About Ontario
Ontario grew up as an exotic ifrit servant in a Technic League functionary's household in Starfall. He knows nothing of his parents. He was the guinea pig used on new items of tech that came in, unrolling old scrolls, and anything that might be trapped. During the long periods when the family was out at their other residences or in the field, he quietly extended his studies, making extensive use of the library.
The head of the household was killed while hunting down a wizard who was trying to escape Starfall with concealed tech. The family then turned him out, and he slowly made his way out of the country by working as itinerent labor on a succession of farms. He snuck across a little-patrolled part of the border.
A party of Pathfinders found him dehydrated and starving a few miles from a village. They were struck by the oddness of an ifrit out by himself near the Nirmathan border, so took him in, nursed him to health, and with excitement found that he knew a number of things about Starfall and tech.
He's been part of the Society since, working on rogue skills. He's cautious ... to a point. If his party is futzing around too long with an unknown item and he can't tell what it will do, he may just wave everyone back and directly experiment with it.
