Is there any rule that allows a character to mix modes of movement within a single move action?

For example, say Bob has a base speed of 30' and a climb speed of 30'. On his action, Bob can walk 30' up to a wall (move action), and then climb 30' up (standard action).

Is there any way for Bob to walk 10' and climb 20' (move action) and then attack (standard action), or is this simply not allowed?

The section covering Cold Dangers is very poorly worded (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/environment/environmental-rules#TOC- Cold-Dangers)

The section covering cold environments (less than 40 F) says "unprotected" characters need to make the save or take damage, but what counts as protected? Certainly winter clothing, but would regular clothing or a blanket count?

The section covering severe cold is silly (I've gone camping many times in sub-zero temps with just winter clothing, following these rules I'd be dead in hours even with winter clothing), but it's clear enough.

The section covering extreme cold says nothing about winter clothing, so does every character take d6 lethal regardless of whether they're naked or wearing winter clothing? If the severe cold section's description of winter clothing making the check every hour also applies to extreme cold, then does the automatic d6 only happen every hour or does it only delay the save for the additional non-lethal damage?

Also, what protection is there available for mounts or animal companions? Can you buy winter clothing for your horse or eagle? Do animals suffer the same penalties, and if so how do regular animals survive when it gets to be less than 40 F for any period of time?
