"Thanks, Hadda." Ozella accepts the cup of morning mead from Hadda and downs it before taking a look at the snow globe.

"Oh, I've heard of this. This is a Globe of Blizzards. If you shake it, then it takes an unusually long time for the snowstorm inside to settle down, but the true magic happens if you take it and shatter it on the ground. It'll take a few minutes, about ten, but then it'll cause a huge blizzard. I'm talking miles. Temperatures drop down so far they can freeze you solid, winds blow hard enough to throw a Gnome, and don't even get me started on the snow. It's a lot, there will be a lot, and it'll last for an hour."

After her explanation, Ozella goes right back to checking her gear to make sure everything was up to code. Nothing the giants have would fit her, so she doesn't show any interest in their equipment.

She does, however, follow Hadda's lead and tries to be at least a little bit stealthy while keeping an eye out.

Also agreeing that we should handwave the rest of the battle. Let the Zorka and the Hut have its moment.

Instead of going to that window, Ozella goes to the other window with the lone giant and makes a token effort to help even though she trusts that the party and Hut will be able to bring it down. She draws her heavy crossbow during her move.

Crossbow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Ozella moves to the window at the upper right and reaches her hand out. Taking careful aim not to hit Dom, the Gnome flicked her hand while speaking words of power to create a cone of fire towards the Giant.

Burning Hands Reflex DC 18: 5d4 ⇒ (1, 2, 2, 1, 4) = 10

Move action then standard to cast Burning Hands.

Not wanting to waste any more resources, Ozella speeds her way back into the hut at Zorka's word. She trusts that the giants will be dealt with.

Move action to move back into the hut.

Looking at Damage Resistance and Spell Resistance.

Ozella moves into a good position to roast the Ice Giant, staying slightly behind Dom but not putting him directly into the line of fire.

Quite literally, as it turned out. Holding out the hand not carrying her spellbook, Ozella traced a rune in the air which burst forth a gout of flames 30 feet long and passed along the Ice Giant's skin.

Flame Arc (DC 16 Reflex/half): 3d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 6, 3) + 3 = 17

"Any weapon will do, just hit it hard!"

Dom can take the robe on the condition that we make him a matching pointy wizard hat as well.

Nah but I'm good with the Wands and Gem. I'll add them to Ozella's sheet. If no one takes Dom's offer of the Quick Runners Shirt she'll take that.

Ozella thinks hard about Ratibor's conundrum, but comes up empty. "I don't really want to fight you, either. You're a fine guardian and you've been dealt abad hand. We'll try to think of a way to circumvent us having to fight next we meet. Until then, do your best."

Following Ingrit's lead, she also tries to figure out where the hut has transported them.

Know Geo: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Beginning of the day Ozella casts Ant Haul and Mage Armor. Heightened Awareness will come closer to their destination.

The only thing that really stands out to Ozella is the Hyperboreal Robe, Air Elemental Gem, the Wand of Silent Image, and the Wand of Ice Spears. Why does that one have an asterisk after it?

If no one wants to claim the Robe, though, she's currently wearing a Cloak of Resistance +2 that would be replaced by the robe. That could go to whoever wants it.

Ozella is also a spontaneous caster, so the Pearl of Power does nothing for her.

Ozella mostly listens as she eats. Despite having apparently been raised in an establishment that served food, she didn't seem all that willing to jump in on the cooking. Instead, she helped get the dishes and drinks ready as a way to help.

"I like Hellboar. Granted, that boar could have had ancestral ties to Abaddon or the Abyss, but Hellboar sounds better than the other options." Ozella says quietly,

"I'm here for my uncle, Fongledoytch. He's an adventurer, well known throughout the Gnome community. Traveled the world, fighting evil, righting wrongs, being a proper Caydenite. The last time he came home, he had started Bleaching, said he had a run in with Baba Yaga a long time ago, and she cursed him. That's why I'm trying to find her, so she can break it and he can go on with his worry free life. That or become strong enough to break the curse myself."

No library? We've made a mistake. We have to go back!

"You mentioned this configuration of the Hut. How many configurations are there? Are you only in this one? Is there anything special about this one other than the trials? Who were you at war with? How long ago was it?" Ozella shows no mercy when asking questions.

Ozella will recast Heightened Awareness for the knowledge boost and try to figure out what war he is talking about.

Know History: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 11 + 2 + 2 = 19 +2 if Good Hope is still up.

Though Ozella does not speak Iobarian (yet! She made a note), she does speak Draconic. She nods along to Hadda's words (whatever they were) and speaks in Draconic after Hadda's explanation.

Knowledge Local Ratibor: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32

"W-w-what?" Ozella stammered, broken out of whatever thoughts passed through her head. "Fire magic is really too brief to do any real cooking and even if you tried then the outside would get really ashy and inedible and the inside would be a crapshoot of unevenly cooked meat not that I ever tried it of course that's really irresponsible I've never used a Burning Hands spell to cook before and I certainly haven't even used a Burning Arc on a patron's meal after he complained that it was cold and started yelling at mom and right in front of dad so that wouldn't have been good for anyone since dad was already in the process of grabbing his ladder but that guy deserved the food explosion that hit him and I'll stand by that even to this day mom!"

Ozella finally took a breath and blinked a few times. "Huh. Didn't know I was still working through that. Anyway, the important part is that it doesn't work very well, I've been banned from cooking, and fun fact we had a neighbor who tried to cook a chicken with nothing but kinetic energy. He doesn't live next to us anymore."

Ozella entered the room but stayed near the door and out of melee. Taking stock of everyone's positions, she spoke words of magic, waved her hand, and cast a spell.

Time seemed to slow for every one one of the adventurers as they were affected by the Haste spell.

Move action into the room, I believe Haste will be able to hit everyone as well, but focus it more on the frontliners if need be.

Planes: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 22

Choosing Spell-Likes and Special Abilities.

Ozella had to marvel once more at Hadda's vast knowledge of many things. Perhaps she should become a librarian after she helped her uncle. No, but then she'd get in trouble for reading the books instead of working. The sounds of combat shook her out of her thoughts. "Don't be fooled if it seems like it falls in battle, they're ferocious and fight well past their limits!"

Not entering the room, Ozella flips through her spellbook until she lands on Haste. Spending a full round action and a Reservoir Point, she swaps out her Fly spell for it.

In order to give her friends the best view possible of the creature, Ozella casts Dancing Lights from around the corner to illuminate the beast.

"A Changling, so the daughter of a hag," Ozella mumbled to herself. Then she addresses the group. "While I wouldn't mind a rousing round of theorycrafting, perhaps we should make our way to the third trial, because it would be very strange for there not to be one given the motifs and legends surrounding Baba Yaga. We'll get another clue, and perhaps the puzzle can be solved."

Ozella readies to counterspell any magical effect that happens that she doesn't agree with.

With her spellbook in hand, Ozella will flip to the page with Dispel Magic on it and swap the spell with the Tongues she had prepared today.

Full round and a Reservoir Point for Quick Study.

Sorry for my absence. Circumstances at work have changed, and that's where most of my posting happened. I'm still busy, but I wanted to get these rolls and help at least a little bit.

"I have Dispel Magic in my spellbook, if we decide it's necessary I can swap it out," Ozella said, adjusting her glasses. Alternatively, I am capable of short distance teleportation, if we would like to save resources."

"But I do agree that the hourglass chalice is the correct one."

"Humans." Ozella whispered to herself, still beside herself.

Linguistics: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 10 + 2 = 32

"The Three Who Watch," Ozella confirms. "Which is a good start, but we also have to leave the hut to get there. How is everyone feeling? Does anyone feel like they need to take a quick breather? Everyone calm?"

After taking a few breaths and the color coming back to her face, Ozella began laughing. "Back off from Ozella!" She repeated, almost falling over from laughter. "Just all angry like and loud and you were so worried!" Eventually, her laughter did subside, and she offered to shake his hand. "Thank you, Domitian. For worrying and for stepping up."

Once she regained her composure, she pulled out a book from her pack and began taking notes. "She wanted to murder us, sure, but that's really just what they do, you know?" She explained even as she wrote. "The biggest takeaway is that her mother, Baba Yaga, killed her and then made her a Dream. Which would put anyone in a bad mood, to be fair."

"That was Yelizaveta. She was the 13th daughter of Baba Yaga, and the one that directly preceded Elvanna as the queen. Destroying it was likely what Tryva wanted with testing our resolve, so I'm with Hadda. We should speak with it again."

Ozella gulps as the Animate Dream floats in front of her, but she doesn't flee the room. Instead, she raises her hands and speaks her spell even as her mind runs in circles making sense of the Dream's speech.

Magic Missile: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 4) + 4 = 17

Ozella then five foot steps towards Domitian.

Ozella also auto passes the Spellcraft check.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29

Deciding to talk it out this time, Ozella keeps an eye out for whoever might fall asleep due to the spell so that she can wake them up.

Even though she speaks to the Animate Dream, she still stays away from the creature and continues to do her best to attack. Since Flame Arc didn't do as she wanted, Ozella tosses a plethora of Magic Missiles at the incorporeal.

That likely ain't going to do anything.

Checking Resistances and Immunities

"She's an Animated Dream," Ozella explains in a hushed voice as Hadda tries to reason with it. "Looks like a ghost, but isn't. Please don't strike unless it does."

Ozella will take a step towards the door and readies a Flame Arc for 1 point from her Arcane Reservoir. With no regard for Dom, of course, he's already been made slightly fire-proof.

Five foot step, readied action. If the Animate dream performs hostile actions, then Flame Arc in her direction.

Flame Arc, Reflex DC 16 half: 4d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 6, 4, 1) + 3 = 20

"There's a lot of nightmares out there that will want to fight, Dom, but Crasius might be right. We'll just have to see when it happens."

Ozella stands in a corner according to Hadda's direction, her spellbook out and at the ready.

No additional buffs.

Auto pass both Knowledge checks (Avid Reader trait) and can't get lower than the Perception DC.

"Raven familiars are notorious for being able to speak a common human tongue," Ozella whispered to Domitian. [b]"While it may not be a familiar, there are tales that Baba Yaga has three raven allies who serve as her prophets. This is, presumably, one of the three."[/ooc]

Once her information dump was over, Ozella paid close attention to Hadda's attempts at diplomacy with the raven.

I don't think anyone held on to Fiske, but if the GM is fine with a little retroactivity Ozella would treat him fairly well and carry him.

Ozella speaks Sylvan if you want to play Telephone with Wapiti, Ingrit.

Ozella happily takes a drink from Hadda before passing it to the next. "I agree with Crasius. That means we traveled a long way, too... But that's not surprising considering there's a strange new portal network that's causing the cold temperature of the north to ruin the weather of other places. Also, because of Baba Yaga."

After listening to the others about their respective roles, Ozella speaks up. "I'm going to stay a medium distance away from any enemies we encounter, roughly twenty to forty feet is what I consider my safe zone. I throw a lot of fire around. Oh!" Ozella suddenly exclaimed as she pulled out a purplish-pink and heavy looking tome. It looked well-used, with several pages dog-eared and several notes sticking out of various pages. Those who were close enough could read the title, Ozella's Spellbook of Great Importance.

Ozella will use one point from her Arcane Reservoir and a full-round action to use Quick Study and change Make Whole to Resist Energy. She'll cast Resist Energy twice to give Domitian and Wapiti Fire Resistance 20 for 70 minutes.

She then looks around at the others. "Does anyone else think they're going to be in the thick of things?"

Ozella's eyes lit up. "Ohhhh, this is amazing! Is this a teleport conjuration spell into a transmutation spell?" She asked Zorka, excited. "Does the hut transform to match the style and culture of wherever it teleports to, like what Rurik suggested? Is that why there's only specific places it can go using items in the cauldron?"

Regardless of whether Zorka answers her in a timely manner, Ozella tries to figure out where they are based on the specific style of construction.

Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 6 Engineering or Geography is +10, Local is +13, depending on what you want to use.

Ozella's eyes light up at the fact that they could travel using the cauldron. "I wond..." And then she trailed off as Hadda mentioned being able to study the hut later. "Yes, I suppose there will..." She still seems particularly put out about it.

The Gnome does turn to Domitian with a warning. "Don't try going outside, we don't know how much of the hut gets transferred over to the new location. We may be safe, we may still have to fight out way out of here."

Going to be afk for a few days. My wife and I just moved into a new place (Huzzah!) but we have a lot to unpack and a lot to just... straight get rid of so we don't have so much clutter.

Ozella nods. "Okay, okay, very interesting. Invoking written spells via a well of innate arcane magical power," The gnome started before looking towards the ceiling and mumbling to herself. "But is it through bloodline or an intuitive understanding of the universe and how to bend it either through instinct or knowledge or..."

Slowing looking back down at Hadda, her face turned red and she held up the pieces of spellbook she found. "I, uh, there weren't any scrolls I could find, just the pages from a spellbook for the Scry spell so you should use your trinket to speak with Fiske since, if he goes to where he last saw Erland then he might disappear as well, since we can't use my bauble yet without a sudden jump in both magical power and knowledge."

Ozella then watches carefully as Hadda casts the spell and begins speaking with Fiske.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Ozella nods at Hadda's words. "Definitely, definitely. I'll also need to procure a new spellbook soon, I'm afraid mine is nearly full of this and that. I'm sure there's probably one laying around here somewhere, or I could try making another," she says as she begins pacing. "I can case Scrying from a scroll, probably, which was why I was looking for it. Hopefully multiples, so we could Scry and copy."

The Gnome stared at the scroll of Speak with Animals. "That should be scribed, but then we might miss out on Erland. Can you swap out spells? I'm not sure of your particular school of magical study still but if you could scribe it into your book and then cast it then that would be the best case scenario however if not then we should use it right away instead of waiting for you to rest and prepare it since we've already used so much time here just trying to find that."

No objections here.

"That's the really good thing about libraries, and especially magical libraries," Ozella stated in response to their new friend's worries about their other friend. "The chance that they have the knowledge you need to succeed is great! I don't have the ability to Scry, yet, should probably do that sooner or later, though, going to have to find a really shiny mirror..." The Gnome shook her head to clear her thoughts. "But there might be a way to do it here! After all, just look at all of those spellbooks..." Ozella once again shakes her head, this time slapping her cheeks with both hands. "No, focus! Erland first, then you're allowed to treat yourself to knowledge!"

If the Map works like Crystal Ball, does that mean Ozella can use it without having Scry prepared? If that's not the case, she'll look for a Scroll of Scry in the library to use with the Map.

While Erland disappearing was a matter of concern, Ozella didn't immediately check out the mist. It wasn't due to negligence, it was because she wanted to fully explore the Hut before possibly being whisked away to who knows where.

However, she did not make it very far. Upon reaching the library her mouth twitched into a giddy smile. Immediately she got distracted by books, quickly rushing forward and checking the titles, authors, and contents of the ones she didn't already recognize by sight.

"Haddaaaaaa!" Ozella exclaimed. "Books! How precious must the personal library of Baba Yaga be? I bet there's so many first editions here, probably so many things lost to time! Oh, oh, where to start? Probably the table, right?"

As if answering her own question, the very excited Ozella nearly ran to the tables. Despite her excitement, she was very careful with the books as she examined them, looking for any page turners in the case of books that looked very old.

Sorry, I thought I posted but I guess that didn't actually happen. It's done now.

"Oh this is so exciting," Ozella muttered as she rushed after Zorka.

Her eyes widened at the sight of the map room and rushed to look the map over. "What is this? How can we use this to find Baba Yaga?" Ozella's eyes swept over the room, hungrily taking in every detail. A she sees Hadda detect magic in the room, the Gnome speaks a few words herself. Unlike Hadda's glowing eyes, Ozella's glasses glow with faint pink runes and she looks at the room in a whole new way.

Ozella has the Avid Reader trait for Arcana, so always assume take 10 on that unless otherwise noted. 28 normally, but 30 Arcana now with Heightened Awareness.

I'll check Resistancs, which it has none. Since "nothing special" isn't worth mentioning, Ozella would omit it from speech.

"Oh, a Kikimora!" Ozella nearly squealed. "This is my first time actually seeing one! Hello! I'm looking for Baba Yaga, have you seen her? Do you know where she is? Can you have the hut take us to her? And in sorry if I'm asking too many questions but since you said your mistress are you bound to this hut against your will or did you decide to stay here?" The Gnome rapidly spat out questions, in a good nature of course, and finally paused to wait for an answer.

"Oh, they're friends?" Ozella asks, peeking around the corner again in order to see the group in the witch's but once more. "Well that's both a relief and terrible news."

The Gnome entered the hut fully now, looking around at the interior, and confidently walked up to the newcomers. "Ozella Whizzlefizz," she started, offering a handshake to all. "Not a witch, but I fancy myself a wizard. Self-taught so I've heard it's a little weird. I'm chasing for clues on the whereabouts of Baba Yaga because she cursed my uncle and now he's Bleaching. What are all your names, occupations, and reasons for being in a witch's hut in the middle of nowhere?" Ozella spoke on a day, yet earnest, tone.

Roger that. Thank you. Ozella will have it allocated to Int, and I'll adjust her stats tonight when I'm back from work.

I forgot to add this: each PC who receives the mantle gains a boon of being able to add 2 points to her/his ability scores.

This bonus was more what I was referring to.

Since we're now entering the story, what else could you tell us about the Mantle? Does it apply to all of us or whoever wears it? What type of bonus is it?

If it everyone and it's not an Enhancement bonus then Ozella will pump Int.

I'll update her header soon, but Ozella would have Ant Haul (14 hours) and Mage Armor (7 hours) active, and cast Heightened Awareness (70 minutes) upon coming near the hut.

Popping her head in next was Ozella. Vibrant pink hair tied up in a bin couldn't hold back all of her hair, and she wiped a few errant strands away from her thick glasses that made her eyes look bigger than actually were. Her black robes still carried some of the foliage of the forest at the hem.

"Was that yelling, Crasius? Who was yelling?" she asked, her voice high-pitched but not unpleasantly so. Her eyes fell on Dom, Ingrit, and Rurik and she slowly returned her head back around the corner. "Ask if any of them is a witch, Crasius."

Apologies for the double post. Crasius and Hadda, how do you feel about starting off the journey somewhere in Andoran? Perhaps even Almas.
