade goodbye to his beloved mother, and he went away in search of sights and adventures wondrous. He finally arrived in Magnimar, where he stayed long enough to participate in the mock fights at the Serpent's Run.

After some time, he heard about a Society whose very purpose seemed to discover as much as possible of the World. It didn't take him long to enlist in the Pathfinders' rank.
