Hello all,
My friends and I are huge PACG fans. After replaying Burnt Offerings for the third time we started arguing about how well we did compared to our previous attempts. That's when inspiration struck.
Why do adventurers do what they do? Certainly some of them are just there to help out the poor and unfortunate, but the majority of adventures are there for one reason, TREASURE!
After some discussion on how to best keep track of how well we did on each run, we came up with the following system.
1. After each run, when we have finished remaking our decks, we gather all the items that are left over.
2. We input these items onto the below linked excel spreadsheet.
Boargamegeek.com_treasure_values.
3. The spreadsheet keeps a running total of how much Gold all our treasure was worth.
We don’t track items we keep in our hand, because those are not sold for Gold. We also don’t count Blessings or Allies. Every other Weapon, Armor, Scroll (spell), Item, and Loot Card we acquired is sold for Gold. All the Gold values come right out of the Pathfinder Role-playing Game Books, or at least as close as we could get. (We couldn’t find some items, and others were close but not exact.)
Now every run is not about just beating the Villains, any adventurer can do that. It’s about gathering as much treasure as we can to beat previous runs. This makes every card valuable. No more closing early just to win, we want to get rich!
The replay ability this has added to the game is amazing. We are keeping track of every mission and players are even asking to go back and run some of the starting areas just to try and beat our old scores. I will add a post later with some of our Gold values.
I hope this inspires others. Please feel free to leave a comment or suggest ways to improve our system. Also, if you end up using the sheet post the scenario and your total Gold and Gold per player values for others to try and beat. Thanks for reading and have a Happy Holiday season!
James
