Nixbit lived with his nomadic Goblin tribe for most of his childhood. He was teased for being so small (even for a goblin) as a child. After a particularly brutal beating left him near unconscious, Nixbit vowed to show them what he could do. He trained and trained for the day when he could pay them back. That day came when he was around eight years old. The bullies came for him but instead of running, Nix challenged the biggest one to a fight. The bully accepted, thinking he would win easily like normal. The fight began with the bully throwing punches towards Nixbit. Nix dodged, slipped, and weaved past all the punches and made his way inward. He landed a swift uppercut to the bully's jaw, which was enough to make everyone stop and stare. The bully, enraged, came back with more furious haymakers. Again Nixbit dodged the punches and landed a hook across his opponent's cheek. The fight continued in this pattern until the bully had had enough. The bullies dispersed, never to bother Nixbit again. A Goblin raider had noticed the fight and invited Nix to join the raiding party. Nixbit agreed excitedly. Nix liked going on raids, it was fun to take things from people. He tended to focus on the stealing more than the killing while raiding. When he was not raiding, Nixbit liked to play with the Goblin dogs. He learned how to handle and train them so they would be ready for handling. When Nix was around ten years old he went on a raid into a village the tribe had been making their way towards for a while. Everything seemed to be going smoothly until they got to the center of the town square. Warriors flooded out from between buildings on all sides. It was an ambush! Before anyone knew what was happening, they were surrounded. Nixbit, confused and scared, ran out of town. His ability to remain unseen served him well. He kept running, but in his confusion he lost his way when he ended up in a forest. He began heading farther and farther away and made his way out of the forest, but nowhere near his tribe. Assuming the worst he began travelling, using his talents to take what he needed while remaining unnoticed. Eventually the green landscape turned to white as he managed to make his way into a snowstorm. As he was walking he heard a curious sound, like a small whine. Looking around, he spotted the source of the noise. It was a Maltese blue tiger cub, though at this point it looked more like a blue and white ball of fluff. The cub was pressing its front paws on the dead tiger beside it, as if it was trying to wake the body up. Nix realized that the dead tiger was probably it's mother and that the cub would likely die if left alone. Nix picked up the cub and took a good look at her. "I will call you Furball." Nix said as he tucked the cub into his backpack. Nixbit eventually made his way to Heldren where he decided he would spend a while, so that Furball could grow and Nix could train her. Nix spent a year doing just that, generally keeping away from the other townsfolk. The townsfolk seemed uneasy at first, but eventually got used to Nix and Furball. |
