Princess Ellen, second in line to the throne of a lesser kingdom, was always the favorite. Her twin, Princess Victoria, suffers from a stutter and absentmindedness that borders on the comical; in comparison to the strong, witty Princess Ellen, she was considered more an obstacle than a promising future monarch.
After a few assassination attempts were spoiled by Ellen, who adores her sister, the young fox decided that the best way to remove these threats was the removal of herself from the equation, and the promise that, should Victoria be slain, she would return and wreak a bloody violence. "I will tear the kingdom apart and use the stones to build her grave," are some exact words.
Since then, she spent some time traveling, keeping an ear turned toward news of her kingdom; it wasn't long, however, before she found herself in the one place she would be hardest to find: the open ocean.
She found herself aboard the Silver Dancer, and when the ship caught fire and sunk, it was she who was able to move skillfully enough to pull what crew members survived from the flames and keep them relatively safe until they were spotted by the Brass Bird.
She served aboard the pirate vessel from then on, joking that she was the "Prince of Pirates." Although she never had the stomach for piracy, she found easy kinship with the crew until it was captured by the Andoran navy.
She was released from prison after a relatively short term, and found herself soon at sea once more aboard the Silver Dancer II. Though the work is safe and easy, Ellen has found herself missing more adventurous journeys of late.
