Despite suspecting the monster's presence, Pindara is unsettle by its appearance. Taking a moment to recover from the shock of its presence, she is slow to act. Once she snaps out of her mental fog, she is quick to move to the furthest position from where she can see the monster, letting fly another shimmering bolt of force at the creature.
Pindara looks skeptical. "Do you think Lotus or I could pass for brigands?" She arches an eyebrow, considering the possibility. Nonetheless, she doesn't seem ready to volunteer to play the captive. "We know where they were supposed to return us. If he is coming here to retrieve his captives, perhaps we would be better served to hurry to the warehouse. If we find it empty, we can ambush him when he returns." She shrugs, her shoulders tight with the past day's tension. "If not... Then posing as captives was doomed to failure already, was it not? We can hardly trust the likes of these to act as our accomplices."
At Indo's gesture, Pindara reluctantly steps away from her vantage point. She crosses the floor toward Bedu and Indo, eyeing the interloper with open hostility as she does so. Did the send someone to my shop as well, she wonders to herself. Should I go to check? She seems about to speak out when Indo mentions turning him over to the authorities, but at the last second decides to hold her tongue.
Pindara glares at the thugs from one corner of the room, arms crossed over her chest, basket dangling from one hand. She seems preoccupied with staring daggers at the would-be kidnappers, but when Bedu searches out the fruit she is quick to provide it. When she hears of others who have fled she takes a position where she can watch the street without being seen, hoping that she'll be able to spot anymore would-be intruders before they make an entrance.
In the half-light of morning, Pindara the Potter arrives at Bedu's barber shop. One hand holding a basket of bread and dried fruits, she knocks softly at the door with the other. When it swings silently open on its hinges, she is aghast for a moment at what she sees. Quickly coming to her senses, she glances up and down the street before stepping inside and pulling the door to behind her. "What happened here?" Her tone is a bit rough, perhaps reminding her companions of her initial surliness upon meeting them. "Has the alarm been sounded?" She tries to mask her nervousness with a surly demeanor, but is not entirely successful.
Pindara stands slightly behind Bedu, just off to one side. She eyes Tanish warily throughout the conversation, her lip curling a bit at Lotus' perceived fawning. In a voice which is perhaps slightly more harsh than she intended, she interjects, "And just what language is the inscription written in?" Can we get a Sense Motive check to see if there's something more that he's keeping from us?
Pindara clutches her dagger in one white-knuckled hand, finally rushing forward just as Bedu lays the snake man low. Her face is pale as she draws herself up short, and she casts a somewhat embarrassed glance at the dagger in her hand. She sheathes it quickly, almost as if she were afraid of it, before taking further stock of the situation. Once she has calmed a bit, she moves to get a better look at the statues. The only skill I have that might apply is Knowledge: Local +4.
Seeing Indo sorely pressed, Pindara draws her knife. She seems about to rush in, but draws up short after a couple of hesitant steps and points one finger at the asp-man. She shouts a short phrase in draconic, and another blue-tinged orb of force flies from her hand to strike the monster. 5' adjust closer - free action. Draw dagger - move action. Cast magic missile - standard action.
Hearing the fracas, Pindara comes into the room at a slow jog. Startled by Bedu's warning, she flattens herself against the nearest wall and her hand drops nervously to the dagger at her belt. As the snake-men come into view, she intones a word in Draconic and gestures at the one facing Indo. Move into the room, staying next to a wall - move action. Cast daze - standard action. Edit: Added initiative roll.
Pindara stands at the edge of the hole, her face creased with deep frown lines as she searches for the ladder or rope that the goblins and their associates must use to climb down into the hole. "Are we certain we have enough torches," she asks after a moment. "We don't want to run out of light and become trapped down there. Demon goblins and anything else that's down there must not need light to see."
Pindara narrows her eyes as if she could stare a hole through the goblin. "I'm fine with giving him back the armor," she finally says in quiet common. "But why exactly do we want to give him back his sword?" Her eyes are narrow, her voice hard. "From the look of his gear, I'd say he's been a successful mercenary. And I'd imagine that around here, one gets to be a successful goblin mercenary," she posits, her face drawing into a grimace, "By killing the folk of Iskandria." She shakes her head, glaring at the pitiable goblin. "Letting this creature leave with his weapon may lead to deaths in this city, and I don't want to be party to that."
Pindara steps toward the edge, careful to keep the width of the hole between herself and the goblin. She looks down into the darkness, and after a moment makes a dissatisfied grunting sound. Finally looking back up at Bedu, she nods her acceptance of his plan. Is it alright if I make a Knowledge Local check to see if I've heard stories of Demon Goblins or The Queen With the Burning Eyes? I'll include the roll, just in case. Knowledge: Local check (1d20 4=9) Working my way down toward Indo in the dice-luck department. Hehehe.
Pindara crosses her arms, her thin lips forming a scowl. Fantastic. Everything we risked, and all we've managed to do is capture the hired help. She takes a couple of steps closer to the hole that was mentioned, squinting as she peers into the darkness. Her voice forming the guttural barks of the goblin tongue, she asks, "How large is this place?" In harsh Iskandrian she adds, "If we're going to go down there, we had better make sure we have everything we need... I brought no provisions and no torches or lantern - I hadn't planned on an amateur spelunking expedition."
I can't find the Sense Motive skill in the Pathfinder book, but I also fail at finding what other skill might have consumed it. Unless it now falls under Bluff, Pindara failed. Sense Motive vs. DC 20 (1d20=13) Pindara seems to collect herself, offering Indo an almost comically serious conspiratorial nod when their eyes meet. Her nervousness seemingly forgotten, she continues to scan the faces of her comrades. She locks eyes with Lotus momentarily, not certain what she reads in the other woman's gaze, but her attention is quickly drawn back to the captive. "Joba soto elphaba," she adds in a threatening whisper. "Joba hokkin syles." For those who speak goblin: Spoiler:
"I am a witch," she adds in a threatening whisper. "I will know if you are lying." Bluff check:
Pindara's tension is painfully evident as she takes a step back toward the corner, every muscle in her body tensed and ready to run. Her eyes scan her companions warily - she seems more cautious of her friends than of the unconscious dog or the hostile goblin. Her jaw set, she waits to see what reaction her comrades have to her spellcasting. This is it. The moment of truth. I can't believe I just did that - how could I have been so foolish? I hardly even know these people... Something a bit like panic sets into her eyes as she realizes, We've been working for the government. I just did that in front of government agents!
They already know, Pindara thinks to herself. I'll have to deal with the consequences later... She moves forward twenty-five feet (move action) to take up a position just inside the room and, with a few words spoken in an arcane language, gestures at Skittle's target in an attempt to Daze it (Will save DC 13).
