About Ra Loi, The Candle Maker

Back Story: Ra Loi is from a noble Elven family that made its name by supplying mercenary leadership to some of the greatest conflicts within the Inner Sea. Ra Loi’s time of service came during the Chelish Civil War in 4610. For thirty years he fought against the diabolists of the House of Thrune. His service was stellar, yet ended in defeat. This loss was devastating for Ra Loi who felt he had sullied his family’s reputation. It left him bitter and seething against all things Thrune.

He volunteered with the Eagle Knights looking for any opportunity to avenge the loss that plagued his honor. He served in a special division of Eagle Knight Marines that prided themselves on being able to fight from any platform or environment. His squad was named the “Mighty 667”. Their motto was, “It only takes one to stop evil.” It was during this time that Ra Loi became known as the “candle maker” for his practice of using tanglefoot bags (or bombs) to glue enemies to the floor and then his explosives to light them. The practice earned him quite a reputation on both sides of the Andoran boarder.

In time, Ra Loi was called on by his commanders to use his unique abilities on other fronts outside of Cheliax. He served as a Pathfinder at their behest, yet always waiting for the opportunity to return to Cheliax and initiate open war. Ra Loi is now Favored of the Ten and serves as the Commanding Officer for the Eagle Knight Marine special training facility located on the Ile de la Paratete (The Isle of the Candlemaker) off the coast of Thuvia, at the mouth of the Uta river. (A good Knowledge (Geography) check will reveal the significance of that location.)

Appearance: Ra Loi is a tall winged elf with a lean muscular frame. He has grey hair and blue eyes. His fingers are stained from years of working with chemical powers and he has trouble hearing as a by-product of his close work with bombs. He wears black armor with a black eagle embossed across the chest. On his right arm, he wears the insignia of the 667. This consists of a distorted and upside down coat of arms from the House of Thrune with the words, “Damn them again!” On his left arm, he wears the emblem of The Everbloom. Ra Loi is armed with an Elven curve blade on his side and with a composite holy longbow on his back. He has various vials and containers across his belt and bandoliers.
