Standing, the dwarf reaches up and embraces the taller Shoanti, gripping Krojun's forearms and staring into the Thundercaller's eyes as if to burn the sight onto his vision. "Go with the spirits, Kashvek."

Siolad? Krojun?

Pirknok listens to the messengers deliver their news, his expression tired, but thoughtful.

"This is it, then, isn't it. You—" he tilts his head slightly toward Siolad "are gonna go talk to magickers about Karzoug, and just hope you don't make another one of him. And you, Uncle... will you answer the call of the tribes?"

Pirknok's eyes widen as he processes Jess' words and the implication behind them. "Nak karah..." he whispers, glancing over at Krojun to gauge the Thundercaller's reaction. "You don't mean... you would rival Nanuk, and the Others?"

Turning to Krojun, the dwarf shakes his head. "We've done things that make for stories; you've said so, Uncle. But to attempt that..."

He trails off, frowning at the fire, his concern for Jess evident on his bearded face.

I want to write a response to this... can probably fit it in either tomorrow evening or else Friday night. Work has been insane this week.

I'm not really sure about Pirknok's future. The thought occurs that with his clan mostly dead, he's something of a man without a home or purpose... but he's also learned to speak Common and interact with non-Shoanti, which might be a valuable skill for a diplomat or something. Would Dorf really do that? What of his burning anger? I'm not sure...

Or perhaps, with their bond of friendship and cooperation, Hero Jess would need a quiet, unassuming bodyguard during her travels...

Definitely easier for me to get to the giants as well. I'm not sure I like the idea of 5' stepping in between them, but then again, they already only have to roll a 2 to hit me, so the +2 from flanking isn't going to make it much worse.

Do we want to focus the giants at this point, or Karzoug? I'd like to keep him from casting, if possible... Siolad, any chance you can bring in a summon or two to help with tie-down?

Krojun, are you comfortable using your superior Acrobatics to join Dorf on the blue giant, so Jess can get her sneak attack? I can charge red, but would forfeit some attacks and probably get clobbered.

Hmm... I think with Gallant Inspiration, Blessing of Fervor, and touch of good, we have a pretty good chance at beating it by 10 and dispelling it altogether. DM, does a 48 work for you? 49 if I use haste before sundering, which would be logical.

Hate to be the bearer of horrible news, but if he doesn't beat it by at least 10, it just gets suppressed for 1-2 rounds. That's why I didn't use Blessing of Fervor to add +6.

It also assumes Siolad didn't already use fireball in the fight with the dragon... I forgot to check. If he did, I'm sure he has some other damagey spell he could use.

Before I look at the result of the Dispel check, I'm actually not sure if it'd be better for Siolad to attempt to disrupt the spell via damage — and don't really have time to do the math right now. If someone else is willing to figure out which has the highest chance of success (given the unknowns), please do! DM, if you're feeling generous, you can just assume that Siolad knows which would be better and does that.

Siolad can Spellcraft to see what he's casting, right?
