Mainly curious about the page number references…

I'm getting ready to run a (premade) solo adventure for a friend of mine. It lists a CR 2 Encounter as being worth 600xp.

Now, if I'm reading the rules correctly, a party of 1-3 PC's gets 200 xp from a 600 xp Encounter.

So should he get 200 xp if he defeats this Encounter, or should he get the full 600?...

Any ideas on the best way to start this character? All I can think of are Amateur Gunslinger and Exotic Weap Prof (but I'd have to pick one at first) with the Crossbow Combat style.

Or taking 1 level of Gunslinger (which I'd prefer not to do.)

I saw Trophy Hunter but you lose the Bond.

Any other ideas?

I ask because our group is converting to Pathfinder at 4th level in our current campaign. The module says it is for 4th level characters; should I assume it's for 4 of them?...
