Pallan sees an opening and hurls his javelin at one of the Fallen. He then draws another javelin. OOC:

"Seems like they regret rushing us already!"
"Oh, dear, it's a veritable swarm!" Pallan draws a javelin, and looks around for a chance to use it.
"This is unnatural,"... "Unnatural? Hah! So is wearing a hat. It's all craft, my friend, craft. The forces I wield are there in nature for the taking, if you know how. Just as a metallurgist takes ordinary rocks and somehow refines iron and steel from them. The first man to see a blade made from iron probably thought it was unnatural too. My power kills, but so does steel. It is simply another tool." "But I cannot do that at will; I can only do it so many times. This seemed a good opportunity." Pallan looks over the tunnel entrance. "I think one of the hardier ones should take point..."
"All right, here goes," says Pallan, as he darts forward. "Bryna, get clear! Everyone else, wait just a moment..." OOC:
Moving forward to N17. Then I will delay until Bryna moves. Once Bryna has moved I will channel negative energy. I will use the grid intersection in the northeast of my square as the center of the AoE. This will affect DF, D3, D5, D7, D8, and D4. And Bryna if her move ends within my AoE. Nikou will be okay in her current spot.
As soon as Bryna finishes moving, Pallan pulls out his bronze dragon, and shouts, "Trag'Oul brings Death!" A wave of dark power spreads out, engulfing many of the demons. Pallan grins with glee. He turns back to the others. "Feel free to charge in now," he says with a smile.
Nioku advances along Pallan, stands by his side and prepares an arrow. Pallan looks at Nioku with surprise, and then frowns. "Did you not hear what I said? Or should I not concern myself with harming you along with the enemy? Or perhaps you wish that I not use such a power?"
"Friends, I can release a wave of energy around myself that can harm these creatures. But it will also harm you if you are too close. So give me space and I'll see what I can do. A thirty-foot gap will keep you out of range."
Pallan strides forwards, keeping his shield in front of him. OOC:
"You wouldn't happen to have Detect Magic ready as well, would you? Nioku found a suspiciously well carved stick." "Certainly, my friend. Here we are..." Pallan concentrates for a moment touching the bronze dragon pendant at his neck, and then his eyes shine with a ghostly light. He examines the wand.
"I hate to be a bother, but does that mean that you can read magical writing without magic, or you can't? ..." Almaia says... "Oh, no, my dear. It's quite simple. Magical writing such as a scroll is infused with power that makes it hard to decipher. It can be done without any special aid but it is quite difficult. However, a simple spell allows one to penetrate the magic that makes it hard to read. If you have that spell ready, reading a scroll is no trouble at all." "It's a spell I prefer to keep handy."
Scattered around the corpse ...as well as a thin stick and a roll of paper. Picking up the wand, Nioku decides to put it to use instead of spending her own spells.
"Did anyone prepare to read magic scrolls today?" After collecting his javelin, Pallan comes over to stand by Frank. "Here, my friend, allow me." Pallan murmurs a few words and touches his symbol to his eyes.

"Nasty-looking beasts. Careful." Pallan raises his shield, and moves forwards carefully.
The scrawny middle-aged man nods to Akara. "I sensed from far off that the harmony of the world was broken, and out of balance here. I see it is worse than I thought. But to intervene was why I came. So I accept your quest."
The scrawny man is tall but has a withered look, and is going grey at the temples. He is well-dressed but has a large animal skull mounted on his shoulder like a piece of armor, which adds to his leather jerkin with bones stitched in. A bronze symbol hangs around his neck that looks like a dragon. "Greetings. Fredric, Nioku, Erodin, Raz." He nods to each one in turn. "A pleasure. I am Pallan Dromus. I was born not far from here, but have been away for a long time. I studied under the priests of Rathma and only just returned." He looks at the faces of the others as he says this. "Yes, those priests of Rathma. We harness the power of death. But not in service to evil, but rather to protect the world from forces of the beyond, such as the demons we see here." "Demons do raise the dead to fight for them. But they also use swords. Are the swords evil? No? Then why say that the corpses are evil? They are merely a weapon to fight and frighten your enemy. With the proper control they can be used to fight evil instead of serving it." He looks at those who have not introduced themselves. "And who might you be? May I have the pleasure of knowing your names?" |
