Male Human Fighter 3

Not sure what order we are going in. I'll put up my action and you can put it in whenever it would occur.

Quentin sprints up to the side of the rail, with his rapier at the ready, striking at the first Kua-toa who would come into range.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 101d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Male Human Fighter 3

I'm still around too if things really are going to get going again.

Male Human Fighter 3

If things are going to start back up here, then I can be around as well.

Male Human Fighter 3

Bah, sorry, I put up the post with my perception check and I was thinking the initiative was in there too. Init (1d20+3=15)

And I know that Sanura is temporarily out of commission on a couple other threads she posts on. You might need to roll initiative for her until her RL settles down.

Male Human Fighter 3

Perception 5, hm? Well, we will just see about that. If anyone could miss it, its probably me.

1d20=6

Quentin's head perks up from the part he is focused on at the cry. Setting it aside he dashes towards the side of the ship, drawing his rapier as he goes, ready for battle.

You know, I really did come closer to failing that then I feel comfortable with.

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin frowns, feeling like he should be able to work with such things even though the skill clearly eludes him for the moment. He pays careful attention to what the insectoid tells him however, trying to make sure he doesn't error again.

Male Human Fighter 3

Not quite craft siege engines, but close. A weapon is a weapon, right?

Craft Untrained (1d20+2=3)

Quentin is clearly ready to make a good impression.

Male Human Fighter 3

I know you are swarmed at the moment, so no worries on rushing stuff, Lyn. Is there anything I should be rolling?

Male Human Fighter 3

How is this for extrapolation? According to the wiki article on caravels, they are normally 20-30 meters long. Trying to find some that are similar in length to that in the maritime museum(since I don't see any of those facts for caravels themselves), I would probably put it in the area of 70-90 feet in height. Which unfortunately would mean that even the deck directly below you isn't within 60ft, assuming you go with that info.

Quentin nods his head to the thri kreen and follows after him, ready to help with any of the repairs or inspections he wishes. As he goes he keeps an eye out for anything else that may be off on the ship as well, hoping to show off his sailing knowledge to the crew.

Male Human Fighter 3

Quick smiles and nods to Gracie then turns to look at the one he was assigned to. He can't help but blink a bit at the insect-like creature before him, but he keeps his surprised covered as best as possible and maintains a friendly look. "Greetings friend, Quentin Silverhome at your service, though you may call me 'Quick'." With that said he starts to reach out to shake a hand and then pauses awkwardly, not sure which one to try and shake. "Um, what shall my first task be?"

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin smiles warmly at the woman and nods his head. "I shall do all I can to have your expectations exceeded."

He can't help but chuckle a bit and shake his head when Fin speaks. The man is the complete opposite of him in many ways with his greedy nature, but Quick still finds it very difficult not to enjoy his company.

"Yes, Fin could sell someone a bucket of air and keep the bucket, and likely would given an opportunity. But when the ray struck while we were in that dinghy I think he certainly proved himself to us. For being a lubber, the man is certainly capable of pulling his weight."

"I would almost say that Nimm is as skilled a sailor as I... Nearly." He flashes a grin at the other sailor. "And I suspect that he will make a talented officer one day when he is not saddled with so motely a crew."

"In truth I know little of the power the power these three wield" He motions to the spell casters for a moment. "It is outside my training, but I have seen it in action and can vouch for their effectiveness. I believe that Adrick's god walks with him and he has certainly already saved several of our lives. I am sure that Sanura was shorting her own rations of the life boat to ensure her wolf ate well, I also suspect she would do the same for any of us. Her heart is as potent as she is mighty. And I have seen several tricks from the hobgoblin and gillman I cannot explain. We may have ended up in a bad spot, but Kauul always gave wise council and both of them have demonstrated an arcane might which has allowed us to back up our plans."

He finally glances towards Garan, now that they have a true ship under their feet again and a good meal in their bellies it is much easier to give the dwarf a good natured ribbing again as even in their short time together he has seen how easily the fighter gets riled.

"And lastly, but far from least, Garan has proved a powerful addition to our crew. Be it the strength of his arms, his steady resolve, or his willingness to give of his own safety for the others, he has proved a great help to us all. Don't let his his heritage fool you either, the man does know his way around a boat as well and I've yet to see him get sea sick."

Seeming to just realize how much he has rambled in his bragging of the team, Quick looks somewhat sheepish and nods to each of the rest of the group before smiling some to Gracie."You've found yourself a good addition to your crew, Captain."

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin pushes up to his feet and gives Gracie a partial bow and a smile. "As I said before, my name is Quentin Silverhome, though you may call me Quick. My primary skill lies in my blade, though I certainly know my way around a ship. I'm comfortable whether it is simple sailing, climbing the mast, or in the water."

Male Human Fighter 3

Nodding around to the others, Quentin glances over towards where Gracie had departed. "So it is settled then? We make ourselves useful, stay out of trouble, and see just what opportunities this vessel may bring us?"

He chuckles a bit towards Nimm. "I suspect that a nice bath would be quite a good idea, yes. Working for an idol of mine, can't afford to go looking too scruffy, hm?"

Male Human Fighter 3

Quick looks to the others."What I said to her when we first came on was true, tales of her deeds are one of the reasons I chose to take to the seas, and it seems thus far that she would live up to their principle. I would stay on and learn what I can from her, and certainly where her sails lead her there will be adventure and profit." He gives a bit of a glance to Fin when he says that part. "But when I spoke of us being a crew I meant that as well, and I do not abandon my allies. If you chose to seek your fortunes elsewhere, I will join you. In any case, it sounds as if we are meant to sail together for some time more."

Male Human Fighter 3

"The vessel we were aboard was the Abigail, Captain."

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin nods a bit at Arioch's words. "Thats the overall, anyway. I think that where things went wrong was that the boatswain launched an attack against us for trying to ask the preferred way to clean the navigator's quarters. One of the lad's responded with a harmless prank, not a good idea and likely deserving of punishment, but the officers were ready to torture and potentially kill the offender. Bosun was a bully and they had a drow who was quite a sadist it seems. We stood as a unit and refused to hand one of our mates to death. When the Captain arrived on deck, he elected for banishment. Seems that we've decided to form up as a crew, even once we get to shore. If you are looking for some new crew, I suspect you won't find many who are more loyal, and we each seem to have our own unique talents."

Male Human Fighter 3

Once everyone else has finished boarding, Quentin climbs aboard and gives Gracie a bow and a smile. "My name is Quentin Silverhome, though you may call me Quick. Is there any way we can be of assistance before the meal is prepared? I of course understand if you wish to keep us under watch as you haven't heard our story yet."

Male Human Fighter 3

Unsure whether its wanted, Quentin looks from Arioch to Gracie. "We managed to, um, 'catch' a giant ray not too long ago. Still have most of the meat. Are you well on supplies, or would you like to have a bit extra meat?"

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin smiles to Gracie and nods some. "Yes, it would have been in my youth. I saw your departure, and truth be told it was some of the tales of your travels that encouraged me to make my way at sea rather then stay a lubber."

Chuckling a bit himself, Quentin shakes his head, glancing at Fin. "I'm afraid our friend here has quite a way of massaging the truth to his liking, but he is quick with his tongue and has proven to be quite capable on our journey. I am sure that all of us would appreciate a true meal and we can tell you of our trials since we have been lumped together."

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin waits to let the others climb up the ladder first, waiting to help balance the boat until they are up and then following after. He shakes his head a bit. "No offense, of course. It has been many years since last we met, but I hail from Mertan's Cove as well. Though I can't say I have been home too recently."

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin chuckles a bit to himself and then pushes up to his feet in the boat, waving up to the approaching ship. "Ahoy, up there! We certainly could use a lift." He gives a bit of a bow towards the boat. "Well met, Gracie. It has been some time."

Male Human Fighter 3

"Be on your guard, friends. Just because they are not the navy does not mean that they will be friendly. Perhaps they will take us on as crew, but they do have us at a disadvantage and will certainly try and make use of that."

Male Human Fighter 3

Aid Another (1d20=7)

Thats my die roll for an aid another check. Wasn't sure what skill it was, if it was survival, I got a 12. Profession(sailor), I got a 13, so either way I aided.

Quentin slips out of the boat into the water to help Arioch fasten bits of the ray. He paddles comfortably in the water as he helps the gillman work.

Swim (1d20+9=19)

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin tips his hat appreciatively towards Adrick. "Truly your goddess does bless us, even if Gozreh may occasionally..." He glances towards the body of the ray. "Show his disfavor."

Looks like that heal check should cover my save DC. Much obliged.

Male Human Fighter 3

Looks like Adrick has a pretty good heal check. He should be able to make a heal roll if he is tending us and we can still make our fort saves, and if either one of those passes the poison DC we should be good. So assuming we don't roll bad on both sides that will help a lot. Healing up won't be too hard after. We can sleep off the con damage over a few days, or with lesser restoration just being second level, Adrick could probably fix us up when he preps spells.

Male Human Fighter 3

24/30 hp right now, but my normal max is 36hp. I just have the 3 con damage. If one of you with heal could help me with that second check against the poison I would appreciate it though. More worried about the con loss then the hit points.

Quentin gives the ray one more solid jab with his rapier just to be sure and then looks to the others. "I suspect that the boat needs the most urgent attention if you talented fellows still have any remaining power to help repair it. My leg is burning pretty bad though where it stung me, though, so once you are sure we aren't going to be sinking, I could probably use a bit of looking after myself."

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin looks to the damaged boat with concern, but not having much better to do he strikes again out at the ray when it comes to view.

Attack and damage (1d20+8=21, 1d6+2=6)

Male Human Fighter 3

No sense in changing a good thing, Quentin jabs at the ray when it becomes visible again with his rapier, however it doesn't seem that its quite such a good thing this time.

Attack Roll and damage (1d20+8=10, 1d6+2=8)

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin curses as the barb pierces his leg after his rapier jabbed through it. He feels the rush of the poison inside him, but is determined to bring this thing down.

Failed the save.
Fort Save (1d20+5=11). Con Damage (1d4=3)

Ouch, dropped my con modifier by two, thats really going to leave a dent, especially on later checks. Hopefully Adrick is trained and can make heal checks for us.

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin braces for the creature to come into sight again, readying to stab out at it once again with his rapier, focusing to make the blow true.

Attack and Damage (1d20+8=28, 1d6+2=7)
Crit hit backing and damage (1d20+8=22, 1d6+2=7)

Wow, rolled well that time. Assuming I managed to make the attack, the second roll is my critical confirmation. So if I just hit, its 7 damage, if 22 backs the crit, then I did 14.

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin draws his rapier, readying a strike should the manta ray show itself again, whether that is its tail or its body. Because he is using a piercing weapon he isn't too afraid of striking down into the water.

Attack and damage, this is without any penalties due to striking in the water if that is where I see it.
Attack roll (1d20+8=17, 1d6+2=4)

Male Human Fighter 3

Initiative (1d20+3=19)

Startling from the daze that comes from just staring at the open water for days at a time, Quick tries his best to balance the boat when it shudders. When the tail jabs over the side and into the warlock he starts but is ready for action quickly. "Bloody hell! You alright, Fin!?"

Male Human Fighter 3

Aid another on the profession sailor, and I almost did as well as arioch. I'm glad we have some capable sailors about. Prof:Sailor (1d20+6=22)

Male Human Fighter 3

Yes, I believe there are enough of us that we can take turns resting, at the oars, and at watch as well. We expect to be out here at least a few days so we aren't going to try and just push through it.

Male Human Fighter 3

"There are more then just frogs to the west, friends. We could be set upon by Kuo-toa, and we would gain nothing in a fight with them and could certainly loose much."

Eager to get away from this place, Quentin takes his turn at rowing and manages to keep up the pace for seven hours before he is finally too exhausted to continue. Con (1d20+2=11)
Con check 2 (1d20+2=12)
Con Check 3 (1d20+2=15)
Con check 4 (1d20+2=8)

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin considers Nimm's statements for a moment. "I can't say that I'm right with taking the lot of anyone who doesn't well deserve it. Robbing a cruel aristocrat or poking a hole in a mercenary supply line is one thing, but deterring merchants from taking the harvest of the local peasants so they go without, just because we have made the shore more unsafe? That I would voice against."

He looks at the boat they are in and shrugs a bit. "In any case, we are simply a floating target at the moment. I can't imagine any vessel being too ready to submit to us in this, and certainly any pirates we meet are far more likely to scuttle us then to welcome us in their crew."

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin frowns, looking around at the others. "I don't think we have too many options here, friends. To the North, we will hit some cliffs with no good place to moor. The west would be our quickest route, but those are dangerous waters and we aren't in good condition to try and fight off an foes. Our vessel would be overtaken by pirates quickly. We may want to stick with our original plan and try to get east. The storm set us back some, but we should still be able to make it. Lets get back to chance!"

He points to the east, ready to take his turn at the oars when Khuul starts to wear out.

Male Human Fighter 3

Knowledge:Geography, Survival (1d20+5=20, 1d20+5=17) Trying to use my knowledge of geography compared to where I suspect(with survival) that we were blown to. Is there someplace that is likely closer to us now then where we were originally headed?

With the storm over, Quentin paddles around, helping everyone else back into the boat before hoisting up himself. He raises tall and peers around, curious if there might be any land off in the distance, and trying to use the sun to judge just where they should be headed.

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin works to steady the boat from outside, he's still managing to paddle like a fish in the water, clearly at home in it.Swim Check (1d20+7=20)

So he moves around the outside to help hold onto Kauul and make sure he doesn't slip under. Now that he's spent a bit of time in the water, he manages to fight back the feeling of nausea from the rocking boat, keeping himself in check. Fort Save (1d20+3=21)

I managed to aid on the Sailor check, but I'd recommend we all just help one of the ones who has the skill and isn't sickened. That -2 on everything just sucks a lot. I'm glad I managed to shake it off now, so I'll be able to help more with the next set of rolls.

Sailor Check (1d20+4=10)

Nimm Qa'dim wrote:
Profession Sailor: 1d20+7=18

I think with Nimm making the check, there are enough of us helping him now that we've got the DC. Would have really had it if Arioch had made that roll, but he listed it as aiding another.

Male Human Fighter 3

Everything ok, Lyn? Haven't heard from you since wedsday, just wanted to make sure things are alright.

Male Human Fighter 3

Hearing Adrick call for help, Quentin moves quickly over to him, paddling skillfully through the stormy water. He works to help keep the man afloat, helping him get to the boat again and hold on. "No worries friend, just keep a tight grip and we'll be alright."

Swim check 1d20+7=26

Male Human Fighter 3

Quentin grabs onto the side of the boat to keep near it, but watches in case anyone else seems to need help, ready to swim out after them. "Just hold on tight, everyone. The storm could go for a bit, but with it this strong it shouldn't take too long before it blows itself out and drops down to something more managable. We're all going to be tired, but make sure we know if you are starting to lose your grip, that way someone can be there to make sure you get ahold again."

Male Human Fighter 3

Bah, I just rolled the save and got all happy because I tied the 18, and then I realized I was already sickened and I didn't factor that into my first save. So I'm out of the boat. But at least he's not nauseated. Fort save 1d20+3=21 Don't know if I could have been helping steady the boat before I got tossed overboard, but with me being sickened, its probably better if someone else does the sailor check and I just aid on it. If I can aid another, I did. Profession:Sailor 1d20+4=19

Quentin tries to help everyone else as the boat begins to get hit harder and harder by the storm. Eventually a wave crashes against him too solidly though, dumping him from the boat and out into the sea.

Once in the water quentin takes to sea as a natural sailor though and moves to help anyone who seems to be struggling to stay afloat. Swim 1d20+7=27

Male Human Fighter 3

I didn't even notice that might of efreet feature, Nimm. Awesome, thats a bit help.

Male Human Fighter 3

True to his name, Quick grabs the rope attached to the dwarf since the gillman seems to have Kauul under control. He pulls tight at it, but it seems that even with help from others in the boat he isn't going to manage to reel him in yet.

Damn, missed the strength by 8 and the sailor by 6. Don't think the rest could aid another that into working, though luckily I didn't cause us to tip. The scary thing, is with the dwarf in the water, I might have the best chance at this. Three of us are tied for strength and out of those, I have the best sailor. Still rough checks to make though, especially when the dice don't like me.

Strength 1d20+2=12, Sailor 1d20+6=19

Male Human Fighter 3

I forgot to add the +2 to the reflex save, but I made it anyway. I was going to ask if we could pull profession sailor instead of fort saves, since we would be used to the roll of the water, but I failed either way on that. Quentin is not proving himself to be overly impressive thus far. Invisible Castle doesn't like me very much.

Reflex 1d20+4=19
Fortitude 1d20=5=11

Keeping his feet wide and trying to maintain the boat to the best of his abilities Quentin struggles to help balance things. He's just yelling for everyone to hold on as its only getting worse when a splash of the water catches him square in the face his his mouth open, causing him to noticeably blanch as he fights to keep from retching.

Male Human Fighter 3

When the boat starts to rock, Quentin moves to the middle, spreading his feet wide and trying to use his weight to help stabilize the boat and keep it steady.

Wasn't sure if that would be acrobatics or prof:sailor, but I have the same bonus on both so the roll is the same either way.

1d20+6=25

Male Human Fighter 3

I think where we stand right now for rowing is this:
Kauul - 5 Hours
Nimm - 5 Hours
Quick - 6 Hours
Garan - 4 Hours

I figure the storm is going to have hit at some point before we get that far, and the dwarf may be able to row farther if Lyn lets the bears endurance effect him so he didn't fail the first roll, but that should mean you'd have 15 hours before your turn came up again Kauul.

Male Human Fighter 3

I think the dwarf rowed next, and if your spell was in effect for his con check, then he would have passed it. The question would be for Lyn though, since bears endurance would only last a few minutes and he was rowing for 5 hours, whether that would let him pass or not.
