I'll have to be one of those rolled out, sorry. My RL is getting more demanding, as is best seen by my recent posting rate, and I've basically been forced too choose between sleeping and posting or my family and posting plus it's starting to affect my work, I guess is pretty obvious who/what won.

I honestly can't commit to a post every 24 hours so I guess this is a thank you and good gaming to y'all :)

Feeling only disgust at the undead shambling toward them Peitry launches into casting a spell at the spider.

At the last moment of casting Peitry has a thought and decides to alter the last sentance of the evocation and two green acidic rays shoot out of Peitry's pointed finger toward the spider.

Hallf! Sorry man, going over my spell list I see I don't know mage armor! We'll need to rectify that mistake next time we're in town.

Peitry accepts the offered enchantments gratefully, trepidation rising in his gut, but has none to offer of his own. Evocation was all about offence and battlefield control, defense was something Peitry decided he'd need to work on as he took his place in the marching order.

"Let's do this people."


Peitry responds to Kenan's musings. "Aye, but then again more monsters might be spawned if the evil in the castle isn't cleansed first. I think we should prepare ourselves for fighting powerful undead and head straight for the castle. Cut the head from the body and the body dies, or roams directionless. Cut of various limbs from the body and the head can still direct the remaining limbs actions I say."


Assuming someone unties Peitry.

Free of the ropes the wizard looks hungrily at the writhing viper. Raising the mace high Peitry snarls and brings it crashing down on the viper...

..sending dust floating into the air as the heavy mace thumps into the floor, chipping chunks out of the stone and squishing the snake in the process.

Peitry quickly sheathes the mace and then rolls up the sleeve of the hand that vielded the weapon with a flinch, revealing a long, bleeding gash running up his fore arm.

"A powerful weapon." he states as he view the things handy-work. "But thoroughly cursed. I wish to be rid of it, Sigmund, if you would be so kind and prepare a remove curse on the morrow."

"Oh S#&!!" Peitry calls out, grabbing the hand that wields the mace by the wrist and struggling to restrain himself. "The weapon! I must attack! Quick! We must find a creature of the abyss! I must attack!" he blurts out urgently.

Will Save DC 20: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Falling to his knees sweat creases his brow as he forces his hand flat to the ground. "Please." he says with an effort, "It will make me attack you or myself if we don't find something quickly." Rising to his feet Peitry staggers to the doors, desperation shining clear in his eyes.

"Please." he repeats, going out the doors. "I will explain later."

Staggering in to the street Peitry takes up a seemingly random route and heads into town.

Bloody hell! That's one powerful muther!


Walking slowly into the temple Peitry takes in his surroundings, looking into corners and shadows, fully expecting an ambush.

"Asmodeus." he mutters as he hesitantly makes his way forward. "God of tyranny and Dark Prince of Hell."

Making his way to the altar Peitry picks up the mace and turns it over in his hands.

"Devils oppose demons right?" Peitry muses as he turns over the mace. "The Worldwound spews forth denizens of the Abyss, not Hell. I'm thinking that an enemy of our enemy might just be an ally to us now, even if just temporarily, we might just be fairly safe here. If safe is the right word for dealing with devils."


"Ah! Yes. A base of operations or at least a defensible place to hang our heads if need be. I agree." he says and scans the towns roofs for any tell-tale signs of a church, a tower or a symbol, anything really.

"Good to know." Peitry replies to Sigmund as he lists off his spells and magics. "As you know, I am an evocer, so most my magics are focused on combat. I have some spells to aid us, but most to harm our enemies." he says dourly as the fort rises into view.

Approaching the towns outskirts Peitry only has eyes for the fort, the stories about what they would face there kept him alert. "So how do we want to do this? Take the winding road or head for the steps?" he asks the group in general.

"Ah." Peitry recoils as he figures out what the spikes do and with a look of disgust on his face he hands them to the paladin for disposal. "I rekon these are in need of some smiting, if you'd be so kind."


Hey guys, who's tracking our experience 'cause mine are off. I've got 24,150 now but that doesn't make sense as the level 7 milestone is 23,000.


"Faery fire is a good idea." Peitry mutters as he casts detect magic and inspects the loot. "Let's not be hasty with the spikes though, let me see if I can divine what they do first."

No concentration required to direct the dancing lights so Peitry wills them to keep the quasit between the three lights.

Following the quasit's movement Peitry wills the dancing lights to keep it triangulated between them. Gesturing and chanting Peitry points a finger at the thing...

...and sends four force missiles streaking at the little demon in rapid succession.

That's where the 50% miss chance comes in I believe... But then it's a good thing I have Varisian Tattoos (evocation) and dancing lights as a spell-like ability 3/day as a result.

Closing his eyes Peitry evokes three globes of white light into existence and sends them off to surround the invisible imp to mark his location.

Peitry waves and gestures and his eyes glow white with arcane energies.

Cast See Invisibility and shout out the little guys location to the crew, that way we can at least attack it's square though it still has the miss chance.


Peitry will hold his actions till Hallf can assess the situation.


Seeing the warriors have the giant in hand Peitry looks for ways to aid them in bringing the thing down. Since ranged seemed teh way to go PEitry shrugs and decides to summon up black tentacles to keep the thing where it was.

CMB; Grapple Check vs Giant: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18 for possible 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 points of damage.

The thing is just inside the range of 170' (100 + 10/level) so Peitry won't move.

Keeping his gaze averted from the munching monsters Peitry tries to put the sounds of crunched bones out of his mind.

"If I wanted natural I'd have become a farmer or a druid, I chose magic." says the squeamish evocer.


Peitry gives a small caugh to cover up the turmoil in his stomach, 'Well, that's digusting.'

Moving over to assist Crissor to take his mind off the two dinousours feeding he ficuses on tallying the trophies.

Looking over the battlefield Peitry opts to focus in bringing down the number of enemies so he targets the one most wounded, chanting and weaving he sends four force missiles streaking and howling unerringly into it.

Peitry hurries to put Crissor between himself and the free standing lions and waves and chants to cast a fireball at them but in his haste he snags his hand on his coat and looses concentration on his spell.


Rising as quickly as he can, muttering and cursing under his breath, Peitry gets his feet under him waving his hands and his voice rising. Raising his hands up in a sweeping motion with his fingers wriggling...

...Peitry causes black rubbery tentacles to erupt from the dirt in a 20' spread that wreathe and grab at two of the lions.

CMB Grapple, Black Tentacles: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24, Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Move; Stand up.
Standard; Cast spell, Black Tentacles engulfing lion 3 & 5.
If you'll allow it then Peitry will 5'step north-east.


Mage armor isn't on my prepped list but we'll change that after next rest and then yes, no problem.


Selling the +1 leather leaving Peitry 1825 gold plus change. Sheet updated.


@Jelani; I'd like to buy an +1 armored coat lined with mithral (no ACP so the feat won't matter and the same ASF as leather but +5 armor for 5,050gp) if that's alright with you. Then Peitry would sit on the rest of his 1000 gp to use for raw materials in crafting scrolls on the road.


Peitry, like he is wont, clutches the bag of gold tightly when they are approached by the barbarian. 'Wow.' he thinks, blinking his eyes at the enthusiastic would-be-crusader, 'Are they factory manufacturing us? There seems to be no end of people willing to go die in the wastes.' he thinks, stunned into silence.

Following him outside hesitantly, still not saying a word, he takes and involuntary step back as he watches the man perform his magics.

Blinking at the dinosaur a grin creeps over his face and he barks a laugh. "Beautiful!" he exclaims, "Just beautiful! You want to join in the wastes? Well, I'm certainly impressed, you'll definitely get to put those teeth to use out there!"

Peitry grins eagerly at the rest of the group watching the show, nodding enthusiastically.


One day is fine with me. I have no issues with hurrying things along so as not to hold the other group up too much.

Peitry stands still for a moment after the demon disappears holding his breath, tense that his disappearance is a ruse, but sighs in relief as it's apparent it's gone.

"It warned us that it would meet us in the Fort of Orcus and kill us there." he says and heads over to the babau to loot and claim a trophy.
