Sorry for the long silence a lot been going on and after getting pinged on Discord I wanted to drop a note in all my games. I'm actually doing a lot better now, pretty much fully recovered. However, my wife has been really sick, last month she was in the hospital for a week and I'm sitting in the surgery center now waiting to see how things turn out on a few hour procedure she is currently in. Depending on how invasive the surgery is I may be dealing with a lot for at least a month or so taking care of her and the kids and working. On top of that with the holidays coming and the normal delays that revolve around that I am going to say that it's going to be at least January before I look at picking things up again. Maybe if things get better sooner I will try jumping back in before that but I feel like early January is going to be more realistic.

If you need to move on without me I understand feel free to set my character aside or find a replacement if needed and when I check back we can go from there. Sorry for all the absent time, these last few months have just really kicked my butt first physically, then mentally and emotionally. Hope you all are keeping safe and have a good Thanksgiving and Christmas for those who celebrate.

Hey, I wanted to drop in and give all my games an update. I'm still alive, obviously, and I've managed to stay out of the hospital and off a ventilator. However, I'm still not fully recovered. Even though I'm outside my two week symptomatic/infectious period by over a week there are some lingering issues that are still weighing on me (continued shortness of breath, getting light headed, overall fatigue). I doing my best to push through it but it is barely just enough to get me through work everyday and doesn't leave a lot of time for anything else. I would like to give a hard and fast "I'll be back and up to playing again by this time", but sadly at this point I can't. It could be a couple weeks or it could be a couple months for me to get used to this new (hopefully temporary) norm on top of a few other things going on.

All this to say, I'm ok, I'm trying my best to manage, but I can't give you a hard "this is when I will be back". I understand it has been awhile as it is, between this most recent struggle with COVID and my past slowness with finishing up my graduate stuff so if you need to move on without me I completely understand and I'm just sorry that right as I was getting back into things again this whole virus thing came along and knocked me back down again. I'll check in again once I feel I'm up to playing with everything else I am balancing.

Earlier

With the group slowly wittling down the massive owlbear, things begin to start taking a turn for the worst as Chrysa gets knocked to the ground and Vincent almost meets the same fate. Just out of the beasts reach he quickly casts a spell as a brilliant puff of glitter explodes in the things face causing it to be blinded temporarily. It buy the group just enough time to coordinate and put an end to the threat before things become all too dire.

Now
After exploring the rest of the place and finding whatever loot they could, Orri heads back with the others to Orrville to finish dealing with the wreckage that the beast brought down upon his kingdom. He is happy for the help of anyone that wishes to offer it, but doesn't want to hold anyone up either understanding they all have their own kingdoms to attend to. Either way it is going to take some effort to return things back to normal after what happened.

Dropping a note in all my games. Finished up with school yesterday, just waiting on the audit for me to officially be done and graduate even though there are no commencements with the whole virus thing. Wife is doing better after brief stint in the hospital. Looking at starting to get back into my games and get posting again sometime this week. My work is really crazy as first kids were coming back on the 17th but now everything is going to be virtual for an indeterminate amount of time, but teachers are coming back still and there is a lot of questions floating out there so bare with me as I ease into catching up on things and getting back into a regular posting routine again over the next week or so.

Slogging through the wilderness, following the trail of what must be a massive owlbear. He is quiet during the whole trip. Hundreds of things racing through his mind, the most pressing of which were how did an owlbear even get that big, what would have drawn its attention to his lands, why didn't he setup the army he had been planning earlier, how was he going to fix this?

The last question was the easiest to answer, kill the beast that wreaked havoc on his lands. Luckily, it didn't take the group long to find the cavern the creature called home. Once they found the room where the owlbear was napping, the group stepped back preparing for the fight ahead, using what magic they could in order to bolster their chances of winning. Once all were ready and in place for the fight to begin Orri looked to Sophie to enact her plan and start what was bound to be a tough fight.

Before next turn, just a reminder that we'll be starting a new year. This is my recommendation on the spreadsheet.

1) Copy the current treasury accounting and rename it to 4710AR. (Hide it if you like)
2) Take your Total from Kuthona and add it to Starting on Abadius on the regular treasury accounting sheet.
3) Clear out the rest of the treasury accounting sheet.
4) On the Kingdom Stats set the year to 4711 AR.

Then you are good to go for the new year!

Quick note. Somehow on Turn 4 I put my starting BP at the wrong number. At the end of Turn 3 I was at 30 BP. So obviously that messed up my turn 4 and 5 BP. Just wanted to explain before people wondered why my BP suddenly jumped so much.

As the temperatures drop in the Stolen Lands with the cold of winter setting in Orri is focused on making sure his people have the food they need to survive the winter months. He continues construction on his road system, and expanding east, but back home he builds a stockyard so that the fields, pens, and ranches can all be more productive in getting their food to market. Some of the people living directly in the captital aren't all that happy about it, but after sending the Royal Enforcer around to smooth things over, everyone seems to appreciate the forethought and as the taxes come into for the month they are as full as they have ever been.

After some discussions with Sophie via courier Orri sends out a missive to the others requesting that they join him and Sophie to explore some of the lands near his kingdom to the south and east. He offers Ipmeek some aid to do the same in his own lands, assuming the others agree to help.

After the harrowing ordeal of being locked up in Sophies basement. Orri was glad that Ipmeek and Sophie were willing to keep trying to help him recover from this. A week after they found another supply of wolfsbane and set to work on trying to cure Orri once again. Luckily, thanks to the loaner cloak they had found, Orri was able to kick the disase with the help of the poison. Happily thanking his two friends for their help.

Promptly returning to Orrville he sends out letters to all of his adventuring companions letting them know the disease had been dealt with and would no longer be an issue. He also asks that in the coming months the group get together to explore a little bit of the last to the east of both his and Ipmeek's lands so that they can plan further development.

Figure we do three hexes to the east and south of Orrville for me and 3 hexes to the east of Ipmeek that should give us some room to grow for a bit longer and that would only be 6 days of exploration (assuming those are all still hills terrain). With travel time we should be able to that in 2-3 weeks time no problem still leaving time for our kingdom development.

After sending the letters out to everyone, including Victor, he returns his focus on his kingdom. Expanding to the north he no butts up against Ipmeeks territory and as such begins construction on a system of roads hoping to connect his lands to Sophie's and Ipmeek's in the near future, as well as others when he can. He also keeps adding more cisterns for drinking water for his people. It isn't elegant but it is functional.

Vincent:
Orri listens to Vincent's words and much of it was what Sophiel had already discussed with him. He seems a bit disappointed that there is no new revelation to make things easier, but offers Vincent a smile as he offers to help and notes "Any assistance would be appreciated."

As the conversation turns to borders and politics Orri notes "Originally, I had planned on claiming your lands for myself, before knowing that someone already had claim to them. I have no issues with you claiming lands that connect to my borders. I can stop any further expansion west to give you some room to grow, but I would, for obvious reasons be against you expanding east into lands I've claimed. Perhaps there might be a better solution? Are your interests really toward starting your own kingdom and if so to what end? I mean, unless I'm mistaken you can't have offspring so to build a better place for, so that leaves the lizardfolk? You want to build a realm for them to rule over one day?"

He pauses to give things thoughts before suggesting "Perhaps instead of you building up a kingdom of your own you would consider joining mine. I could give you a seat on my council and we can leave the tower under your control, I could even see to helping to rebuild it to its former glory. I would even happily let you maintain control over the lizardfolk, to ensure no problems with my own people. Of course, I don't need an answer now, but please consider it."

Orri was surprised but very happy when Chrysa arrived unannounced before he set out to Sophie's lands. He was quite, obviously concerned but travelling with Chrysa definitely helped to ease his mind to some degree.

With Sophiel

Orri hesitates but eventually gives her a nod. "I trust you and I would really rather not hurt anyone, so do what needs to be done, just... try not to kill me. That... I wouldn't appreciate." He offers a weak smile as he attempts to joke somewhat about the situation he finds himself in.

Chrysa:
Orri gives Chrysa a warm smile when she offers to help, telling her plan to go to Sophie's kingdom as she offered the cell that was at the old fort for him to use, plus the more that were there to watch and subdue him if needed the better.

He gives his agreement about the book as he works through it with her learning as much as he can about what happened at the ruined tower.

Vincent:
Orri offers Vincent a hesitant smile at the mention of someone persistantly trying to feed him. "That must have been one of my companions, Isla. She has been talking about wanting kids for awhile now so she must have been happy to see a child about, though no doubt it is going to not only bring up a lot of questions but also likely renew her passion for children sooner than later..." He trails off at the end obviously not looking forward to those future discussions.

Taking Vincent somewhere quiet he starts "So, the reason I wanted to speak to you is because I was hoping you may have some experience with a certain problem I appear to have. Apparently, in fighting out way through your fathers minions I was cursed by the bite of the werewolf he had serving him. As such, it seems that now I am bound to turn into a beast on the next full moon. My friends already had some plans to help subdue me but I thought with you proximity to your father and his minions you might have further insight?"

Bella:
Orri is appreciative of the offer to help and tells her the plan to go to Sophie's kingdom and use the prison in the old fort to lock him up. He also asks though "Weren't you bit as well, did Sophie have a chance to examine you and determine if you are cursed/diseased/whatever as well?"

Ipmeek:
Before Ipmeek departs to return to his own lands Orri gives him his heartfelt thanks for helping to find the poisonous herbs and attempt to aid in curing him. He lets his kobold friend know that he will be going to the old fort that Sophie has claimed as her capital so that they can use the cell there to try and keep him contained since the cure hasn't seemed to work as of yet and notes that some of the others will be there just to ensure he stays subdued and doesn't hurt anyone.

Before things get crazy Orri goes to work on making sure his kingdom is in order before he needs to set out to the old bandit fort. Even with things weighing heavily on him of what is to come in the days ahead he does a solid job at continuing to grow his kingdom. Claiming more land, setting aside more farmlands and opening another mine. He continues to build more cisterns in the city to give people clean drinkable water and his people are happy, paying their taxes on average as expected.

A few days before the next full moon Orri makes his way to the old bandit fort, now Sophie's capital, in hopes that her and any of his other friends will help him keep others safe should he actually turn into a werewolf.

Vincent:

After they get back to Orrville and Sophie pulls Orri aside he comes back to talk with Vincent a moment. "Ok, I need to do some things with Chrysa for a bit. I will have one of my trusted lieutenants give you a tour if you like, just to see how things are in a more 'normal' town since it sounds like you hadn't really been around one in awhile. Please, be on your best behavior and try not to scare anyone. Later this evening we can meet back up, I'd like to get your insight on something."

He sends word for one of his men, Joshua to come and give Vincent a tour of the town and show him around, until they can meet later in the evening.

Bella:
Back at Orrville, when he returns from talking with Sophie Orri tells Bella about being cursed to turn into a werewolf, but planning to work with Sophie on finding a way to fix it. He also asks, what Sophie pulled her aside to talk about, if it was the same thing and if so, what her status was.

Either way, after their talk he tells her that he needs to do some stuff with Chrysa and heads off with their friend.

Chrysa/GM:

When they return to Orrville and after Sophie pulls him aside to talk he eventually meets back up with the group. He talks to Vincent and Bella and then comes over to Chrysa so they can go do their planned work of reading through the journal and figuring out what all happened at the ruined tower where they found Vincent.

It is pretty apparent that something is bothering him when he walks with Chrysa back to his home. When she inquires about his concern he replies "Sophie was worried about me being bitten by that werewolf. Apparently... well I guess I am cursed or diseased or whatever it is but now I am going to turn into a werewolf on the next full moon unless we can find a way to cure it. Sophie thinks if I take some poisonous herbs it might be able to cure me so... I guess that is what we are going to try and do..." He pauses for a bit before adding "I think I'll build some places I can try and lock myself up too, just in case it doesn't work. I don't want to turn and then hurt anyone..."

....

Eventually after werewolf talk is aside, Orri shows Chrysa to his private chambers so they can have some quiet and look over the journal without any prying eyes, specifically from Vincent, which he sent off for a tour a bit earlier.

Orri gives Vincent a slight shrug "Any are welcome. I did ask Chrysa to come along for a couple of things before she heads back to her own land and Sophie just brought something concerning to my attention that will likely need to be dealt with. I believe Bella and Anna are heading home." He looks to them for confirmation one way or the other.

Orri winces a bit when Bella jokingly calls him Papa, but then when Vincent says it too he shakes his head and spins on his heals toward the boy "Nope, that's not going to work. You want to give me a pet name use Uncle Orri, but most definitely not Papa. Don't want people getting the wrong idea." He lets out a frustrated sigh before turning toward the east and slightly north and point "Orrville is that direction. Not too far."

Orri is a bit shocked at first but quickly nods along to Chrysa's suggestion "Uh yeah... I think Chrysa's idea maybe works best..."

Orri runs over to the rail when the boy flops backwards off of it but when he sees Vincent is just fine down below he just shakes his head. He hurries to catch up to Chrysa and moves in close as he speaks quietly to her "Hey, maybe you can come back to Orrville with me for a bit before heading back to your lands? We still need to look over that journal and figure out what all happened here and with Vincent coming along with me, an extra pair of watchful eyes would be appreciated."

Later, downstairs

Orri eventually meets back up with Vincent and he goes over to note "So... you should probably try and act a little more... human when we get back to more civilized places. Other people may not be as understanding of your differences as we are, at least not until they get to know you."

Orri looks at the boy with some amount of pity as he tells his tale to Ipmeek and then lets out a brief sigh "That sounds... well I'm glad we could help you even if we didn't know that we were."

He hesitates for a moment before offering "If you have been stuck here for that long perhaps it would do you some good to see the surrounding lands and get to know some more people. I don't pretend to really understand what you are, but you don't seem to be like your father so as long as you can act within the bounds of our laws and not harm anyone, you are welcome to come with my back to Orrville, just to get out of this dreary tower."

Orri glares at the 'boy' who is apparently almost three times his age, assuming he meant he has been here those 60 years as well, but then he takes a deep breath and hesitantly nods, especially as Chrysa seems to be willing to give him a chance. "Very well. Just know you bump up to the borders of some of our kingdoms, I welcome you as long as you have no ill intents towards us or our people."

Orri finally chimes in "We were just exploring the place as it was close to a number of our borders. We had no fight with your father until he made one with us. As to you claiming this place, aside from your father just claiming it do you actually have anything that places it officially under your families control. I'm not interested in stripping your inheritance if it is truly yours, but if we are to be new neighbors I think we will need to get to know one another better."

Orri goes around healing his friends as is needed to return everyone back to full health or as close to possible, not interrupting as the others talk.

Eventually he gets to Chrysa and holds her hand gently as he heals her wounds and notes "Do not be so hard on yourself. As Sophie said, it could have been any of us, we know that was not you, that you would never do that. I'm just glad I could end this mess before it was too late for y... for us all. Sadly though, now I have no more tricks to save us in the future so we can only rely on one another."

Orri grins as Chrysa wakes up, then slowly stands and helps her to her feet. He gives Sophie a nod and notes to Annalla "Presumably he is gone, banished to the first world, hopefully forever. Though I suppose we shall see. I couldn't let him win and hurt you all so I used my last wish to get rid of him, the golem and the wisps that had been bother us. We should be safe here now. Let's finish searching the place and then get out of here."

I can heal people if we don't want to expend wand charges. I have up to 10 CLWs I can cast

With the threat over Orri quickly takes Chyrsa in his arms as he casts a healing spell.

Orri's eyes go wide as he sees Bella take down Annalla and then turn her attention on him just as Lord Maridos blocks off his escape after knocking out Ipmeek, all while Sophie is getting crushed by a golem and Chrysa lays at his feet bleeding out. Things were looking pretty dark and he refused to let things end this way, especially when he was the one that asked for the others help in exploring this place.

He stands over Chrysa defensively, trying to figure out what he can do and then something comes to mind. With a sly grin he promptly pulls up his sleeve as he glares at Lord Maridos "I told you that you would regret it if you hurt my friends..." He starts to rub his arm over the number one tattoo as he says "I wish Lord Maridos, his golem and all these damn willow-wisps were taken from the material plane, never able to return, sent to the first world to be play things for the fey for the rest of their existence, unable to harm anyone or anything else again, while having no ill effects on myself, Isabella, Ipmeek, Chrysa, Annalla or Sophiel."

Seeing Chrysa fall, Orri rushes over to her side, glad the golem is tangled up with Sophie right now and tries to drag her away from the vampire hoping Ipmeeks' bomb does its job and blinds the fiend.

Orri reaches down and touches Ipmeek as he intones a spell, filling the kobold with healing energy in hopes he can save himself.

Orri is ready to run in after the others to help in the fight, but the beams of fire hit Chrysa and Ipmeek and the little kobold begins to fall from the sky. Quickly he turns on his heels, says the command word for his whip so the acid dissipates and flings the end out toward Ipmeek, wrapping it around his legs and then pulling it hard.

As he yanks it Ipmeek descent stops just over the edge of the railing and Orri braces himself, the whip in hand, holding up the kobold for now from falling to his likely death.

Seeing Chrysa over to the side he calls out "I'm going to need some help pulling him up!"

Orri barely missing getting hit by the golem, steps out the door, bringing his lights with him and promptly shuts the door behind himself. He then calls out to the others hoping for some guidance on where he should go "Where is everyone?"

As the light comes back from Chrysa leaving Orri sees the door next to him, no one else in the room except the golem. He steps down to the door, opens it and then quickly casts another spell on himself to heal some of his burns from the ball of fire.

Orri can't see a damn thing when an unnatural darkness comes over the area. Knowing Chrysa is coming he tries to put some space between himself and her while keeping up his inspiring words to the others and then casts a spell.

Orri is blind sided by the flames that singe him pretty badly, right about now he was thinking it would have been good to still have the ability to send healing to everyone but alas that wasn't an option.

When Chrysa moves and stabs Bella in the back, nearly dropping her he exclaims "CHRYSA! No... what are you doing?" As everyone seems to continue to focus on the man and not deal with whatever has taken control of Chrysa Orri calls out to her "Leave her alone, if you want to fight someone, come and fight me!" He hesitates a moment before saying something he would never normally say and really hopes his dear friend isn't in her right mind "I doubt you can even stand against me and I'll put you down like the traitor you are!"

He unfurls his whip, speaking the command word as he moves next to Ipmeek hoping to get some cover from any further spells. He continues his inspiring words hoping to help the others deal with the fight.

As Sophie jumps to action to attack, Orri is not far behind already not trusting this guy, I mean how trustworthy is someone that would have a golem made out of flesh...

Orri looks confused for a moment when Chrysa seems to imply the issue is with him not believing in her, but lets out a deep sigh as Chrysa insists she'll be careful. He looks deep in her eyes for a moment and then gives her a nod. "We'll wait just downstairs for you then if you think you will be ok. I... I just don't trust him is the problem... If there is trouble you scream and we will be right up to help you."

Orri turns and glares at the man about to say something just as he begins to speak. When he sees the fangs his eyes go wide momentarily "Wait..."

Orri is waiting to see how Sophie reacts to the new development.

Orri keeps quiet initially as Sophie and Chrysa seem to have things handled. He looks the two new potential enemies over trying to get a better idea what exactly they might be. He is somewhat shocked when Chrysa relates the details of her past, a sad look in his eyes.

Dropping a note in all my games. I am hoping things won't change too much, but wanted to forewarn my games that there may be some delays in my posting. My work schedule is usually busiest over the summer months and while it is slow right now I know at some point it will get crazy busy when I start getting shipments in of hundreds of new computers for a rebuild of one of my schools I manage. On top of this I am finishing up my dual MBA/MSIS this summer with three classes in a condensed 8-week semester.

All of this to say, I will do my best to keep up and if I know of major delays I will try to notify people (like when it is finals week), but if I do end up disappearing for a few days here or there just know it won't be long term. All the craziness I have going on over the next couple months should primarily be wrapped up near the end of July.

Orri shows the cache he found to the others. When Chrysa confirms there aren't any traps he will spend a bit of time cleaning it using his magic (prestidigitation), trying to fix the defacing before removing the key to take back to Orrville, instead of leaving it in a place such as this.

Orri frowns seeing some of the others so depleted when he managed to get away unscathed this time. "I am unharmed, at the very least we should maybe check the rest of this level and see if there aren't any resources that could help. Is there anything we could have done differently to have avoided those things surprising us like that?"

He looks to Sophiel since she seems to know the most about them.
