I think I am going to have to drop out of this one...running a bit too slow for my liking...best of luck to the rest of you!!

"Who are 'they' madam. What took place here? We wish to help, if possible."

The half-orc looks around at the other survivors to see if anyone is willing to talk.

The orc looks at the devastation and shakes his head at such wanton damage.
"Such a loss cannot be unavenged. These drakes need to be dealt with before more suffer the same fate!"

Kind of. As this is a sparsely inhabited area of Northern Alberta the number of people is much less, but so too are our resources! Lucky for us the town of High Level was spared but some others have lost their homes.

Pelias walks along with the others towards the distant city. The woods seem safe enough, but he still keeps a watchful eye on his surroundings.

Sorry..I am here but we have rather huge fires all around us and the town I am in was acting as an evacuation centre. IAs I work for said town, I was working at the centre for the last few weeks...but things have return mostly to normal so I should be able to get back into the game..

Pelias gingerly steps onto the vessel. Sailing was never his favourite thing, but he grunts and moves towards the main mast where he stands awaiting their casting off.

Turning to the dwarf, the warrior grins.

"I am not surprised you have not heard of the Red Band. They were very new..green really and lead by a poor excuse of a captain. Sometimes you have to take what life gives you and make the best of it. The company was originally contracted to act as scouts, but the Captain thought there might be more money and glory in confronting the creature we were hired to track...a Green Dragon. Needless to say, only a few of us escaped with our lives, if not a number of scars!"

At this point, he pulls down the collar of his gambeson to show a barely healed scar some 6 inches long and nearly as wide as a dagger's blade.

"Almost got with its filthy teeth. This was just a graze..most were not so lucky. After that, I worked on my own as a bodyguard and muscle for hire until I got that letter that led me here."

He looks around and realized he has talked all the way to the docks.

"Ummm...sorry. Guess I have not had someone to talk to in a while."

Pelias exits the building with the others and starts to move in the direction of the harbour.

"I suppose we should try and find passage on the next ship. I can find us a ride if you need to gather any last minute supplies."

"She is there. I saw yer watching us earlier before friend Christen arrived."

The half-orc points over to where the girl now stands.

Standing the warrior shakes out the strange straw cape that seems to cover the half-orc from head to toe. A satchel rides at the small of his back and he holds a wicked looking polearm that looks more blade than pole. A round metal helmet with a very wide brim hangs by its straps from the fighter's thick neck, partially covered by the hood of the cape as it dangles over his broad shoulders.

"I am ready now. The sooner on the road the near our objective."

Pelias looks the man up and down and looks like he is ready to say no, but when he shows the group the horrendous wound on his torso, the half-orc changes his mind.

"Aye, I'll join your group. We cannot have these beasts destroying our homes and families!"

To punctuate his agreement to join, he slams the butt of his polearm into the wooden floor making a loud, hollow boom!

SO which faction would orcs and their kin be most associated with?? In my mind, the orcs make most of their money by hiring out as mercenary companies to some of the other factions...at least those still not savage barbarians living a hunter/gatherer life on the edges of civilization. Not too sure if you want us to 'fill in the blanks' for this sort of stuff, or if you already have it worked out.

Pelias studies the blue-haired woman so that if they meet again he will recognize her. Other than that he continues to wait for their mysterious employer.

Pelias remains silent after his introduction. He keeps a sharp lookout on those around them for signs of evesdroppers or those who might wish the fledging group harm.

Pelias looks over at the elf and dwarf sitting with him. The letter was a bit vague, but then who was he to turn down a possible payday. He looks over at the other two people sitting with him. The elf looks to be some sort of entertainer while the other....is a dwarf.

"I am Pelias, recently of the Red Band mercenary company. I take it you also received a letter asking you to meet here?"

He quietly waits to see which of the two answers first.

Good...would hate to start off this game with the dwarf and the 1/2 orc at each other's throats.

I style my orc's after the race as it is presented in the books by Morgan Howell (The Queen of the Orcs Series). He took their society and modelled it after the Iroquois people of central New York. A matriarchal society, property and good are held by the women of the clan who also form a council to decide which males would act as leaders to the clans.

I use Hero Lab to build most of my characters. It is a really great program, and they will be having an online version for PF2 (already there for Starfinder).

I will look into the 25 point buy and see which looks best...but I am not so much about the numbers as I am to the 'feel' of the character.

OK, here is Pelias. Check him out and tell me if there is anything you might want to change
