The Moments Between Life and Death...: Kit still felt the shock and pounding in his chest as he found himself sitting in the black room. No, it's not a room... where, am I? As he asked himself the question, the strikingly beautiful woman appeared, and everything became far too clear. He remembered it all: rushing to work in the hot Carolina sun... picking up his dry cleaning... the 18 wheeler coming into his lane... the abandoned car on the side of the highway... the last kiss he'd shared with his wife. A tear escaped his eye, and a slow gasp escaped his mouth. "I'd remember her? Then, to this other world I will go. Perhaps in my loss I can prevent such horror and pain for another. And, a great power, you say? What better way can I prevent loss than with the power to heal. Grant me the grace that I may mend other wounds in times of need. That is all I ask, so long as I can remember her." mechanically, I am thinking Channel Energy as a Cleric of my level, if that is acceptable?
I noted earlier that Joe has multiple ranks in skills while Frank does not. @GM Wolf, care to clarify? With everyone encouraging me to "play what I want" I did a little research last night and I think I found the ideal class for me, the Zealot (from Path of War, I noticed Frank is a Warlord, so I figured that was acceptable). It definitely fits my leader/director/manager background. I should have my character finished after work tonight. Also, I amended my character's name from Todd (my middle name) to Kit (a nickname derived from my first name), Todd just sounded too strange.
Okay, I hope this all makes sense. Str - 14: At 6’2” and 230 lbs, with a lifetime of physical activities (competitive sports, outdoors activities, and weight training), I would say I am substantially stronger than the average person, yet by no means a muscle bound giant. Dex - 14: Though I lack the agility I had in younger years while still participating in gymnastics, I am still rather flexible (especially for my size). I have quick reflexes, a steady hand for precise work (knife work in the kitchen, painting/tool use/stitching, untangling my wife's many necklaces), and a solid aim with both the bow and firearms. Con - 12: I work long hours on my feet, am happy to endure a day’s hard labor outside, and am currently training for a 5 mile race. I am also able to push through and keep functioning/working while ill (a comical story is still told by friends of the time I played both offense and defense throughout a high school football game in the afternoon, then was hospitalized for pneumonia that evening). Int - 14: I graduated salutatorian of my class in high school, had developed a great deal of skill in a variety of topics, and can quickly and efficiently learn a new skill as necessary. My work requires a decent amount of abstract thought and problem solving, as well as financial management and planning, and I have been successful in all such regards. Wis - 13: While by no means a great philosopher, I am frequently consulted for advice and counsel by friends, family, and colleagues (advice that tends to be beneficial). I am also rather observant, both to physical details and emotional cues, with a strong ability to read people. Cha – 16 (14+2): Whether it be my time on stage, on a field, in front of a classroom, my work in counseling, or my capacity as a manager, I have always been able to influence emotions and inspire others toward a common goal. Luck - 14: My life has been filled with a lot of strange situations and crazy stories, yet somehow I have always come out the other side smiling. Even the accident which happened last month (in real life), I walked away from the highway speed collision without need of medical attention. Then, when looking at cars to replace mine, I ended up getting a great deal after a 2:00am price drop on a used Camry in the morning before I was planning to buy something else. ---- As for class, at first I was thinking Cavalier or Bard, to play on my leadership abilities, but then I noticed we were supremely lacking in healing, and given that we are being called by a divine source to take on this new heroic life, thought an Oracle could be appropriate. It also plays into the fact that I enjoy my current profession, I miss working in education and mental health, helping young people reach their potential. I am still trying to concept out a unique power or item. If I understand correctly from the others' characters, with my mid 30's age, do I get 2 levels of expert? |
