"Greetings, my dear lady. Although I am not a new member to the Pathfinder Society, I am new to the Silver Crusade.
"For over a year, I have been up north to the Realm of the Mammoth Lords, the land of my adopted brothers and sisters of the Snowmask Clan, scouting and reporting back information for the Mendevian Crusaders on events within the Worldwound.
"Once I was a part of Qadira, but they have changed much over the past year. Too much, in fact. And I cannot abide with their joining ranks with the Sczarni. These events have brought upon me a realization: that I must follow the calling of my heart, and join the ranks amongst you. May we together mend hearts and minds of those who have been harmed by the devastation, and try to redeem as many lost souls as is possible. Much in the same way I have been redeemed, I would think."

"Greetings once again fellow Pathfinders" Nisha says with a smile on her face.
"'Tis indeed been a long time since I have seen most of you. With the events of the Worldwound upon us, I was doing my part travelling to the far north, to the land of my adopted brothers and sisters of the Snowmask Clan in the Realm of the Mammoth Lords. Together, we snuck deep into the Worldwound, and helped with bringing back valuable information to the Mendev Crusaders. Thus I have been out of touch for a little over a year."
Nisha takes a deep breath "Alas, when I returned, I found Absalom much changed. The Qadira faction that I served loyally is no more. I do not take kindly to the unholy alliance between Qadira and the Sczarni. It is indeed too much for an honest business woman such as myself to bear."
"As a result, I have decided to finally answer the calling of my heart, and have now joined the ranks amongst you. Let us together help redeem those who can be saved, as my new leader has so eloquently stated, and help to mend those hearts and minds that have been scarred from the Worldwound. And to those who firmly stand in the darkness, may they fear the light of our cause, and the keen-ness of my blade."
"Many thanks to all of you for your words of encouragement. It lightens such an old heart as mine." Nisha smiles once more.
Haven't played this character in over a year, and figured that the time was right for her to join the faction that fits her personality. And if Trial by Machine is any indication of what Season 6 has in store, I am going to have a lot of fun this year :)
Fromper wrote: Yeah, that just means you have to decide in advance which you're going to take, since they suck together. If they're going to change it, they should just make Armor of the Pit unavailable if you already have Scaled Skin. I'm fine with that too. As long as the devs take a look at that feat again and change something with it so that someone new to the game doesn't get caught in that trap.
It's fine for a home game, as you can always talk to your GM to correct it. But if it's for PFS, then they'll have to use the retraining rules to change their character (which may mean buying a book they may not yet own just to correct that mistake).

Fromper wrote: You think it's too over-powered? I don't. It's good, but most builds don't have the feats for it. I just took it for my armored tank fighter, though. :) Actually, no I don't think it's overpowered. However:
Armor of the Pit wrote: Your fiendish traits take the form of a protective scaly skin.
Prerequisites: Tiefling.
Benefit: You gain a +2 natural armor bonus.
Special: If you have the scaled skin racial trait, you instead gain resistance 5 to two of the following energy types that you don't have resistance to already: cold, electricity, and fire.
Scaled Skin wrote: The skin of these tieflings provides some energy resistance, but is also as hard as armor. Choose one of the following energy types: cold, electricity, or fire. A tiefling with this trait gains resistance 5 in the chosen energy type and also gains a +1 natural armor bonus to AC. This racial trait replaces fiendish resistance. By my reading of the feat, a Tiefling without the Scaled Skin alternate racial trait gains +2 to Natural Armor and 3 resistances.
However, a tiefling with Scaled Skin who takes it will have +1 to Natural Armor and 3 resistances.
So basically they get screwed for taking the alternate racial trait at character creation and then deciding they want Armor of the Pit. :/
In the special section, if they changed "instead" to "also", then it would work much better IMO.
BigNorseWolf wrote: Nisha,
There's a feat to give you +2 for extra stony skin. (whereas 1 feat will give you back one of your energy resistances)
Yes. I saw that feat. And I agonized over taking that or the racial trait. But, sadly, my build was feat starved, so since I couldn't afford the Armor of the Pit feat, I decided to go with the cheaper alternative of losing 2 of my resistances for +1 AC. :)
(I swear, Armor of the Pit needs to have the devs look at again. That special section needs to be errata'd)

Also very useful in using Breath of Life scrolls in a timely manner. Considering the possibility of table variation, a handy haversack is probably a safer place to store a scroll of breath of life. Except that it's no more helpful there than in your pocket or wherever you normally carry it. The point of putting it in the sheath was so that you could save the move action so you can get to the dead guy in the same round. The haversack doesn't help with that. Or you could be like me and be a Tiefling with a Prehensile Tail and be able to draw several "light objects" such as that scroll of Breath of Life (probably accepting DM interpretation) as a swift action ;)
(Granted, this character isn't a cleric or oracle, but being able for her to draw her sling as a swift, load as a move, and then throw as her standard has been cool thus far).
But I digress. One item a lot of people here didn't know about were Air Crystals. For 50 gp, get air in a can. I once prevented a TPK by having one of these on my person when we were caught in a burning building.
I'm not really sure which language Oni-Spawn Tieflings get.
I personally chose Infernal for this Oni-Spawn based upon the comment in Blood of Fiends that their "typical alignment" was Lawful Evil, which made me lean of them more towards being devils rather than demons. But then, she's a PFS character, so I had to choose Abyssal or Infernal, so *shrug*

I wasn't aware that there was an aasimar heritage with +2 STR/WIS. You can get that with a dual-talented human. Just sayin'. Oni-Spawn tiefling will do that. For the low low price of -2 charisma, you get all the fiendish goodies. Did i mention it was a LOW price? I know you're a proponent of having a charsma score but thats a ridiculously good trade off. I made this Monk (well, Barbarian/Monk) using an Oni-Spawn Tiefling. So far it's worked out quite well. (Baring open access to Tieflings, I would have went with either dual-talented Human or use my Oread race boon for it).
Favourite alternate race trait: Scaled Skin. Lose 2 out of 3 of your resistances for +1 AC. Great trade IMO. :)
Imbicatus wrote: Qlippoth Spawn will give that too with a minus to Int instead of CHA. Yet they are the ugliest PC race by far. Yeah. You would have figured they would be the ones with -2 CHA instead of Oni-Spawn ;)
buckledup wrote: Just curious, but if a barb can't be lawful and a monk can't be unlawful how did you get these two classes to mix? Sorry, I should have specified it. She's Urban Barbarian 1 / Martial Artist Monk 3 (currently). Martial Artist archetype doesn't require a monk to be lawful. So, she's currently true Neutral (although at the start of season 6, with the faction change, I may try to change her alignment to NG and go from Qadira into Silver Crusade).
And yes, there is an Agathion Aasimar trait called Enlightened Warrior from Blood of Angels, which allows such a race to be Neutral or Neutral Good and still take levels of Monk. And best of all, you can take the Adopted race trait to get it, and be any race. (And it even works in PFS). I didn't end up taking it because I felt it was a bit cheesy, and the more I thought about it, the more I liked the sweet bonuses (bonusi?) that I could get from Martial Artist.
This Tiefling Barbarian/Monk has gotten a few odd looks. Apart from the fact that it has 1 level of Barbarian and 3 levels of Monks, the odd personality quirk of her trying to sell everyone her "antique" coffee pot has raised one or two eyebrows and made people laugh.
One GM called this character cheesy because it was a Barbarian/Monk. *shrug*
As an upstanding, respectable, and honest business-woman, I do not thinking merging with a bunch of thieves, cutthroats, and brigands is such a good idea.
However, if this means I can sell my "antique" coffee pot* for way more than it is worth, then perhaps it's not as bad of an idea as I thought.
* Nisha likes to offer to sell her "antique" coffee pot to any NPC she meets as a way to break the ice. :)
Greetings, Bree-Bran. I thank you for your thoughts, and look forward to, perhaps, fight beside you against the evil of the Worldwound. Nisha lets out a small smile.
Nisha turns to Augustine and smiles.
"Greetings. I thank you for your sympathy. Indeed, those of us who have been born from evil but are not evil themselves are perhaps the best matched to this fight. I look forward to the day when we may stand together and drive back the darkness to whence they came."

Greetings to the members of the Silver Crusade. Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Snowmask Sister Nisha, a humble Merchant from Qadira, and an honourary member of the Snowmask clan of one of the tribes from the lands of the frozen north.
I am, myself, not a Silver Crusader. Being a Tiefling, and having faced discrimination based upon my appearance, has made my outlook on Good vs. Evil moot. However, my recent experiences within the Worldwound has left me ... disturbed.
Having faced such horrors from the Abyss, and the cruelty they have caused, I can no longer in good concious keep myself unaligned in these matters anymore. By the Dawnflower's grace, it is time for me to pick a side.
I cannot abandon my current loyalties. Perhaps I am too set in my ways. However, when such my priorities are not in conflict, I wish to offer my services to any Silver Crusader I meet in the course of my duties as a Pathfinder. I will gladly fight beside any of you to ensure this horror is stopped.
All I ask in return is guidance from those on the side of light, to ensure that I shall forever more stand for what is good and right.
I thank you for listening. And I will perhaps see you in the Worldwound. And from this day forward, may the darkness be afraid of the light.
Nisha's alignment wishes to change from N to NG, as long as I find a way to do so that is legal within PFS. I would have considered changing factions, but I have too many Silver Crusade characters as it is :)
Cold Napalm wrote: Andrew Christian wrote: My opinion:
You need to have a reasonably built character to survive in Pathfinder Society. But more important than your build, is your preparedness with consumables. Preparedness can often help more than an uber build that isn't prepared. Being rules savvy and savvy with advanced tactics in the game can often help survival more than an uber build as well.
Uh oh...we agree on something...I think the world is in danger now. I have to agree about consumables. I must have spent a crapload of gold and Prestige Points on consumables (probably half my wealth on consumables as well as 10 PP out of 15), but it's been well worth it.
When you save the party from a TPK because you were fortunate enough to be carrying the right consumable (in my case, Air Crystals), that opens up a lot of peoples' eyes. :)
Only downside for buying so much consumables is the sheer amount of ITS sheets I'm probably going to be going through.

Thread necro!
Had the displeasure of playing this scenario last night. Played at Tier 1-2, with a 7 person party. Mostly level 1 to 2, with my Barbarian/Monk who was 3.
Even with seven people, it was a difficult fight. Got hit with Shocking Grasp by the invisible Magus when I went into the manor. Lost half my hit points in that one hit (went from 30 hit points to 13). Couple of rounds later, I was unconcious. Failed the first stabilization check, made the next two (GM wanted us to keep rolling, so others wouldn't know if I stabilized).
The druid in the party had a badger, who hadn't been hit, so didn't rage. Finally when someone threw an alchemist fire, it got hit by the splash damage and started to rage. Kind of amusing.
Gunslinger and Rogue went on the balcony and peppered with range. Gunslinger was the one who was hitting reliably, thanks to hitting touch AC. Everyone else had trouble hitting.
I would have suggested everyone aid another the Barbarian with the Bardiche, but since I was unconcious, decided not to since I was, well, unconcious. :)
Final death toll: None (although I was at -9, with a 14 CON).
Only thing surprising? Thought this was at least a season 3+ scenario, and was surprised to see it's a season 2. Go figure.
Mental note: next character to build will be a healbot cleric with healing out the wazoo :)
EDIT: Amusing idea for a Pathfinder Shirt:
"I survived the Dalsine Affair and all I got was this lousy T-shirt."
Since I have a game later on tonight, I took the liberty of filling out a Tracking Sheet (for this character).
Currently, she's level 2 (after tonight, if she survives, level 3); 5 scenarios in, it took me about 5 minutes to fill out one of these things. Almost filled out a whole tracking sheet though. (Yeah, she uses a lot of consumables).
Since I'm lazy, I'll do it later for my other characters. :)
