I don't think that crafting magic item cost only 25% of the purchase cost.
Purchasing Magic Capital is 100 gp per point; Earning (or Crafting) is 50 gp.
If you +1 longword cost 2000 gp purchased, you would need 20 points;
Earning 20 Magic is 1000 gp. Purchasing 20 Magic is 2,000 gp.
not half of the half!
It would, maybe take longer, but I don't think as per the crafting Magic Item activity p.84.

The only broken rule is the Manager which clearly don't work with a per day salary.
If you take a Temple, you net a profit of 2 gp/day (take 10, and it as a +10 gp value). An abbot is 4 gp/day and is stated as "An Abbot is divine spellcaster trained to take care of a Temple or religious organization and its members." So every Temple in the world would bankrupt! I think, it should have been stated as 4 gp per WEEK or 4 sp/day. Even then, as per Core Rule, an Skilled Hireling earn 3 sp/day. Which would make the Innkeeper at 2 sp/day. Maybe its more appropriate. Or you could double the sp/day since they are "managers". Making the Abbot at 8 gp/WEEK or 8 sp/day and Innkeeper at 4 gp/WEEK and 4 sp/day.
Most employees are Untrained Hireling which earn 1 sp/day per Core Rule.
What da ya think?
Do you have any idea what a wizard could do when is tied-up? Because my Monk tie-up in 1 round (grapple and pin (move action); tie-up (standard action); game over).

Hi,
Question about the Grapple/Pin condition.
My player have a Monk 11th expert grappler with +17 CMB and 34 CMD. He grapple everything I put on the table and ties them up as little puppies. All I see that could oppose him is a team of ninja monk grappler that would grapple the grappler! Anyway I found it very easy and near impossible to escape the grapple... wort when he pin, he tie-up. In other words my Super Genius Evil Wiz 15 is ties up in 2 rounds and can't do nothing. Is there something wrong there? What is possible to do?
First round: Grapple +17 vs CMD 19... grappled
2nd round: maintain grapple +22 vs CMD 19, maintain and put Pin condition as a move action (with the great grapple feat)
Tie-up as a standard action.
3rd round: you're screwed Super Genius Evil Wiz 15!
Even a Super Mighty Fighter 15 wouldn't stand a chance... Its like the monk is superpowerful and unstoppable. :(
a DM bored.
Joana, your right. My bad. Its because I always ship to my business and not home.
Today was a great day! I received my paizo package. 15 days, not so bad and now that I know it, I will better time my next order!

Well, Vic, I don't want to go on massive arguments with you, but only tell you my experience with UPS. I ship to USA, Arizona exactly, Stainless steel fittings, and all I have to do is provide a Commercial Invoice (so that the duties can know what taxes applicable).
Checking my quote, the duties are near not applicable because its a 50$ box.
Maybe if you start shipping to UK, France, etc, it could be a real pain in the ass, but North America is not so much. We're part of the NAFTA, which make it simpler.
One of the reason I canceled my Adventure Part Susbcription years ago, was that I receive the pdf the first of the month, and the printed copy (a bit torn even if its written not to curve it) near the end of the month. The other reason was that for less, I could buy it to my local store :\ The drawback, I don't have the pdf. :( Most of my Pathfinder books come from Amazon or my local store since they're less than Paizo Store. :\ With the money I save, I can buy the pdf if I really the like book.
Nonetheless, 14th day...
If you have a tracking #... you know where it is, and can wait. UPS will delivery it one day! or call them. Usually they're good!
Me, I can't even know where my package is in the world... I hope it still in North America...
Well... I've made a quick UPS quote.. and from the Paizo address to my address it was 25$ with the standard shipping for a 5 lbs; 5x5x3 box; I'm sure I could have gone a little bigger. Nonetheless, when you add the shipping discount that they usually offer (at my job I have a 30% discount at base and it can go up to 40%), I think it is near you're USPS *Express* who take 6-10 days (wouhoo 1 less day than standard! but a x4 price! and no tracking !) UPS was 4-5 days delivery garanteed with Tracking! I think you should change of broker, because he's really not giving you the right prices! What I found even more not logic in you're statement Vic, is that the UPS option is already implemented in USA shipping!! So I don't believe its not a really BIG deal to implement the option for Canadians!
So for me, I'm now at 12 days...

You're lucky if you could have shipment by UPS! That's the Brown Guy.. you know... because me, I can only receive by Standadr Postal service or USPS, which is kindof the same thing!?!...
I would have loved to have an UPS service, or even a FEDEX, Purolator, DHL service... I would have received it in less than 5 days! Now, I'm still waiting and am at the 11th day...
I don't understand why Paizo doesn't offer multiple Shipping methods other than Postal Service. I'm in Quebec, Canada, and it really suck to have you're shipment by Postal Service. Other Companies, based on the Pacific Coast, offer UPS, Purolator, Fedex and DHL option. That way, it takes only a week to get our things and sometimes, the pricing is nearly the same as USPS. :\ Even if its 5$ more, at least I would have the option, and would have paid the 5$ more to receive my products before my game. Now i'm still waiting and what is even more frustrating, is that I cannot know where the package is, because USPS as no tracking service or #!
So... I'll wait... and hope they didn't lost my package in Arizona...
ok... Did I misunderstood Stonesking and Protection from arrows?
You're Saying that a 10th-level doesn't get a bonus 100 hp against cuts, etc, except magic? That would be strange for a Wizard defensive spell of 4th level. Come on, preventing only 10 points of damage when a 10th level fighter would gladly do around 20-30 points of damage per attack. A 10th-level wizard with 40 hp, would'nt last long! But if he gets a 100 hp buff from Stoneskin, he's being as good as a fighter.
I believe samething would apply to protection from arrows, because otherwise the spell would be useless when you equip the opponent with a magic bow!
For the falling, I would apply the rule of blunt damage, so DR would reduce damage that would be absorbed in the stoneskin.
Hi there,
Only looking is there is planning to have support of the two major Character Generator: PCGen and RPGxplorer to create Datasets for Pathfinder RPG ?
I personnally think it would be a MUST, because with so many changes in core rules (races, classe, etc), it would be good for DMs to have a fast PC/NPC/Monster creation program. So I would suggest to already start coding was is done, so when it comes out, people could also buy the datasets... or download them for free... hum... ;)
Thanks

1) Well personnally I think you could decide to create a wand with only 10 charges, making it cheap to create. Behind one times/day is like creating a wondrous item, so only make it that "resembles" a wand...
2) Heu... its already possible.. the new power cost double standard cost. One of my PC has a Belt of Strength and Constitution +2. Cost of Belt of strength + (2x (cost of Belt of Constitution). But uses only one slot.
3) Much like FR-Spellfire abilities... which would bring is power useless.
4) I wouldn't combine creation feats, but make them ALL available at 3rd or 5h-level. Since you have a Ring of Feather Falling, I never understood why it would take a 12th-level Wizzy to create this stupid item (considering that he is 12th-level and could have a permanency spell on him giving the same power...)
5) Also, I would do a great overhaul of the Continous power of Wondrous Item, as per one of my player came with a Belt of Shield:
Spell level 1 x Caster level 1 x 2.000 gp x 2 (continuous duration 1 min/level)= 4.000 gp market value, 2,000 gp creation, 2 days. Gives a +4 on shield bonus.
Which the fighters appreciated for no more having uses of shields...
Which the cleric appreciated for no more having uses of shields...
Which the Rogue appreciated for no more having uses of shields...
Which the Wizard/Sorcerer appreciated for no more having uses of casting shield spell...
And you could create the same item, but using Mage Armor...so Wiz/Sor start-up with +8 AC, always.
Continuous power should really be eliminated...

I agree... and don't think the CR/EL is very difficult to understand, and think its really more easy to balance and encounter!
Four PC X-level should encounter a CR equivalent to their level. So, a 4 7th-level party should envounter 1 x CR 7 creature. If you challenge 1 x 7th-level PC, it should survive when fighting 1 x CR 3 creature or 1 x 3rd-level ennemy. By fighting with the same level of challenge goes against your 4 encounters before needing rest, and is why you're fighter is near death !
Also, the basic fighter is, to my view, perfect because the many feats he gains can create many fighting option. I've played a Tripper Fighter, using feats and improve trip with a flail and shield feats making him nearly untoucheable while tripping !) and a whirlwinding fighter which jump into melee and killing everybody around him !
In my games, fighter is a class that always shine against magic user, since they can hurl fireballs or area spells because the fighter is most of the time in close combat ! (and the rogue is flanking...) Cleric is near for medic when needed.
The Pathfinder Fighter gives armor or weapon bonus that are not useful since most fighter would have magic armor and weapon to help... They hit already most of the time, and depending on armor, the can be very hard to hit (anyway they have enough Hit Points to cover the scratches !)
What I love, is the specialist wizard that will shine a bit more !
Phil. L wrote: While I actually agree with your concerns Frank (and like the way that Pathfinder has tried to make fighters tougher) you keep comparing monsters of a particular CR with characters of the same level. That is not how CR works. A dire bear is a CR 7 monster and so is a EL 7 threat. That's an even challenge for four 7th-level PCs, not a single character of the same level.
Now I know why EL and CR has been ditched by WotC. People still can't understand it properly.
Sorry Frank. :)

I would keep Skill Points, and Rezdave is right, if Player's want to max-out, then they can but if they want to become "jacks of all trades", they can.
I would keep cross-class because not every class can do everything.
I think that the skill list has to be shrinked for some skills (use rope...) but not all. I'm a better listener (listen) than an observator (Spot) and I don't believe everybody as good at listening than looking !! Sense motive could be merged with spot since it rely on observation.
I liked the "acrobatic" skill of Pathfinder, which merge balance and jump. But makes a long skill entry...
Rezdave wrote: I prefer Skill Points to the Pathfinder "Force Max" system. This is somewhat like reverting to 1st Ed. when Thieves had specifics skill-table percentages.
If people want to max then the extant Skill Point system lets them. However, for those who want to max a couple key Skills and then have a broader base of abilities to get them by in most day-to-day circumstances in other areas the new Force-Max does not give them any flexibility.
Since Pathfinder is about role-playing and "telling the kinds of stories we want to tell" rather than WotC's evolving delve hack-n-slash MMO-on-paper-and-tabletop system, I think retaining the flexibility of Skill Points is critical.
IMH(but strongly felt)O,
