Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

I am sorry to see this campaign end. I have enjoyed playing with you all and as with Doomed Hero, I expect to be around for some time to come, so should there be any interest in resurrecting this campaign, I will be here.

I do hope that Shifty and DM VoV work through this as both are great and prolific players who I have enjoyed interacting with both IC and OOC in multiple campaigns.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Sounds good. At a con this weekend, will try to update it by Monday.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

If anyone else has any thoughts about this last modified domain, please let me know. If it sounds ok, I will try to update my character before I take off for the Con this weekend.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

As a note, I will be at CarnageCon this weekend, so my posting is likely to be light.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

I meant to type "sense nearby water or in the moisture in the air" to indicate that the wisdom is not just limited to when I am in the water. Just wanted to note that if there are any questions.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Ok, how is this for a modified druid which does most of what I am interested in, without unbalancing things.

Water Domain (modified)
--> All water domain spells
--> At 1st Level - gains a swim speed equal to 1/2 of land speed. This swim speed increases by 5' at 4th and every 4 levels thereafter, but cannot be greater than the druid's land speed.
--> At 9th level, an aquatic druid gains the aquatic subtype, the amphibious trait, and a swim speed equal to her land speed.

--> Due to the close tie with water, and the general unmaneuverability of armor in water, the druid has learned to sense motion in nearby water with an almost preternatural speed. As such, the druid adds his or her Wisdom bonus to all AC. This bonus also increase as does a monk's AC, but one level behind. This bonus is loss if the druid wears any armor or uses a shield.
--> This replaces Trackless Step and Resist Nature's Lure.
_____________

I do not think that this is overpowered, but it gives me what I like about both a monk level and the aquatic druid (although the swimming and aquatic subtype are probably useless since I will probably be a fish or shark when in the water anyway.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Any other thoughts or considerations on my previous posts about a martial druid?

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Really until adamantine kicks in at high levels, it is essentially just the Eldrich claws feat. As I am not Lawful, the aligned would not apply.

Amulet of mighty fists would also work for the DR.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

All, ok, here is a possible option. Not sure how balanced it is, but it was something that DM VoV allowed in another campaign, but a campaign which was primarily martial arts focused.

Here is the original post/thread: Unbinding the Fetters

The proposed "Domain" had no spells, but a number of unarmed/monkish abilities.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless - a little over 2 years ago wrote:

How about:

'Needs a Better Name' Domain:

'Ability the First': gain Unarmed Strike progression as per monk

'Ability the Second': gain 10ft enhancement bonuses to speed at 4th, 7th, 10th, 13th, 16th, 19th (basically as per monk but 1 level slower)

'Ability the Third': @4th level, unarmed strikes or natural attacks (when wildshaped) count as magic. @16th count as adamantine.

'Ability the Fourth': @6th level, can add Wis to AC - but only when not wearing armor

'Ability the Fifth': @12th level, can use unarmed damage instead of natural weapon damage

Note: No domain spells are supplied and this domain does not provide any additional spell slots.

The final character was slightly altered from this - as can be seen in the above linked OOC. Here is Gorak if anyone wants to see the actual character.

_______________
Any thoughts about this are appreciated. I like the idea of a martial focused druid and Obi has been sort of playing that direction anyway.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Not completely leveled, but I think my Prof(sailor) is good.

Prof(sailor): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Sort of the back and forth. With my high Wis, 1 or 2 levels of monk at some point give a big boost to armor and eliminates the need for actual armor, also give a few free feats (Dodge & Improved Grapple) which would be very beneficial in wildshape. And evasion is never bad to have.

There are a pile of other spells, Barkskin, Aspect of the Bear, which help with AC/CMD/CMB. Not sure how it will work, but Wildshaping into a whale and then bullrushing a ship could lead to some interesting fun.

Well, I am still open to thoughts. If the Aquatic Druid was not stuck with the Druid Level -2 on Wildshape, it would make decisions much easier.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Question:

When under a Polymorph spell (in other words Wild Shape (via Beast Shape, Elemental Shape, etc)), I will lose any shield or armor bonus, this is understandable. However, the Polymorph description allows that:
Items that provide constant bonuses and do not need to be activated continue to function while melded in this way (with the exception of armor and shield bonuses, which cease to function)

If I were using Rhino Hide armor, would I lose the AC bonuses, but retain the charge damage increase? The armor is not cheap, but seems like something that would be useful (I suppose we could reskin it as Whale Hide or something else water born that charges.)

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Still considering that. Late at night here after a long day. Will play with it tomorrow and see what I can do with the feats. If I stay as an Aquatic Druid, I cannot take Natural Spell until level 7 since I do not get the Wildshape until level 6.

Still playing with things, but the aquatic is such a part of her, that it is hard to forego. Not sure why the archetype is two levels behind on wildshape, but it is.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Ok - after considering the input from the rest of the peanut gallery, or is that the Revenge gallery, I am going to drop the Eagle Domain which seems to make a relatively less optimized archetype, immensely underpowered.

During the time off, I am going to say good by to Shadow, although the bird will probably continue to fly around us in circles until the end of time looking for a free meal. Instead, after attacking a small fishing village, I managed to find a cute little snake, which I have adopted and after a few feedings, mostly resisting sailors, has grown a little into a solid 10' long constrictor.

I am going to keep the Summoning Feats, but will start to grab mostly combat feats from here on out. Taking PA at this level.

Any thoughts are appreciated, but I think that this will make Obi more of the melee power she has always attempted to be, while keeping her decent spell casting and summoning abilities when needed.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Ok, a thought. Right now we have 1 melee character - El Capitan. My choices seem to be light armor (leather/wooden) or medium armor (dragonhide breastplate). With my swim skill, swimming is not a great issue, but still, wearing heavy armor might not be the best option.

I am considering taking 2 levels in Monk(marital artist). I lose some spell casting ability, but we have a ton of casters - Deader, Nanchi, Fish (if she is still around). I gain a better AC, some good abilities, and can ditch the armor altogether.

If anyone has any thoughts, let me know. Yes, my casting and shapeshifting will be behind others, but the additional class skills, class abilities and bonus feats I think more than make up for this.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Just as she does not like being close to the undead utilized by Deader due to their alien and unnatural aura, the ghost ship causes Obi's spine to tingle.

Its not natural captain. When a ship dies, it is supposed to remain dead.

Almost finished leveling. Still trying to determine equipment. Having a tough time with armor as dragonhide armor cannot be made light like mithral. DM VoV - can a chain shirt be made out of dragonhide? Or can dragonhide be made to have the lightness and benefits of mithral? I know that this would cost more, but hate losing the speed when wearing medium armor.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

HP: 1d8 ⇒ 5

Skills: Perception, Profession(sailor), Heal

Feat: Power Attack
--> I can grab Superior Summons if I start to do a lot of lesser summons in a few levels.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

I already have Spell Focus(conj) and Augment Summons. I have only used one or two summons so far, but have it as an option when necessary. (Fire elementals make a mess of the deck of a ship when cast from a swimming druid.)

Ok, that is 1 vote against Superior Summons (or perhaps 2 votes since it is the DM.)

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Trying to figure things out. Three feats are strong contenders:

1) Power Attack - necessary for Improved Overrun, Grapple, etc when in natural forms.
2) Dodge - adds AC and leads to Mobility while in natural form
3) Superior Summoning - get 1 extra when summoning more than a single monster

Any thoughts are appreciated. All will be useful.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

I am good either way. I enjoy the combats, but have no problem moving forward if that is what the majority wants.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Then Obi will hand the wheel to the second in command and shall move forward to drop the swarm on the apparent mage.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Not sure about distances, but I would like to drop the Summon Swarm(spiders) onto the robed mage.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Yup - been there. Tough when the significant other schedules your day, and then the wee ones decide to monopolize the rest of your time.

We will all be here when you get to update things.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

DMVoV - sent you a PM, I will lose the Bull's Strength if I have to.

Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Obi manages to dodge the flying debris.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Obi looks to Cedrick.

It will not last long, but I can create a small elemental of air to attack the men manning the Catapult.

Convert (open slot) to Summon Nature's Ally II.

Summon Small Air Elemental which will fly to the ship and attack whoever is manning the catapult.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Hmmm, didn't realize we had discussed that, although I did not check. Will have to switch the spell out then if it is useless on a ship.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25

Captain, they have a catapult and looks like a few trained soldiers one mage and a priest. Not gonna be easy. My bat spell is not that long. But, I can make the boards come to life and entangle the deck of their ship. Should hinder the use of the catapult.

Assuming Cedrick gives the ok, Obi will cast Entangle centered in the middle of the ship. 40' radius should get the whole deck. I am assuming that even the best ship has some mold and moss and other plant life growing on it. In addition, vines could easily spring forth from the wood itself bringing it back to life.

Cast: Entangle - DC15 or entangled, makes whole ares difficult terrain

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

I can keep the bats as long as necessary. I cannot control them, so any crew member who goes near them may get attacked.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Obi looks to Cedrick as they approach the boat.

Cap'n you want me at the wheel? If you would like, I can call on some nice friends to harass their boat before we board. I was thinking a swarm of bats would really annoy them. Hard to beat without fire, and, well, lets just say fire is not usually used on ships.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Once more Obi takes the helm and guides the ship expertly back out into the ocean carefully scanning the sea ahead for signs of sails while Shadow glides overhead alerting her when he sees sign of a ship or anything else noteworthy.

Perception(Shadow): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Until we skin them alive. My forefathers tend to like wearing armor made from the skin of their victims, usually storm giants.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Obi nods:
The wise course is to use this as a restocking and resupply station for the present. If the Rock turns enemy, then we can seek to thwart them later when we are better supplied. For now, I think that acquiring some wealth from those devil worshipping Chelaxian and the atheist Rahadoumi would be our best bet. Once we have gotten our boarding and combat skills together, then we can hunt down the cur Harrigan and make a real name for ourselves.

Obi begins to laugh, not a pleasant sound, as she looks at Cedrick:
Isn't that true soon to be Pirate Lord Dragonne.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Obi turns and whispers to Nachni:
Perhaps we should ask what she would require to show our worth. Obviously, this will require the acquiescence of the Captain first though.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Obi listens to the others and then steps forward shyly, never one for social intercourse.
I am Obisyth, it is a pleasure to meet you m'lady. I apologize for not being with the others on the boat, but prefer being in the water rather than above it whenever possible.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Obi follows closely behind Nachni carefully watching for anything of note.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 <-- I assume we are not in an aquatic environment, otherwise add +5

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Obi really does not care what she looks like, but goes along with the cleaning process.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Obi moves over to rejoin the others, at the same time she calls out to Shadow to determine whether anything is to be seen in the area. At least anything that Shadow would think to be dangerous.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Hearing Deader's shouted response and unsure how to best react, Obi dives back in the water and swims with her unnatural speed back toward the boat and then joins the rest of the crew.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Obi looks to the Captain:
Suppose I could swim in to one of the beaches and make an initial investigation.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

I will KO the paralyzed one rather than risk slipping on the grease.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Not sure which ones are still up.

Obi moves forward. If she can get to the prone one, she will. If not, she will attack the paralyzed one.

Acrobatics(if necessary): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 <-- + whatever bonus if attacking the prone or paralyzed one
Damage: 2d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3, 3) + 4 + 1 = 11 <-- fighting 2 handed. I will do non-lethal on the paralyzed one if possible so that we have a prisoner to talk to, possibly.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Nice.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Seeing Deader under attack, Obi moves forward just in front of the undead creator where she begins to call upon the powers of the sea to aid her. As she does so, her club once more begins to take on a dull green glow like the water in a grotto as seen from beneath the surface.

Move to G9.

Cast Shillelagh

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Hearing the blast and knowing that it is not good, she immediately grabs her club and heads up to see what is amiss. Obi will move as far as she can in the round.

My wooden armor is light armor, so I should be able to sleep in it with no problems.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15

Zzzzzz...

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

DM VoV seems to be having a tough time keeping a consistent form these days. Good thing that he has not gone smurfy on us with the little one.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Obi simply looks at the green recruits and shakes her head. She quietly says to Fish:
I am guessing that the fish will be having some of Mr. Croup's food second hand for a few days.

With that, Obi turns the wheel and directs the Revenge back out of the harbor and into the westerly winds.

If it is moderate weather and we are away from land, we can sail through the night, I am sure that Nachni can handle the wheel with reasonable competence. If there are storms about, or we are in water that is more difficult, then either I will stay up the night, or we will drop anchor. I will also work on training at least one other NPC to be able to handle the wheel as needed.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

I have never done any Pathfinder Society play. Not even sure what it entails.

Female Tiefling - Oni Spawn Druid(aquatic)/4 - HP 35/35; AC17/19 w/shield, FF15, T12; F+6,R+3,W+8; Per+11; Init+3

Obi will take the other shift from Cedrick so that she has the helm when the captain is not on duty. She will likely have a varied schedule as she expects to be called to the helm whenever anything is sighted. Probably the shifts will be:

Cedrick/Joneth(or whoever his replacement is) - Morning/early afternoon
Obi/Fish - afternoon/evening
Deader/Nachni - midnight shift

Although these are the general shifts, I would expect Obi to be at/near the wheel at all times she is not sleeping. Also, I would expect Cedrick to be on the deck except when he is asleep.
