Male Halfling Druid

"It looks like we were too late."

Pelner walks to the door at the end of the room and tries the handle, but doesn't open it.

Male Halfling Druid

Pelner continues into the temple and looks around. If nothing dangerous is visible, he walks over to the second figure on the ground.

Male Halfling Druid

Pelner scrambles between the gravestones and calls out, "Hello? Are you okay?"

Male Halfling Druid

Slipping out of the temple and hunching over against the rain, Pelner walks alongside the others.

Male Halfling Druid

Pelner turns to Reed. "Excuse me, sir, but could you please give us directions to other temples in the area?"

Male Halfling Druid

"What about...what we were discussing earlier? Do you think this could be connected?" Pelner peers out the doorway and seems almost surprised to see the storm still raging outside.

"On second thought, ma'am, maybe we should check at the other temples before we talk more. Who knows what the rest of these creatures could be up to?"

Male Halfling Druid

Pelner steps through the doorway and looks down at the goblin body. "I wonder where these creatures came from. They can't have traveled far in this storm."

Male Halfling Druid

Pelner runs through the rain to catch up with the group. "What's going on? Are there more of them?"

Male Halfling Druid

Pelner looks out at his new acquaintances going out in the storm to help others. He sighs, then takes off his backpack, leaving behind everything except his sling staff, armor, and holy symbol. He gestures to Enel to stay and guard the goblin.
Trying to get him to do something along the lines of the menace trick. Taking ten on handle animal for a 22.

He gives the goblin's bindings one more look, then calls out to the rest left in the room, "Keep an eye on the goblin, please. And try not to let anything happen to En here," he says, pointing at the bird.

He steps out into the storm for a grimace. He looks back and asks, "And could someone please bar the door like he asked? Thanks." He then runs to catch up with the others, the rain falling thunderously all around him, and he finds himself suddenly smiling.

Male Halfling Druid

Pelner peers out into the rain. Don't know how much good I'll be out there. He calls to Father Emil, "Why don't you go ahead with them? I can stay here."

He turns back to the goblin. "What were you looking for?"

Male Halfling Druid

"Bring back thing?" Pelner cuts in, curious. "What thing?"

Male Halfling Druid

Position: Pelner is in the empty corner nearest to the fireplace.

Pelner Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Pelner doesn't like the look of those knives. He slips a bullet into his sling, takes a 5-foot step away from the nearest goblin, and hurls the bullet toward the goblin. "What are these creatures doing here?" he cries out.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Not sure if you want me to roll initiative for my animal companion separately, since I'm not currently riding it. If so:
Enel Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

The enormous bird plunges toward the ground with a cry. If already descended close enough, Enel will take a "5-foot flap" toward the original goblin and make a full attack. If not, Enel will charge that goblin and make just the bite attack (with a +2 bonus).
Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Claw 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Claw 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Bite damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Claw 1 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Claw 2 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Male Halfling Druid

Pelner whirls around, startled by the strange arrival, but unsure what to do. He gestures towards the creature and calls out, attempting to call his roc Enel down from his perch by the roof and direct him toward the strange creature.
Handle animal: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22

Male Halfling Druid

Pelner is jolted out of his thoughts by the sudden noise and fumbles for his backpack at his feat, reaching for his flint and steel and a torch and attempting to light them.

Male Halfling Druid

"My name is Pelner, ma'am." Pelner moves back to the corner and lays out a bedroll, but doesn't sit down. Instead he just stands and stares toward the fire.

Male Halfling Druid

Pelner has been observing this conversation with intense interest. He says, "I'm sorry about your family, but I don't think there's much we can do until the weather changes. I've met slavers before, but not around here. I'm sort of new to the area, actually. Where are these slavers from, and where are the slaves taken? That might be a start."

Male Halfling Druid

Pelner walks closer to the fire and sits by the man with the animals, gaining confidence as he gets used to the presence of others. "Say, that's a nice looking raven you have there, sir. What do you call her?"

Wild empathy on raven, take 10+3=13, raises attitude from indifferent to friendly.

Male Halfling Druid

A thud sounds from outside of the temple over the roar of the storm. A few seconds later, a small figure moves through the doorway of the temple. In a flurry of wings, a large, dark shape soars through the doorway into the shadows by the ceiling. The candlelight reveals the newcomer to be a halfling, small even by the standards of his race. He peers around, startled. "Oh. I didn't realize there were...I mean...I was just...the storm," he mumbles, before stepping quietly into a corner and sitting.
Pelner is apprehensive about the presence of others in what he thought was an empty temple. He tries to remember if he's heard of any of the other people there.
Knowledge (nobility): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Male Halfling Druid

Same here.

Male Halfling Druid

For more information, he has been a slave with a group of other halfling slaves in a manor for his whole life. He recently escaped by air, with more than a little help from a roc that came to him from an unknown source.

I didn't know much about the geography of the area when I made my backstory, right now Korvosa seems like the most reasonable place to start. Sir Rhaym, I don't think Pelner would be very eager to just work with a knight right after escaping from a life of servitude. Father Emil, I'm not sure that the small town you come from would make sense for people who own a good number of slaves.

I could either have met with Yverstrix ahead of time on his caravan route (in which case the place I flew to would be somewhere in Sanos Forest, probably), or I could just meet with the party at the start of the adventure, in which case I would have flown to some patch of woods to the east of Riddleport.

Male Halfling Druid

Most of my backstory isn't directly relevant, but I'm a recently escaped slave who currently has no home. It would be tricky setting up a situation where I know some of you already, so unless you guys have any suggestions, I'll probably just meet up with the party at the start of the adventure. That would be fun to roleplay, anyway.

(Formerly Avoron)

I edited my character slightly and created an alias. Also, I just sent in my backstory.
