About Qin'eStatblock:
Qin'e (Pronounced "keen-oh")
Background:
Qin'e (full name Iwamizu Halpaeril Qin'e; often called Hal or Wami by others who cannot accurately pronounced Qin'e) was supposed to be a Wizard. Her Father having the magnificence he had, he felt that she'd be perfect as one, and tried teaching her all his tricks, and made her read all his books. However, something inside of her wasn't clicking as much as he anticipated. The fierce and raging blood of her Mother, a Barbarian skilled in the martial arts, burned within her, instilling a desire to showcase her martial talent as well. Her Mother advocated that while magic was nice and all, ultimately, the power that could be expended on a daily basis was limited, and in the end, brute force could be the perfect support to such a limited art form. So it came to pass that her Mother sought to teach her how to wield a blade. Starting with Daggers, and moving to Shortswords, Qin'e took far more familiarity to this, much to her Father's chagrin. After several weeks, her Father disowned her, fearing she was incapable of mastering the use of magic, and thus forcing her to fend for herself. While her Mother tried to reverse the decision, ultimately, Qin'e was chased out of her house, and resorted to living and travel to forget about the situation. It was during this time that she discovered ancient relics located in ruins near Cassomir, and through studying them, she learned a lot of secrets related to text. She continued to study these interests, attempting to perfect the teachings of her parents. However, she only got so far, and an encounter with a roving group of slave traders forced her to lose everything she had. After months of abuse, she found herself standing bare and bound before potential customers, leading to one of them actually buying her for a price that was equivalent to three years wages at an above average paycheck. His request however was simple. He wanted all her gear too. The slavers obliged and handed her over, equipment and all. This encounter ultimately proved to be of her benefit. Her buyer was an aging Wizard, but one who was nice enough where he immediately granted her freedom, for in his older age, he wanted to make sure she inherited what he got, or if not all of it, at least a part of it. Including land and personal goods, the value was worth several years worth wages. Free, and guaranteed fortune and a good living down the road, she swore herself to his service nonetheless, as a student. He accepted in full, and taught her his ways. Upon discovering her martial skill and her magical knowledge, he asked her a question. Would she be willing to learn and invest in an extremely rare and secretive art? It was an important question that she eventually agreed to. Seeking his knowledge of a rare art, he taught her in the ways of blending her magic with her skill in blades, honing the potential in both avenues into one powerful culmination. As part of the training in this secret art, he taught her the ability to wield scrolls she carried as sword and shield, utilizing a style she was comfortable with; that which was focused on the Shortswords her Mother managed to get her to use (as she was disowned before the two handed weapons came into play). This style at first proved awkward to her, but honing the method under a firm and kind tutor allowed her to reach a level of skill that would ensure she could blend both arts that her parents wanted her to embody. After she finished his training, she returned to her parents with her new skills, to find that they passed on while she was gone. Bitter with sadness and anger at many things involving this fact, she turned to living out her life, seeking the adventure she initially did when first disowned. Looking to honor her master's teachings, she practices daily, often in private. Occasionally, she visits him, and views him as her new father figure, while having friendly duels with him nonetheless. Her story is still just beginning, and has many more tales to write. Physical Description (Complex):
Qin'e is, physically, decidedly average for a Half-Elf. She's roughly of average height and weight for a Half-Elf her age (approximately 30 if her vague comments on the issue are taken literally), and has an average, if slightly on the thinner side of average, figure. She has enough curves to be attractive to a lot of others, but is nothing exceptional to lust over when it comes right down to it. Her red eyes are shaped in a method that showcases her Human heritage, along with her facial structure and more rounded ears, yet Elven influence shines visibly in her body's construction and her demeanor. Her air of grace cannot be ignored, and her brown hair is often kept in waves, and is taken care of enough to keep it from becoming unruly, it's flowing nature creating the illusion of a flowing combat style. When it comes to her attire, she prefers sleeveless flowing robes in the style of traditional Qipaos (also called a Cheongsam or Mandarin Gown), supplemented with decidedly fake (but realistic looking) false armor in a direct emulation of the defenses her Mother used to favor, being a more brutal warlord type of individual. Granted, she doesn't always possess such a thing, as it breaks easy. Her current Qipao emulating robe (with golden accents) are red, and leave her shoulders and thighs exposed. The robe itself lights up like a christmas tree when looked at with magical means, and Qin'e always seems to have the ingredients to cast her spells at all times. The padding on her slightly more ample than normal chest that normally lies underneath her fake breastplates is somewhat see through, but thick enough (and with an obtrusive golden color) to prevent anything desirable from being easily discerned by anyone without eagle eyes. She often is seen wearing a decently tailored backpack (that looks as if it is carrying lots of things, and glows somewhat when viewed by magical means), and has two spellbooks strapped at her side, attached to a belt that is rarely noticeable. A parasol rounds out her overall look, and is simply for show. She has several small boxes that are attached to the belt opposite her spellbooks, and each one seems filled and able to pop open at a moments notice. She often is carrying a scroll of some kind that she is reading in most cases. Physical Description (Simplified):
