About Oribane

The Darklands wind and twist under the surface of Golarion, spanning the distance between continents. The Drow Empire sits under most of Avistan in the middle slice of the Darklands known as Sekamina, connected to the surface by the caverns of Nar-Voth, and to the continent of Garund through Reguare. The main tunnel, known as the March of Madness, runs through what used to be the Ghol-Gan Empire of the ancient Cyclopes and opens into the Mwangi Expanse. It is rare for refugees and escaped slaves to make it so far from their arachnid praising tormentors, but those who do find themselves in the company of a very different kind of spider.

Oribane grew up around one of the mouths of the Reguare, learning to hunt, to weave, and to maintain the many traps and snares used to protect the community from Xulgath scouting parties. On occasion, he would find surface folk trapped instead, and learn that the usual unease his kind had to deal with in spider form was nothing compared to the terror of a Drow's torture victim. The Anadi do their best to nurse the poor souls back to health, keep them safe, and do what they could to help quell the trauma. Unfortunately, they aren't always able to give the help needed. In such cases, they turn to local bird watcher Takulu Ot and the Magaambya.

Often being the first to meet the survivors, Oribane was tasked with heading into Nantambu to fetch Takulu on many occasions to get him abreast of the situation on the trek back. However, Oribane's interactions with Takulu weren't usually so urgent, as the teacher would sometimes visit with his wife just to watch the birds. Oribane took many opportunities to enjoy the company of outsiders so comfortable with the Anadi, compared to the typically violent responses of the refugees, and to ask approximately too many questions about magic and the work of the Magaambya.

When Takulu suggested Oribane enroll to learn more about the school for himself, the energetic Anadi was all too excited to accept and make new friends, even as he nervously dreaded the idea of being surrounded by potentially arachnophobic strangers.
