--Background--

Living in the deep untamed wilderness was a dangerous prospect, especially near the mountains. Roving bands of bandits or monstrous hordes made everyday life out there hazardous. The Circle of the Ever-Green, a Druidic Community focused on maintaining the local flora and fauna, had learned to deal with these things in the most part. Things would prey on them, thinking them weak, and the forest and animals would rise up in their defense.

This held true for many years until a tribe of ogres took notice of the Circle’s verdant land and wanted it for themselves. They fought and fought to no avail, each time being thrown back until the last desperate push brought the chieftain and his mate into the Druids private sanctum. The Arch-Druid slew the chief in one spell and was going to kill the female when heard a loud cry from her pack. He asked to see the child she carried and then claimed the babe as a spoil of war. The female was cast out of the circle unharmed, being happy to leave with her life. With no care for her child, she never even turned her head.

The other members of the Circle wondered why the Arch-Druid kept the boy. He was determined to change its evil nature. They raised him, trained him and bound his soul to a young oak tree. This ritual suppresses his natural aggression and strength until he can prove to nature itself he’s worthy of the power he carries. Oaken-Soul now wanders in hopes of proving just that.
