Third times a charm. Mid-MO. 3/3.5/PF. Fun!

There was a thread posted a month or so ago, but im having no luck with responses, so here it is again...

I live near/work in Columbia. Im admittedly a bit rusty, having last played two years ago, but really looking forward to finding something I can stick with.

If interested, gimme a shout back at progrockus@yahoo.com. Thanks!

Howdy!

I live near/work in Columbia. I am VERY interested in playing (and know several others who may be interested) but admit to being VERY out of practice with DnD in general and dont 'know' Golarian at all. Having said that, I would love to. Y'all's (can i use 2 apostrophe's?) proposal of once or twice a month would be plenty, and im not a flake.. so THAT helps, no?

If interested, gimme a shout back at professoranthrax2002@yahoo.com. Reckon that goes for anyone who happens to read this. Thanks!

Gadzooks! I think i may have addressed this before, but I (apparently like many others) feel the need to 'shout out' when someone Raises the Flag of Hate (you love old-school Kreator even WITH the production, you know it). I, too, suckled at the teat of Master of Puppets/Peace Sells and consider them to this day to be canon. That's the stuff that made me start playing lo these many years ago. For a long while, it was just thrash, but Dream Theater changed all that. Still the best band around (opinion, of course), they introduced me to the goodest thing evar; PROG, especially of the heavy persuasion. Mmm, thinky/mathy metal. Delish!

Someone mentioned Protest the Hero. Zoinks, scary good.

Fave new/old metal: Testament - Formation of Damnation. Buy it. Now. Skolnick is back (for the solos anyway) and the whole thing is excellent from start to finish. Chuck Billy IS the voice of thrash. Prove me wrong... hah, you cant, i KNEW it!

Best concert moments: Both Metallica, actually. Saw them for the first time on my 18th birthday at Red Rocks in Colorado in 89. Got there the night before, got front row seats and Hetfield's pick. Fro an 18-year old guitar newb, it was IT. Second occurance: First leg of the Black Album tour. Had tix, then found out a friend was best friends with Metallica's tour accountant. Got Snake Pit passes for free, backstage pass, pics, etc. Ended up sounding JUST LIKE everyone else; 'So, whats your favorite song on the album?' Pretty cheesy. Good stuff tho!

I've been following Erik Mona's blog for quite awhile now at Lemuria Press, and he's been waxing nostalgic about metal music, Metallica and Megadeth for the last few days. And I think it's great! I've been a metalhead since I discovered Kiss at 11 and to find out the Publisher of my favorite gaming stuff loves the same stuff I do is like mana from heaven!

For the record, I hate the new Metallica. My face CD by them is: And Justice For All.

My fave Megadeth would have to be: Peace Sells..But Who's Buying.

Fave new metal: Killswitch, Trivium and DevilDriver.

PS Mona likes Dr. Who too! Awesome.

Is it me.. or does the gnome resemble Flea?

Well it's time to make one more post. It had to happen sometime, so allow me to introduce you to

The Gnome
Gnomes are sly tricksters who excel at avoiding notice as they move between the Feywild and the world, driven by curiosity and wanderlust.

Agreed. It doesnt quite jump out at me a smuch as, say, the Gathering, but it IS nice to Alex again.

Im gonna go ahead and say that Chuck Billy has never sounded better, and im convinced that he is the voice of thrash. There. Ive said it.

Speaking of Testament, anyone else enjoying the new one? I sure am.
The title track's great. The rest are solid, though there are few other real standouts. Good to have them back, though.

Dude...You want me to make sense of a song by a band that releases an album called Pink Bubbles Go Ape? Nope.

Andi Deris rules.

Dude, I remember that dude before he sold out to the pop over-lords. The Undertones were awesome. They opened for the Clash!

Wait a second, there, my friend. Having read earlier posts, it seems that several of Ye Fellowe Nerds are also Metalheads (yeah, i know, what are the chances). Having said this, Im thinking youre well aware that The Big 4 of Thrash (heck, ill throw in Testament and make it 5) were brought to us care of the mid-80s. For shame!! But seriously, it did my heart well to hear you guys mention the Ball and WARLOCK, of all bands. Sweet. Fur Immer? Great Doro stuff!

Speaking of Testament, anyone else enjoying the new one? I sure am.

I think perhaps your fighter's great failing at this point was rocking harder than Rod Stewart.

Come on... Rod Stewart? Freakin' bard.....

Two handed weapons with power attack can deal truely horrendous damage

so can Spirited charge (if you want a fighter to be as baddass as the mage nothing screams, "I rock rarder than Rod Stewart" like a dragon for a mount")

cleaving after either attack spreads the misery to other opponents and I've seen a few good roles from a fighter clear out plenty of challenging opponents the party was struggling to bring down.

Two weapon fighting with sword and shield or with two weapons does moderate damage but also adds enough attacks for multiple attempts at disarming, tripping ect. A well thought out weapon selection (wounding weapons for example) increase the deadlyness of multiple hits regardless off low damage output.

Combat expertise lets a fighter dodge and weave away from creatures with truely horrendous attack modifiers if they are wounded or don't have the tools to be effective, absorbing hits, conserving party resources, and buying time.

The only limit a fighter has on these tricks is the number of enemies foolish enough to remain in his path.
These are all from the PHB. A core rules, unsupplimented fighter has access to these feats and many more. A high level fighter has access to all of them at once.

Wow, im seriously envious. I've heard that, at those baby shower things, they almost NEVER play DnD. LAME.

Alright, so one of my players is pregnant and we were wanting to do a little In-Group baby shower for her and her husband. We've got a banner and will print it up with something like "Congrats on the little Monster!" with a few critters scanned on it (goblin, xvart, etc). We'll be having some munchies and of course the game (which will hopefully move from my intermission to the start of Sea Wyverns Wake).

I don't have time to order anything for the shower itself, but if anyone has any great ideas for food or anything else to do, let me know!

I'm surprised you could tell what Danzig was saying!! Talk about your sub-par production values.

Mommy, can I go out and.... KILL TONIGHT?
